Watching them was neat, but a little disappointing. Most of them just picked up some glass, heated it, placed it in mold, then maybe fiddled with it by hand for another minute or two, and it was done. I guess I was expecting more artistry. And then to walk back into the store and see those same pieces that they made in 5 minutes selling for $85-$250! Wow. I would have loved to have bought a souvenir or gift for a friend, but apparently I'm not their target demographic. LOL

The community really leans into myths and spooky legends, and you'll find restaurants, shops, food and drinks named after these cultural conspiracy theory characters all over the place. The Thrifty Mountaineer is the place to visit in Morgantown if you're into cryptids, because there are so many cryptid items for sale! Plushies, t-shirts, books, keychains, patches and so much more available. Mothman is THE cryptid of the state, and there are lots of Mothman things here. We picked up some Mothman potato chips, because we were curious what Mothman chips would taste like. (Turns out, Mothman tastes a lot like barbecue Lay's.) The store is also an overstock and liquidation store, a notary public and a place to get financial coaching. I can't even make this up. This store is so cool and random, and there are surprises around every corner. The people who work here are hella chill. But you'd have to be if you own and operate a friggin' store dedicated to cryptids, right? If you sell soap that smells like the Flatwoods Monster, you can't take yourself too seriously. These guys like to have fun.

The inside consists of two rooms full of cryptid merchandise, general thrifty items, clothing, and your typical touristy gifts. They have a thrift "bin" which is essentially a table full of random stuff for $2. We found an unopened 6-pack of Hanes boxers and some replacement inner tubes that would fit a dirt bike. They have very fairly priced shirts for men, women, and children. I left with a $3 Bacardi tshirt and a $.50 corkscrew in a velvet drawstring bag. The staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. They were so pleasant. There are two comfy chairs in the middle of the main room where you can relax while the rest of your party shops around. I'll definitely be back to share this experience with others.

During the summer, they advertise outdoor 'mining' for the kids - they feature a huge sluice and various sized bags for sale for panning! I have not personally experienced this because they close during Labor Day and I always go the weekend after. The store, located on the second floor the building which also houses Deep Creek Donuts & FunTime Watersports, is a relatively small shop. I am not sure if they are handicap accessible but I do not believe they are. It is also very quiet inside which was a little awkward shopping with a companion and trying to have light conversation while shopping; they might benefit from playing some soft music to make it more inviting. The handmade pottery is beautiful and priced very reasonable - there are small certified cards inside that tell you when/where/who made your art- a very nice touch. They also have a nice selection of geodes, agates, healing stones, and other decorative stones which are very trendy right now. Their clothing selection features mostly T-shirts and similar garments screen-printed with Native-inspired images. They also have jewelry cases along the wall that extend 2 complete walls of the shop; complete with lots of silver and beaded items that are just beautiful. This is a really cool shop loaded with neat goodies, and it's unlike any shop I've ever seen as it focuses on Native offerings which are beautiful and well-made. I have purchased several real geode/stone magnets, large geode bookends, pottery, and some home decor items- I always find something to take home with me! I highly recommend visiting on your next vacation to Deep Creek!

When mine went over budget she worked with me to get it closer to what I had initially worked out with her and was very honest when it was going to be more expensive. I did not know exactly what my bouquets would look like for my wedding. We had discussed color, floral likes and dislikes and general shape-- but she had design creative liberty. And WOW. So, with that being said, I am not a huge flower person and do not truly understand them either. It took me some time to grasp the concept of paying REAL money for flowers that were going to be there for the day and then would be gone the next. After looking and looking, considering DIY-ing flower décor, thinking about fake flowers, and forgetting about the flowers altogether (thanks to Pinterest), I finally decided to reach out to Farmhouse Fete. I got a response from Danielle and she immediately wanted to set up a call to figure out what we were thinking about and any possible information we could give so that her and her team could accurately put together some sort of proposal for us. Well, needless to say, Danielle spent so much time on the phone with me, getting to know me, my style, what I wanted for the wedding, my dress, the vision that we had, and truly understanding everything she could. She even understood that our budget was not very much to work with and she did not turn me away, she took all the information I was giving her in and collaborated with me on Pinterest, looking at different options and asking what I liked. She offered alternatives that would be more cost friend for our budget, but still had the same concept as what I was looking for. That experience alone made me appreciate flowers even more. I was thinking after the conversation with her that the proposal would be WAY more than we could ever afford and boy was I wrong! We got the proposal and we were blown away. Great pricing and it was ALL that we wanted and needed. Danielle's patience, determination, and friendliness was unmatched and absolutely impeccable from start to finish! The best money that we have ever spent on flowers, hands down!
