Nice place with a good selection of beers and cocktails. They do drink and food specials pretty often, most recently a Bourbon Root Beer Float that was pretty tasty. A bit more upscale than a pub but not quite as fancy as a cocktail bar, with a nice mix of people and good music. The place seems to fill up a bit on weekends, unsurprisingly, but there is a large beer garden in the back if you don't mind the smokers. The food menu also looks pretty interesting but I have not yet eaten here. read more

One of those pubs that has something for everyone. It was a bit too trendy for my tastes, but then it did serve real ale and the music selection it played was both interesting and good. It was also a bit busier than I would like, but as most people seemed to like to clot together near the bar, there were still tables free. There is also an outside area on the recently pedestrianised street outside and apparently a garden out back which I completely missed. I appreciate that bars like this exist because it is great to come to with a group of different tastes. I wouldn't visit otherwise, however. read more

Nice place to have a few cocktails and some nachos on the side! They make a gingerbread man cocktail which is to die for! well especially if you like chocolate! Many different styles of Mojito's also at this place. Slightly pricey but good quality overall. read more

I love the Orange Tree! Wooden floor, mismatched chairs, funky art work on the walls. The menu's great - ranges from light bites such as nachos through sandwiches/wraps/salads/homemade burgers through to 'proper' main courses. One of the ony decent places to go out in the city centre is the Orange Tree. Kookie retro interior teamed with local artists work on the walls makes for a relaxing kookie atmosphere. The cocktail are great especially the toblerone martini and the food is incredible value for money on the whole. Gets very busy early on till roughly eleven at night on weekeds and also busy on thursdays. However thursdays are mostly full of young students / people as a pre warning. Along with great cocktails theres also a good selection of nice beers on tap such as hoegarden and starapomen, mocktails are also an option for designated drivers and are also of a high standard. read more

Part of a chain in Leicester, with the Landsdowne and that other one I can't remember the name of. This is a nice place to hang out, cool decor, friendly staff and good music. There is also a lovely patio area out the back where they often have barbeques in summer. The food is beautiful, never had a criticism and the menu changes often enough to keep you interested. However, the food and the drinks are getting more and more expensive in there. Talking I think £3.20 for a pint of Staropramen - I used to think £2.70 was a lot in there!!! Unusual little bar - part of a small chain. Decent cocktails - which you can get discount on if you are a member of their cocktail club. Cosy, good outdoor area that strengths out to the car park- it is heated as well - nice to see local artists selling stuff on their walls which leads to a bright and comfortable mishmash enivironment. Never tried the food but heard it is lovely! Preferred place to meet people at the start of the night as it suits most tastes. Hopefully Highcross will be good for their business! read more

The Orange Tree is to all intents and purposes a cocktail bar, though they do a selection of ales and regular drinks. It is located right at the heart of the city centre and is conveniently located near the recently opened Highcross shopping centre. First things first, this is not Weatherspoons, you won't find super cheap deals on drinks. You will however get the choice of some simply delicious cocktails that are certainly worth paying more and if you wish to have a regular drink the option is there. The atmosphere in here is much more relaxed than many of the other pubs/bars in the city centre and it is quite popular as a bar to go to before heading onto a club. They also offer a well priced and varied food menu which offers everything from light snacks to multi-course meals. read more

Mixed crowd, liked the front area more than the back. Way way way too loud music, couldnt ear anything anyone say anything. I just remember saying like this all evening; Huh? What's that? Say again? Unless you are a regular don't expect to be served at the bar. On numerous occasions I've stood at the bar to be served and waited patiently just to be ignored :( staff often gather at one end and just chat. When there are lots of customers you do expect to wait but the female staff just kept serving the people who came up next to me. When I spoke up to say hello and when another couple saw what was happening and also tried to highlight me the bar lady blanked us all. So rude. I wondered if it was because I am short but it happens every time I've gone in and my friends say they have had the same experience. So folks go there if you are a pal of the bar staff or a university student, my uni days are behind me by 16 yrs so maybe they think I'm not 'out there' enough lol read more

The Orange Tree started up at the beginning of the influx of new pubs and bars in Leicester, but whereas most have gone to the wall three times over, the Orange Tree has kept going throughout. Food is surprisingly good, decor is random (but works) and it's one of the few city centre pubs with a beer garden. Could do with a bigger choice of ales, but like the O Bar (owned by the same people), it has a good cocktail menu. read more

I hadn't been to Leicester for a while and was happily surprised by The Orange Tree with its great decor, vibe and lovely food. It was a bit studenty on the night I was there but there was still a great mix of laid back people out to enjoy themselves. I hope it's still there next time I go back. read more

Quirky, with a reasonable outside space and good food. Sadly though this is spooky by the ridiculous ramshackle furniture that you cannot sit and eat at as the tables are often too low for the chairs. Alternative is the scutty sunken sofas. This was a place so full of promise but instead the staff exude that clique mentality and the decor needs revising and a new direction sought. read more

Also, the food is lovely and always freshly cooked. It's not your standard pub grub from a microwave stuff. And it's very reasonably priced too. Aw the little orange tree. This is a cute little place, although I heard they being done for trade discrimination as the place is neather orange or a treebut thats besides the point. The point is they do loads of cocktails yeahthe staff thing they are like Tom Cruise or something. Bless em. NIce and chilled out in the day tho. My favourite bar in Leicester. If you want a chain pub that's been decorated from 'The Pub Catalogue' and serves cheap booze, this is not for you. It looks a bit scruffy with the old wooden floor and chairs but the sofas are great. The food is really tasty, the cocktails are numerous and the art on the walls is random. The best bit though is the beer garden. In the summer months there are few places in the City to sit outside that's not on a pavement. The garden and the pub can get a little busy but have a great atmosphere. read more
