Tom gave me an estimate and I agreed and signed the agreement. When it came time to paint , Tom called to say it would be an extra $1500 if I wanted them to sand. I told Tom sanding was part of prep and since my home hasn't been painted since 2004 it needed sanding. Painting started on 9/28/22 and ended on 9/29/22. My son and I inspected the work performed by Schwerings Painting. We were so disappointed and angry. They didn't do a very good job. The top ledges of the columns were not sanded, primed, or painted, the bottom of both columns was not sanded, just painted, you can see the roughness and in some places, the columns were not painted. The beam that goes across the front of the porch and the inside ledge wasn't sanded, primed, or painted. The cedar shingles on the front of the house, the ones that I could see from the attic window were not sanded before painting. The front door has bubbles due to it not being sanded before painting. They put holes in my shingles from their ladders, They didn't clean up afterward. Tom did not do any of the prep or painting, His son David and 2-3 painters came on the first day. On the 2nd day, only the workers came. I notified Tom on 9/30/22 regarding the issues. Between 9/30/22 and 11/9/22 to fix the issues. Tom's communication was horrible. His son David came on 11/9/22 to fix the problems and after he left I inspected his work. He didn't even address the top ledge by the roof, it still isn't sanded or painted. He didn't sand anything, he painted over what the painters painted. Then Tom gave me a hard time about the correct temperature for painting the exterior. I would not recommend this company!

They came in and my wife gave them some directions about some of the nails she had left in the wall for pictures. She didn't want to have to measure again. First let me go back and say that we were given a great quote and then when we added the kitchen later all he asked was for pics of the room, in order to give us an updated quote. My wife picked the color and let them know what she wanted. Now back to today, they came in set up and started work. they fixed the walls where needed. They also fixed the paint job in another room that had been damaged previously by us. He also painted, touched up the baseboard moldings. Mind you we didn't ask him to do it but he noticed and just took care of. He asked if we had paint used in the den left over and like I said fixed the spots that needed it. We were so thrilled with the work that we are having them paint the exterior of the house. I would without any hesitation recommend Garvey Painting. You will not be disappointed. They are talented, organized, fair, willing to listen, easy to deal with, professional, honest, and willing to make amends when they don't live up to their high standards. Briefly, we bought an apartment in an old Center City building that was suffering from hideous, drab brown walls that sucked the life out of the place. When we contacted Vandele, they were prompt and professional (unlike another painter who bailed on us at the last moment), first in scheduling an estimate - at a really competitive price - and then at scheduling the job itself. They even met us halfway with the price of a paint that we'd really loved, even though it should have been a higher cost. They offer a design consultation, which happened about a week out from the start date. My partner and I had already spent quite a bit of time thinking through color schemes, so this session was more of a chance to have a professional listen to us and reassure that what we wanted to do would look good. I think if you are more uncertain of color, you could get a real consultation and recommendations, but in our case, we just needed someone to tell us to stop looking at paint sample cards, that we had made a great choice. It's a small thing, but these nice, small things are what separate Vandele from others. On the day of the painting, the painters showed up on time, first thing in the morning. They would be there every morning on time for the next 4 days, just as the company said they would. I cannot tell you how much of a relief it is to have people do what they say, to not be worried the job won't get done, to have to be calling to find out what is going on, arguing to get what you are paying for. Since both of us work, it was wonderful to leave the apartment in the morning and know that we would not have to worry about the painting during the day and would be able to return at night to see the progress made during the day. They did their job while we did ours. After 4 days of work, the apartment truly looked like a different place. In the end, that is probably the most important part of the job and they excelled at this as well. Everything looked clean and skillfully done, no sloppy splattered paint where it didn't belong, no missed spots or not enough coats. Just clean edges, vibrant paint and a beautiful apartment that we could now call our own. After the job was complete, we did have one issue, but the way Vandele handled it makes me want to recommend them even more. We initially went with a bold color in the bathroom and immediately regretted our decision - the painters repainted it white the next day. After the job was completed and we resumed showering, immediately we realized that the paint was not handling the moisture well, as it looked like it was literally sweating out yellow paint. We contacted Vandele and showed them the problem; they agreed that the bathroom-specific paint was not used with all of the changes and offered to repaint the bathroom at no charge in a timely manner. No argument, no hassling over price, just an acknowledgment of a mistake and a plan to remedy it. We can't ask for anything more.
