Emerald Necklace Inn & Tearoom

The best Bed&Breakfast of all time! The place is very super…read morecozy. They have a small room for hot drink, that you can have it anytime. The rooms are always nice and clean. Especially their breakfast! Every time we go up to Cleveland, Emerald necklace is always No.1 for us to book. Love love and love this place.

We showed up after hours, and left before breakfast. The review is based off solely our overnight experience. The place is very boutique like. Small rooms maybe 4 or 5 rooms. Upon arrival we self checked in by code and received our key by the door. The pictures online are very different than what the rooms actually look like. Very tiny, very outdated, very dark. The balcony view is on the main road so it's not much of a view. The room is old fashioned but cute. It gets the job done for sleeping and getting ready. Very tiny bathroom. The 2 person tub in the room is not a bad touch however it takes forever to fill up, and drain. It is a duel tub/shower combo so you have options. A nice arsenal of shower supplies are available. The bed is extremely old. Very noisy. It is a small Queen bed with not very good pillows. We brought our own. The real big issue with the Inn is there is almost zero privacy. All the rooms are very close by, and the walls are paper thin. At numerous different times we would be able to hear other people just talking normal. Not being over the top loud, just normal conversations. The Inn also has a community room with tea, coffee, mini fridge etc however that location right In the middle, makes that even possible to hear anyone speaking in that location. I know it's early Spring but the grounds need a little TLC. Dead flowers, dead branches, a bunch of junk and misc supplies laying around. They have a walkway to walk through the "gardens" but it's not a good time to walk through right now. Very unorganized and messy. The Inn has a chance to be neat. A little upkeep, a little more space and you never know. The Host or Innkeepers are not there so they have instructions on how to reach them and how to access certain things. The check in- check out process is easy. I'm not sure if the place is worth the price $125 as the location is nearby a lot of different things but you can probably get the same experience at a normal hotel. I probably would not be interested staying again The beds hurt my back and people talking at all hours got annoying. I had to have my tv loud just to block out the chatter. I would probably give this place a 6.9 to 7 points out of 10.

While parking was included in the hotel fee (YAY!), the garage was not attached and was a hike away. While I was able to park and unload (leaving my stuff unattended inside) before heading to the garage when checking in - I had to lug all my stuff to the garage when I was leaving. The hotel staff was polite in answering my question about the credit card I had used to swipe into the garage - and the pass they gave me to get out. Room was lovely and big. We are 2 double bed people. There were beds and also a sitting area. And the usual amenities - fridge, coffee maker, etc. Bathroom was clean and linens plush. TV was nice and swiveled to watch from around the room. Wifi was a bit challenging. Fitness room looked nice but didn't get to use it as it was a short stay for me. Breakfast was nice - one of the better options you'll see when included with the room. They actually checked you in the serving room as I guess all guests are not eligible for it. Location is nice - we walked to dinner across the street. And it's right off the freeway. This is in my old hometown but the area was undeveloped when I was growing up. If you're looking for a place to stay - highly recommend except for the parking issue.

I booked this place in desperation because I am here for a funeral, and every car rental company was closed and their website said they had an airport shuttle. I called the hotel and it rang probably 100 times and they finally answered and they said there's no shuttle. I had to take an Uber and it was $30 for 3 miles. Once we got to the room at 3:30am, explained how tired I am and how much of a nightmare it was to get there (flights canceled, delays, etc). Just to make small talk...the guy said nothing. Not a word. He even seemed annoyed. I stopped talking, he hands me a keycard, and tells me it's upstairs. UPSTAIRS!!! Literally there are no elevators and I had 3 pieces of luggage, and I was with my mom who has bad knees. So, as soon as I said "You don't ha-" "NOPE!" While shaking his head about an elevator or a room downstairs. Now that upset me. Zero sympathy, zero anything. This was quite possibly the worst experience ever. Just wait till you see the pics!!!

Our room was on the second floor- while walking on the balcony we noticed most of the rooms were closed off and windows blocked out. Kinda weird. Half way to our room there was a pretty big hole in the walkway straight through to floor 1. Alarming. We arrived super later and just needed to crash somewhere for a few hours before our flight. Our non smoking room smelled like a bar and there were actually c*m stains on the couch. The sheets had blood on them as well. We slept in our car.

It was a really nice hotel and we had some really lovely times in here. I mean really exciting and sinful. Nobody really knows how to use a hotel room the way I do LOL. Or should I say we do. Check in was fine, and we "did it" nice and early. We went out for Angelo's amazing baked potato pizza and then came back and had a fun night. We woke up at the crack of dawn so she could fly out of the airport... which isn't really nearby at all to be honest. Then I came back to the room and had a nap in the perfume-and-baby-oil-soaked sheets.

There was food on the floor, it took five minutes for the woman at the front desk to arrive, and it smelled like smoke. After flagging the food on the floor the front desk clerk said it was normal for there to be an exchange of food between people staying there. When I arrived to the room it reeked of cigarette smoke, there were stains on the bed, and there was mold in the bathroom. To sit down on the bed I had to put a towel down. I felt so uncomfortable, and started to feel ill from the smoke. I left after one hour. I have called multiple times for a refund and have been denied because I 'spent time in the room.' I would give this negative stars if I could, it was vile.

From the time I arrived to the hotel, I received unprofessional service from the front desk representative, Morgan. She was unfriendly and somewhat rude when she spoke to me, during the check-in process. She never took the time to explain anything about the hotel's amenities, their cleaning service schedule, local restaurants and attractions, etc. Any hotel I've ever stayed at in the past, their front desk representatives have always shared that information with me as well as welcomed me to their hotel, inquired about whether I had stayed there before so they knew how to better assist me, and they would even take an interest as to the reason for my stay. I thought this was common professional etiquette from a hotel's front desk representatives, but apparently not when you're staying at the Hampton Inn! Although the room appeared neat, upon my arrival, the shower floor was dirty and remained that way the entire stay so I assume cleaning the shower isn't part of their cleaning protocol, which seems very unsanitary to me! Upon learning the cleaning service for the room was only done every other day, I requested mine be done daily. However, they never provided me with the daily cleaning service despite numerous phone calls to the front desk. During each call, I let them know that my room, once again, had trash and dirty towels along with an unmade bed, upon my return. The only thing calling the front desk did was cause another employee, Joe, to begin treating me rudely instead of actually fixing the cleaning problem. This was not how he treated me previously so it was somewhat of a surprise especially when I had complimented him to another employee, during one of the phone calls to the front desk. After seeing the change in his attitude, I decided to avoid dealing with the employees so that I wasn't treated even worse and to just get through my stay there! After I returned home, I emailed Hampton's Corporate Office with my complaints regarding the unprofessional service I received and the lack of cleaning services provided. They responded and offered me a certificate for a free one-night stay, which I declined. The certificate doesn't undo the way I was treated, and I have no intention of returning to a Hampton Inn if this is how their employees are trained to treat their guests! I would not recommend this specific location or any other location if this is the type of service they continue to provide to their guests. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable except to be treated respectfully and to have a clean room daily. Next time I'll stay at the Comfort Inn where my daughter said she has ALWAYS had extremely positive experiences any time she stays there! I hope the Hampton Inn will work at improving the training they provide to their employees so another guest isn't forced to have the unfavorable experiences I endured, during a time that was supposed to be full of fun for my daughter's surprise party, which was the reason for my stay at the hotel!
