After getting a bite from the Stockbridge Market, I was getting quite thirsty. As we wandered around Stockbridge, we found this cute coffee shop. The space is cozy as we luckily found a couch to sit on. I ordered the Loose Leaf Tea (£2.50). It even came in a teapot and some milk, which was more than I was expecting. I also loved the Tiffany blue cups they have here --I'm a sucker for anything in my favorite colour. While we already ate, the food looked delicious as well as I peered over at those around us. Good spot to grab a drink or brunch in Stockbridge. read more

Really good coffee. On a nice day getting a seat outside is like finding a bar of gold in your cutlery drawer- it ain't gonna happen (unless that's where you store your gold bars). Which totally bums me out because I really really want to stay and drink heaps of coffee in the sun! Back to the coffee shop though. There are a few seats inside and by the window where it's nice and toasty. I've already mentioned that they do a mean latte, and the baked goods on offer are scrumptious. One less star because they open quite late on weekday mornings, I recall once banging in the door at 8.20am on a weekday and being sent away because I had to wait another 10 minutes and my tiny brain cannot fathom why. read more

On a walk back from groceries on Thursday, I looked up to find White Petal Flowers had (seemingly overnight) morphed into Artisan Roast/flower shop duo. Thinking back, it makes me a bit nervous I didn't see this coming, because I walk past this place daily... but my strange attention span aside, I was pretty darn happy at my "surprise coffeeshop" find. Why? Because it's a good 50 steps closer to me than Costa. It's also exceptionally better coffee than Costa, but I like to lead with the lazy and those 50 steps mean a great deal folks. The people working there are lovely, the big bay windows out front will be a charming place to spend the afternoon once spring hits and my flat white was excellent. More research needs to be completed (it's a tough life), but if this place offers wifi, you're looking at my new out-of-office office. read more

Ok, I'll be honest from the start... this review probably isn't the fairest, as I am a "hold my hands up in the air", self-proclaimed Artisan Roast groupie! The truth is, that the Edinburgh coffee scene rivals London for the best in the UK, without having to travel on tubes to get to them, which in my opinion immediately makes it better. Artisan Roast has to be up there with the best of the best, and this coffee house in the cute, suburb of Stockbridge is no exception. The edgy hip hop beats pulsing through the speakers reflects the dark grey walls and industrial lighting, but with the super sweet florist inside, shows it also has a softer side. The staff are as brilliant as the other artisan roasts, and my coffees are always fantastic. I usually opt for a flat white, and their house blend espresso goes perfectly with the milk. If that's not your thing, they also have a selection of pour overs available. With the full frontal window, it's the perfect way to spend a grey Edinburgh day, and watch the people of Stockbridge go by. And now I can say that I have visited all 3 of the A.R branches I know about (if there's more, let me know... I'll be there before you can say "flat white"). read more

Fab coffee ! I've been hearing about Artisans roast for the last year but have never seem to make my way there till yesterday! I'm so glad I finally made it here! My soya latte was delicious! Rich and dark roast so yummy. Sometimes the smaller size coffees really annoy me because it's just "so-so" coffee.. But this espresso was so delicious I was happy with my smaller size , each sip was a wee taste of heaven ! I also had a lovely slice of fresh blueberry coconut cake that was moist and super tasty ! I definitely make my way back for another lovely latte . The bummer was there was no free wifi and my phone didn't get reception sitting in the back ! Which means my partner and I just had to talk! Haha so I guess it's a benefit too;) The flower shop that's in the same shop make it a hip and beautiful atmosphere ! read more

I was having the kind of day where, half way through it, I needed a gentle caffeinated prod. Artisan Roast was a very safe bet and it didn't disappoint. I wouldn't say that I don't like strong coffee but I'm not a frequent coffee drinker and I don't enjoy coffee that tastes bitter or overpowering. So I really appreciated Artisan's smooth yet rich latte; just the perfect balance. When those can't-keep-your-eyes-open days come, as they often do, you may well find me at Artisan Roast. read more

Waking up on a Saturday morning in the lovely Stockbridge area, we headed out for brunch and then a walk. I think I was caught up in the moment as I decided I needed a coffee (even though I rarely drink it) so we popped into Artisan Roast. I'm already a fan of Artisan Roast but hadn't been to this location. It's a bit minimalist and slick, and yet feels warm and welcoming. My long black was quickly made and handed over for the reasonable price of £2.20. Staff were friendly. The place was pretty much full at 10.30am on a Saturday with a mix of folk - couples, solos doing uni work/research, that kind of thing. All up, an eclectic mix of people and a cool vibe. I usually grab my AR coffee at Hula, but today I was in the Stockbridge area and needed lunch and refuel of coffee. I hadn't tried AR's new place yet, so it's defo a double whammy. Inside the tables are rustic as the whole interior, but it's cosy, which is quite weird considering flower shops need be kept very cool (yes I said flower shop) but that covered by having the flowers in a display cooler that is quite cold. AR shares the shop with The White Flower Company. So it has a very different feel than a regular coffee place. It's still relaxing, though. Plenty of seats to sit down and chill with that AR coffee. There is a back room if the first tables are taken! Looks somewhat quieter than that of the main room too. Possibly of latch malfunctions in the toilet - please fix this AR. Sitting on the throne and having a visitor isn't on my list of top priorities. People pull the door too hard as there is no sign to say if the toilet is vacant or not and then the latch jumps! Ta Dah! Anyway, Back to coffee chat. Flat White was exceptional good and the sandwich with smoked cheese, olives, cucumber and more was pretty darn tasty too. Would I be back? Yeah sure! read more

Flower shop and coffee shop sharing a lovely space. I'm a huge AR fan so the coffee is always great here. Its usually a latte for me and it was great. No cake this time. The site in the centre of Stockbridge is lovely and the seats at the window get the sun on a sunny day so it was a popular spot for grabbing coffee and catching up with the weekend papers. read more

The smell of freshly brewed coffee lured me in here this morning on my way to the post office and I'm so glad I stopped. It's so welcoming inside with lovely little wooden tables, a counter filled with fresh croissants and beautiful flowers in the background. It doubles up as a designer boutiquey florist - not a carnation in sight... Thankfully! I decided to sit in and enjoy the surroundings and had a great view of the little boutique shops in Stockbridge opening up for the day and people passing by. A great wee start to the day, great coffee and service with a smile. read more

Controversially, I don't really rate this place very highly. I mean it's o.k. and it's clearly very popular but I think it's been hyped up a bit. O.k coffee, o.k. cake, o.k service and o.k decor. Mate I was with loves the place but she was drinking a pot of tea. So, yeah, there's nothing wrong with this branch of Artisan Roast but in a city full of independent coffee shops, it just doesn't stand out to me. read more
