Hands down the best Italian restaurant in McHenry County...and easily our go-to for date nights…read more We've been here multiple times, and I can honestly say we've never had a bad dish. The food is consistently incredible, and the portions are huge...you'll definitely be taking some home for lunch the next day. One thing that really sets Cucina Bella apart is the layout and atmosphere. They have three distinct seating areas, and each gives you a totally different experience. If you're looking for a more upbeat, lively vibe, grab a table near the bar. For a quieter, more romantic date night, the main dining room is perfect. They also have an overflow dining area, which is great when they're busy (and they usually are for a reason). The wine selection is excellent, and the bar staff can make just about any cocktail you're in the mood for. Whether you're celebrating something special, going out on a first date, or just want a great Italian meal, this place delivers every time. If you're anywhere near Algonquin and craving Italian, this spot is an absolute must!

I sat at the bar and met the owner. I got a beef roll. Haven't seen one of these since working in Ottawa. A beef roll in roast beef in a pastry. I love them. Got mine with mozzarella and hot giandanara. I also got a scampi noodle dish that was excellent. It's a beautiful restaurant that has opened up in my neighborhood. Clean restrooms. Pepsi. No Coke. Great bar. Service was quick. Food was hot and delicious. Nice family run business that I recommend everyone to visit. Great pizza too. Hidden gem.

Wanted to try this place. We're big foodies so it was nice to discover something new. It seemed…read moreodd that there was only 1 older couple in the restaurant and just us until we got our bill to leave, another couple walked in. Thought that was strange at 5-6 on a Sunday; core dinner hours. I had the chicken parmesan. I added on meat sauce for another $4 making it $25.99 total. Doesn't come with any sides other than garlic bread. 2 people in our party had the rigatoni, $13.99 each and then another $4 for meat sauce making one of the dishes $17.99. Again, only comes with garlic bread. My husband ordered the pan pizza with mushrooms and sausage. The older couple that was in the restaurant when we arrived was hyping up the pizza saying it was wonderful and had a thick crust and the pan came with so much cheese. When the pan pizza came out, it was thin, maybe more like double dough? But not a pan or at least what we in Chicago are used to calling a pan pizza. After talking to the manager, it was explained to us that because they cook this pizza in a pan, That's why they call it pan, not that the crust is any thicker. For $23.49 for a medium 12", he quickly rejected it, and sent it back to the kitchen. We will most likely never be back because the prices seemed a little high for some pasta and pizza and never mind the fact that we were the only people in the restaurant and we were never offered refills on our drinks & the Parmesan cheese was never sent to the table, I had to ask for that. As friendly as our server was, the service is definitely lacking for having been the only patrons in the restaurant for just about an hour.
