Wow.
This is definitely a place of acquired tastes, come night time, but honestly - given the lashings of fun and laughter we had in here on the Yelp Horsforth crawl, I could do nothing but sing its praises. Sing being the operative word, and you'll know what I mean by that should you read on.
Horsforth. I'm getting to be really fond of the place. Or, perhaps it was the company, as we traversed the various Town Streets seeking out decent sips. We tried six or seven pubs on this one crawl, and ended the night here, which is probably the wisest move if you're drinking weekend-style in this wee town.
Let's mark it up. Atmosphere. Bags of it. Designer and slightly plastic bags of it. The range of folks making up the Friday night crowd varied wildly in age range, but not in style - the ladies and gents here brought their a-game in tan, make up, and hair spray. And were all entirely jolly, rowdy as you like, and determined to make an impression on the karaoke.
That's right. Friday is karaoke night. Being latecomers, we didn't get a look in! (And I'm told the chap was rather brusque in denying us a sing. Meh.) However, nothing quite beats an evening of silky serenade from a silver fox, doing his very best Elvis, or some cheeky ladies banging out a Cyndi Lauper. Girls just wanna have fun, right?
Drinks. Standard choices. Which is fine when you're in Horsforth, as bar the TST you'll not be getting much in the way of specialist boozes, so far as we could tell from the places we tried. (There are at least six more to investigate, so there's hope yet.) Prices are fine alongside it, and it's large, warm, and fairly friendly. So friendly, one of our crew made a new pal - albeit a pal whose cider was, unbeknownst to him, unfortunately leaking onto his crotch. This mattered not!
On a sunny evening in Horsforth, when the company is a likely lot whose banter is as forthcoming as the karaoke in the Kings, this is the spot you should find yourself. Being tipsy is required first, and being drunk by the end almost mandatory - but even for Saturday's pain, I wouldn't have done things any differently. read more
