The owner runs the tearoom and B&B and has a few helpers here and there. There are I believe, 4 room options. Two of the rooms can accommodate small families and the others are very quaint, perfect for a couple. All of the rooms have their own bathrooms, and are extremely spacious. I stayed in the room upstairs, I believe it was Room 4, and it had a queen bed and a twin bed with the best bathroom ever! What's great about this B&B, is that you can bring your own groceries in (and purchase them down the street at the local shop), and the owner provides a big kitchen all exclusively for her guests. Some people may not like this, as they expect prepared food service. But the woman who works there provides milk, cereal, bread and butter AND she has the tearoom connected to the B&B. The scones are all homemade by her, which are to die for, and has the best pastries I've ever had. They also have a barista there as well. The coffee is sublime and nothing like what people have these days. She grinds the coffee beans and has plenty of options for the perfect cuppa jo. There are also tons of options to choose from as far as tea goes as well! Once you have all of your necessities for your day, if the weather permits, you can sit out on the front of the property, and enjoy the scenic view of the loch. Along with the tearoom, joint with it is a gallery. The owner loves to showcase other artists from around Scotland and sell their work in the gallery. Please have a look at her website and see what there is to offer! She is also on facebook! The price is a smidge high for a stay, but you won't regret it and it's the best price for the area you'll be in. You are literally a 7 minute walk from Eileen Donan Castle and an even shorter walk to the Clachan (Dornie's adorable little pub). B&B main judgement bar for me? Tea and coffee facilities. Great, with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, all clean, bathroom is lovely and modern, excellent shower, fluffy, nice smelling bath robes (great after you've been a tit and just thrown yourself in the fairy pools in the autumn rain). Big, gentlemen style, green leather sofas to cosy up on in the lounge area with a night cap, super comfy beds, all well equipped and well kept. On top of the breakfast view, the food is great. I had the Blairdhu Cairn, black pudding and poached egg balanced on top of tatty scone. Fruit, yoghurts, cake, cereals and your standard fare to help yourself to too, with nice jams and marmalades as well. There are tellies in the room and in the room for breakfast with the news on, free wifi, and ample parking. I intend to go to skye again soon, because I love it, and I want to see the dinosaur footprints they discovered, practically immediately after we got back, and I would happily stay here again when I do.

The property has 6 rooms and is situated on a large elevated spacious lot with plenty of parking and free Wi-Fi. Guests enjoy a gorgeous view from the guest lounge/breakfast room and from some guest rooms. The double room was nicely decorated, it had a large comfortable bed with reading lights on either side and a duvet with high-quality linens. Amenities included robes (aka dressing gowns), hair dryer, in-room tea and flat screen TV. The modern bathroom featured a stall shower (with plenty of hot water) fluffy towels, shampoo/bath gel and a vanity with space for your toiletries. Our room did not have a view but was quiet and private, the large window faced the side garden. The breakfast options include a full Scottish breakfast as well as many other healthy choices to suit all tastes, service was friendly and efficient. Our host Fiona was helpful and welcoming. She accepts cash or credit card (with a small additional fee of ~3%).

We tried the full Scottish breakfast one morning and the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs the next. Both were excellent, and portions very generous. At £55/night (not peak season), Shepherd's Cottage was one of the most reasonably priced B&Bs in the area, but was simply great. Would highly recommend stopping here if you're in the Lochalsh area.

I was staying with my mother at the only twin room. That room is sharing a bathroom outside the room with another guest room. Luckily, the other room was empty and we had the option of taking a bath in big bathtub! We could see the port from the window, but I'm sure the other rooms would have better view as per the website photos. There was only one funny smell when entering the room, not sure why, and forgot to mention to the owner. The breakfast was really good!! Served porridge ourselves from a slow-cooker that was available in the dining area, keeping it warm for everyone. Glass jars for water with ice, juice served in glass jars, good strong coffee. Neither me or my mother are big fans of the black pudding, but the one they had was so tasty. I loved the sun rising on top of the hill opposite of the guest house - some warm before the hail that followed that day! Would I go back? Yes, to try one of the other rooms though!

In order to keep it as new, the manager welcomes you with a lot of rules. In addition to a surveillance camera that reacts with a motion detector - i.e. is always switched on - you are filmed every time you enter and exit the main door the main . The rooms are tiny and low. The two attic rooms are not recommended for people taller than 165 cm. In addition, it is extremely warm in the upper rooms, which was mentioned as a precautionary measure and is to be accepted. You are not allowed to wear shoes in the house, you cannot eat anything warm in your room, the breakfast offer is extremely limited and you are watched by the manager while you are having breakfast, which creates an extremely unpleasant atmosphere. Smoking is only allowed in the parking lot opposite. There was no hot water the first night but was then fixed. So unfortunately a disappointment.

Comfort…read more(much-enjoyed after a long day's hike along the West Highland Way), amenities, hot shower with great water pressure, soaps and lotions, soft towels (and robes!), yummy treats/snacks in our room, wonderful food options at breakfast, gluten-free and dairy-free snacks and breakfast items. Plus wonderful views out of our window, and a pub right next door! Free in-room wifi - that worked! If we'd needed to stock up on snacks for the next day's walk, there's a grocery store right across the street.
