I agree with the first Yelper as their tour guides speak to passengers as children back to the 4th or 5th grade once again. The staff on-board is courteous, without knowing the existence of Dramamine, I'm prone to motion sickness as the boat literally rocked violently numerous times with the engine cut off to intake sightings of whales nearly 50 miles from land. In the middle of the journey I felt vile, which my former love requested for assistance of a brown paper bag in return he got two asprins, a glass of Ginger Ale and four pieces of saltine crackers (all FREE)... now that is called excellent customer service. Amazingly there are still kind people in this world. I love Nabisco Saltine Crackers as it reminsce my sick days in my youth absent from school! Despite my motion sickness mishap, my former love and I were able to achieve our Pultizer Prize photo of a humpback whale's tale rising up in the Atlantic Ocean 50 miles off Provincetown, MA!

We got to pick our tour time and we were the only ones on the tour, so the price was even more of a steal. My wife and I did this a day after taking the Mayflower trolley bus tour and this was a great follow-up because it went into more detail on the history topics discussed on that tour, as well as going into topics that tour didn't even touch. And so using our most of the time Viatour things to do, we joined Mike and his trainees at the Chatham Fish Pier - A must visit for tourists or locals who haven't ventured out to soak in the decadent ocean views. Sure, the seals come along to just beg fishermen/women for their share of the daily catch (eh, seals aren't my thing, but to each their own the views are soul cleansing, I swear!). This is a FOOD tour amigos. Not a lot of history, but some specks of interesting tidbits mixed in with a LOT of GREAT tips for where to eat, drink and be merry. And so this first stop gives you a 3 jumbo shrimp coctail OR an upgrade (cost extra) for 1/2 of a VERY plump and generous lobster roll. Off to the pier to soak in the beauty and you waltz over to the views of the iconic Chatham Bars Inn. Cutting through the hotel and taking notes, you get to main street and head over to the Chatham Squire, a staple Irish grub pub, for a generous fish taco (seriously a double fister!). But not without stopping first at a photography studio and the library. AFTER taco fest, you tiptoe across the street to Wild Goose Tavern (I've rated them before), for a pillowy flatbread of the day and choice of clam chowdah or lobster bisque. Out for more walking and chatting and you wrap it up with an ice cream sandwich from Buffys. BURP! Plenty of water to drink, potty breaks, time to browse and shop, plenty of stories from the team of SUPER PROUD OF CHATHAM guides. What you will get will change seasonally - but rest assured you will be WELL FED. What went right? And now we say that these guys are creating a legend to be told for the ages - the hospitality, professionalism, candor, laid back easy going-just-great-people, super well organized and just the right amount of walk, rest, eat, meet and greet, and it makes for a GREAT outing. THE WHALES PERFORMED While on the cape, I knew we needed to see whales. We came at the right time of the year and with Captain John Boats offering that 99% success rate for seeing whales on all their trips, I knew we would have to at least see one. AND WE DID. We boarded from the Provincetown dock and as soon as we were leaving on our way out I'd say not even 5 minutes in, we spot the first little guy: a mola mola (I believe that was the name!). That was super cool but moments after, we get to encounter, LIVE, first row to the 2nd largest animal in the WORLD: the fin whale Let that sink in: the second largest animal in the world. The largest being the blue whale. Like WHAT??????????? I got to witness this gorgeous masterpiece of creation feeding and living its best life FIRST row. Despite it staring to rain, wind picking up, temperatures dropping, we kept it together and stayed at the top floor of the boat where we kept getting soaked. Was it worth it? Was IT-WORTH-it? The moment will always and forever repeat in my mind when that fin whale made its appearance and all I could do was scream in excitement and look in AWE. It as for sure a tear jerking moment and something I will always remember. What a highlight. We also saw porpoises just casually hanging out and being SO cute we thought they were dolphins AND got to see a humpback whale. I mean, it was a SHOW. Theatre of the ocean worth way more than what we paid for. Thank you to Captain Josh and the crew for being so amazing and incredible. I'm sorry but it takes about 5-10 minutes at least to undock the boat, so you're telling me the boat was GONE and in the WATER by 4:32PM? Beyond ridiculous. Read the email back from the ticket, maybe next time list that parties should be back BY 4:15PM. Key emphasis on the "BY"... not be back AT 4:30PM. Never will be riding again with this charter.
