Really cute hotel. Really has the "oldie-worldie' type feel to it that makes it adorable. Lovely fires at the bar. Great customer service.

The location is beautiful right across from Bangor Marina with parking on street in front or a small carpark behind the hotel. The breakfast is delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful and their is always someone there to help if you need anything at all. The bar and club that are attached are both very good. The club on a Saturday was full of a wide range of people. It is hen and stag friendly with DJ Danny Dee playing some old school dance with plenty of drinks offers available. The swimming pool and jacuzzi area is first class. Best way to cure a hangover...swim and a bubbling scorching jacuzzi! Fab...

Apparently there was a wedding that no one bothered to tell me about when making reservations. Obnoxiously loud music played well past midnight making sleep essentially impossible. I tossed and turned on the lumpy mattress wishing that I didn't have to hear "Country Roads" played so badly that John Denver was turning in his grave. Although there was no bath mat of any kind for the slippery shower room floor, there was a little black curly hair waiting to greet me in the tub, and the tile looked like it needed a thorough deep clean. There were no outlets anywhere near the bed making it difficult to charge my phone. To finish things off, the door did not meet the threshold and the resulting gap let in light and the sounds of drunken guests wandering the hallway. All in all, it was a complete letdown.

One of Bangor's finest, frequented by Hollywood A-listers and North Down A-listers alike. The Salty…read moreDog has an unmatched ambience, certainly unmatched in Bangor, and the cuisine is as good as you get any where in NI. They pride themselves on local fresh produce and this translates to their menu which is full of seafood (it's on the coast). The staff in the Salty Dog are exceptional, they have excellent knowledge of the menu and the wine lists. Don't make the mistake of asking for a white wine because they have loads and it will only expose your lack of wine knowledge as it did on my case. It seems that other reviewers have had mixed experiences of The Salty Dog but every time I've been in I have throughly enjoyed myself and my grub. I am heading back again soon - so it's 4 stars for now and they might get the coveted fifth if the latest experience matches the previous ones.

The restaurant itself is very well decorated, very glamorous and luxurious. Not what you would expect from the bar area. A new menu had commenced that day , so the waitress seemed a little unsure on some of the dishes but I think it slightly harsh to critique on that. The new menu had a great selection - I opted for the salt and pepper burger. Great portion sizes, really well presented and most importantly tasted great. 5* so far! My only let down was the dessert. I prefer a more indulgent selection, but that's personal choice. I settled on the lemon posset with mango and passionfruit sorbet. The sorbet was good but the posset was a lot more runny that I would have liked and my husband agreed. It had popping candy on top, which I thought might be nice but it felt like they just threw it on trying to be different. Didn't really work for me. Overall though I would give this place a 4*, being the first night perhaps the posset has since been perfected. I wouldn't say no for a rejudge.

The manager was SOOOO apologetic and cleaned our place right away and left us a little gift. I wish I'd remembered her name because she was so sweet. Pro: the continental breakfast was really good and continued my daily full Irish/ulster breakfast. Con: there's some work being done outside and our view from the window was awful. Just a ton of garbage. I know they're working but they'd be good to clean what they could because there was just a bunch of trash to look at.

Today, Dobbin's is a hotel, and has a popular bar and restaurant which is hugely popular with both locals and visitors to the town. The interior is decorated throughout keeping in mind the age and history of the building, and provides a comfortable and homely environment. Opening each morning from 9am, there is a fantastic range of foods available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, using fresh locally sourced produce, the menu changes regularly and is absolutely delicious. I particularly recommend their cooked breakfasts! At night, the bar is a lively spot for a few drinks, and they host various live music, karaoke and quiz nights. The staff are very friendly and the owners take a keen interest in the running of the establishment and are always available to give you any local information if needed.

What began as a one-night stay quickly turned into three and even then, it was hard to leave. The house is impeccably clean, and our room had so many thoughtful touches, such as chocolates, tea, and hot chocolate waiting for us. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, and Pauline made sure we were familiar with how to use the shower. Our ground-floor room overlooked her blooming garden, a lovely, peaceful view to wake up to each morning. During our visit, the house was being reroofed due to storm damage, yet Pauline made sure the roofers didn't start too early so we wouldn't be disturbed. That attention to detail speaks volumes about the care she puts into her guests' experience. The breakfasts were truly exceptional - completely bespoke, with anything you want prepared just the way you like it. Enjoying a delicious meal served on crystal, china, and silver while gazing out over the lough felt like such a treat - elegant, relaxing, and deeply satisfying. An amazing way to start each day! Pauline goes above and beyond to help with anything you might want to do in the area. Whether it's arranging tea at the Merchant Hotel or booking tours of the Titanic exhibit, she takes care of it with enthusiasm and efficiency. Her recommendations of local businesses made our trip so much easier and she even arranged to have our laundry done! Her husband, Ambrose, is also a delight--charming, insightful, and a pleasure to chat with. Leaving Hargreaves House felt like saying goodbye to family. Both my granddaughter and I felt an immediate connection, as though we'd known Pauline and Ambrose for years. We left with full hearts and wonderful memories. We can't wait to return!
