Purchased 2 pairs of riding pants, a riding vest, a tote and a saddle pad...$300+. Let's face it, equestrian outfitting is expensive no matter where you shop. Still, they have a nice selection and the staff is SUPER helpful and friendly. Some of these places can be pretty snobbish just because they cater to the horsey crowd and many of those customers are obnoxious elitists too. Not so here. They will bend over backwards to find what you need and even advise on where you might find it inexpensively if they can't supply the item. I'm only taking away the one star because of the stuffiness and heat in the store. Some fans to move the air would have been great. I'm not big on air conditioning per se, however it's a concrete building they're in and it felt quite closed in. One ancient a/c unit was wheezing away in a far back window, but wasn't having much effect at all. The location is a bit off the beaten path. Whenever we visit, it seems out of business, but when you walk in, there's plenty of merchandise. I'd like to see some more signage and maybe some flowers in a planter, something to make the establishment more lively and welcoming from the exterior. It's too nice of a place to pass by!

We went to Weathervane Tack shop after looking up a couple of places. My daughter read reviews for this place that sounded very nice and the distance was good (only 23 mins from Seekonk MA). We arrived and we're greeted by the owner. His name is Frank, he was very helpful in finding us what we needed and was also very kind to offer items that were reasonable for the amount of riding my daughter will be going for now. He also told us about his frequent visitor program. He made us a card that stays in the shop and after 6 trips to the shop he will give us a gift card with a total of 10% of the total purchases. My daughter and I had a great experience Frank has a very well stocked store with everything one would need to take care of their horses or ponies and even other animal needs as well. I love dealing with honest people, that aren't in business just to make a quick buck. I was educated on how to buy boots. Boy was I off! I learned that you don't typically buy the size that you normally wear. I'm a size and a half smaller in boots! I will definitely be visiting these ladies, when I'm ready to make my purchase. They were both friendly and extremely helpful. My son loved this store for 2 large reasons, Ziva & Morgan, the store's Dobermans. He also loved the toys and selection of boots in his size.

I was traumatized when I got to Klitzners and asked so many questions over and over prior to moving in. Now it's over 2 years later, and no complaints. The ring is dragged weekly, the boarders get along great, the property is plowed early morning on snow days, the trails are plentiful and cleaned up yearly. Grateful I found a perfect place!

Soooo HAPPY Dover opened a store here in Manchester! Also I can't believe I'm the first to review it because there's so many folks who are already regulars. That being said, I'm like a kid in a candy store the minute I walk in. So much tack and equestrian equipment, so little TIME!!! I want it ALL. Unfortunately, most of the items are pretty pricey, which I guess is to be expected. I think they figure if one can afford to ride, then one can afford a $500 pair of boots and a $300 pair of breeches...Trouble is that when you're involved with horses, all your money already goes to them, so you've gotta be careful not to overspend or put your money in unnecessary extras. Hard to do when the store so beautifully displays everything: clean, coordinated, colorful! (Just like you wish your tack trunk was!) Salespeople are horse people so they totally GET it. They're friendly and super helpful. I know this is supposed to be a more upscale store, but I still wish they had a consignment area so that I could trade in and perhaps trade up my gear. Westbrook Hunt Club is a gorgeous horse stable with several rings and a really nice indoor ring…read morewhich is used for horse shows. What's great about this Jumper-Hunter Stable? They have two viewing areas, the one upstairs is great for viewing. There are couches and books, 'zines, etc. The best part of this place? There is a little known tack shop. Seems the people that shop here are the ones who have shown, boarded, and have visited the place. If you put 'tack shops near me' in the Southeastern CT map, Westbrook does not show up. It's a shame. They are warm, caring, attentitive and for newbies like me shopping for my daughter's new-to-her-horse, the owner will explain what and why. They have tack, riding clothing and nice equine jewelry, supplements, everything! For the Penny Pinchers, the Good News is they have Re-Sale items. And when I went in looking for a cooler, the owner had no 78's and went straight to the re-sale area. They had 3 for me to chose from. Gently worn and I wished I came in here first before buying online brand new stuff, they had medium, heavy weight, and no fill sheets as well! All their Saddles are gently used and ready to go. They have shipments of new stuff coming seasonally. So next time you need a tack shop, there is more in SECT than 'The Paddock' or 'Dover' in N.Kingston, RI.
