Visiting Moncton with a tour group. This afternoon plan was for a lobster boat excursion - I said no way, instead spent the afternoon in the city. So glad I did as I has the best fish and chips (mashed potatoes) ever! Real potatoes! Super tartar sauce so good I wanted to drink it (usually never touch the tartar sauce). And a tasty, light vinaigrette coleslaw. Wonderful service. I sat outside where I enjoyed watching local street life. Afterwards I walked over to see the Tidal Bore! We just ate there for the 2nd time on Saturday. Once again we weren't disappointed! The service was great and the food was amazing!. My husband was worried about ordering the $10 steak special but wasn't disappointed and is still talking about it!. I love like absolutely LOVE their Irish nachos I travel a lot and try nachos every where I go and these are by far the best I've ever had!. It was more like a serving and a half, and it all went down well with a pint of Moose Pale ale. Awesome location on Main Street. I ordered the fish and chips with a poutine, and had some of the kettle chips nachos. And I could barely eat it. It made me feel horrible because it's extremely greasy. Your food doesn't have to be drenched in grease to be good. But it all tasted good besides that. That's my only recommendation/opinion. read more

I love this place! We usually visit once a week (for the past few months) and the food is always delicious and fresh. I've tried their hot crab and artichoke dip, fish cakes, pan fried haddock, pulled pork, burgers, chicken curry on chips; all fantastic. Their Greek salad is one of the best I've had; I get that often. They serve brunch on the weekends, and you can't beat their eggs benedict!The eggs are always poached per my request; the ham is tender and flaky and it's on a yummy biscuit. Best breakfast in town. I do not plan to go here again. Our burgers were very dry. I'm sure they were cooked from frozen. The bun was stale. We shared an order of chicken wings. We asked for some hot sauce on the side, which they charged us for. The beer was flat. The service was slow, and the server was cranky. I felt like I was imposing when I asked her for a glass of water - which never came. While it's possible that there are good menu items, it was unanimous among our group of five that everything we ordered was bad. We still talk about it. read more

Was in Moncton for business after a trip to Dublin. Still in the mood I decided to walk in for lunch. The place is dark and pretty close to some of the pubs I experienced in Dublin. They had traditional music piped in which helped the atmosphere. Service is excellent and just attentive enough to not pester. One of the lunch specials were the Fish & Chips. I ordered it with a side of curry for my chips, they kindly obliged with a nice little side; just the perfect amount for $2 extra. The tartar sauce was usual, and the side of cole slaw replaced the mushy peas. Now for the important part...the cod. Unfortunately, this is where they and most places in North America fail. 1. Frozen cod - just wrong 2. Thin and small piece - tsk tsk tsk 3. Batter was dark due to the old cooking oil. Another that falls into the pile of unworthy fish and chips list. I wanted to like this place but the kitchen will have to step it up to match the front of the house. It will be interesting to compare them against the other Moncton establishments. I passed a place called Deluxe Fish and Chips. If I step in, I will let you know what I think. read more

At the Old Triangle in Moncton, customer satisfaction is the least of their concern. If you plan on asking for bread to eat with your meal, be prepared to pay $3.75 for 2 slices of toast with a bit of garlic butter. If you can't eat the potato salad because it tastes and looks like it been prepared 2 weeks ago, don't bother complaining to their chef or manager - they will not offer to replace it with salad or rice, and will not remove the cost from your bill. They will even argue that it is perfectly fine (even if 3 people from the same table cannot eat it). Here is a little advice if you eat at the Old Triangle, - ask for the price of any side dish before they serve you and do not complain about anything, as client satisfaction or even plain courtesy, is definetely not their priority. Waiting on a friend I decided to brave what I expected to be an assault of my senses was actually a pleasant surprise. 2:30pm on a Thursday...Potato Nachos and beer...it was ok...service was good, waitress was friendly and helpful. Came here on a quick date night with the hubs. They were not busy this Tuesday night because they were closing early for a private party. There was Irish music playing and the atmosphere was lovely. We ordered a bowl of Kinsale Seafood Chowder to share. It came with a buttermilk biscuit and really hit the spot. It was very yummy. I ordered the shepherds pie which came with a side. I order extra masked potatoes. It came out piping hot and was delicious. My husband ordered the pan fried haddock with mashed potatoes. The whole time he ate he could be heard saying, "mmm mm mmmmm!" Arrived here last Sunday - was happy to find an Irish bar in Moncton with Irish food on the menu. The reason for the 1 star is for the terrible service. Three of us arrived at 2.05PM, sat near the door and I immediately asked our server if I could have the Irish breakfast (called the Ulster fry). She said 'sorry, we stop serving that at 2PM'. I suggested to her that it was just a few minutes after 2PM and she said 'Sorry'. She didn't even check with the kitchen. So I studied the menu again and said - 'I'll have the boxty special' ..and she said 'sorry, we don't serve that on the weekend'. At this point I'm getting a bit paranoid that she simply doesn't want to serve me food. I ordered the curry chips - mediocre. Bag of Knorr version of curry. Overall, I don't completely blame our server, but if she had any cop-on or interest in serving she'd have at least faked that she'd like to help us! We told her that we wouldn't be back. The pint of Guinness was just OK too..... All in all, skip the crap triangle. read more

It's a typical Irish pub on the inside. There is a good selection of beer on tap. I asked the server what they were known for and one of the items she mentioned was the fish and chips. I've had fish and chips all over the world from Shanghai to London to Miami to Bonavista. A lot of places over cook the fish and that was the case here. Great traditional Irish pub in downtown Moncton. Live music advertised for certain nights, although not when we were there. A few large "snugs" located in the back of the pub. We had the fish & chips and pulled pork sandwich which were both great. Our first pint tasted flat to us, and the waitress gladly brought us another round. Bar service was absolutely amazing!! Being from Ontario me and my partner are not familiar with the local areas to drink and eat. We have never felt more welcomed and appreciated then we have at this establishment in Moncton. Would recommend to everyone I know! 10/10 would come back!! The selection of beer is incredible. The atmosphere is old, dark, etc but that's been my experience in most Irish Pubs that have been around for a while so I can look passed the atmosphere.
