They have coffees and teas of course but what definitely drew me in was the fantastic selection of homemade cakes. The carrot cake was absolutely fabulous! They also have a good menu of beers and wines as well as more substantial food. The beautifully decorated, modern interior is cosy and was brimming with people the entire time we were there on a Sunday afternoon. McTaggart's also has a handy location on High Street with a two minute walk to the train station, making it the perfect place to go after enjoying a day out to relax or warm up before a train out of town.

Why do I keep coming back?…read more Well, here is my answer: The food is always spot on. In the past, I've had seasonal mushrooms on toast, Smashed avocado with chilli flakes and tomatoes on toast and prawn tacos, all of which were very nice. I always opt for a ginger beer with lunch then a flat white to follow and haven't been disappointed yet. Usually, if I have a bit of a room let I share a cake with my mum. But why did the carrot cake have no icing? It needs the sweet stuff! The service has always been quick and delightful. The waitresses are are friendly and give you recommendations for the days menu! The café has lots of seating and we've always managed to get a seat no problem for lunch. Give it a shot, seriously why would you not. You can get a view of the Pentlands too!
