We did go on the tour at 10:30am, I think this runs daily (as we came on a Tuesday). The tour was about $17/18 and went for 45minutes. The guide went through the history of the distillery and the whisky making process in a good amount of detail. We also sampled two of the undiluted whiskies which are not available to the public. We were shown the distilling equipment and the barrel store. The guide also explained the history behind the barrels and let us in on facts about pricing. The products here are of a very reasonable price I think. The whisky has received good reviews and is about $80 for 750mL. I am not a whisky drinker, but will add what Thomas K thinks when he gets his bottle. Overall the venue is in a great setting and well worth a visit. Very friendly and accommodating staff. I would recommend to any yelpers and friends.

There was shaved chocolate in the whipped cream and chocolate syrup. So decadent. The eggs Benedict and scrambled eggs were free range chicken sourced and prepared perfectly. My wife said the sauce tasted freshly made and not packaged. This place does not show up under restaurants but should because of the delicious food served. They also have an impressive chocolate museum and chocolate factory insight. Really an amazing place.

I didn't even have to push this issue myself, as the friend I visited near INSISTED that we visit Thirty Three Cups for breakfast the next morning, because apparently any visitor is a good excuse for her to eat their corn fritter dish. She spoke so highly of said fritters that, despite a very enticing menu in its entirety, all three of us ordered them. Those fritters are what is UP. Woman knows what she is talking ABOUT. There was every opportunity to hype that dish to the point of overhyping, and yet we were still blown away by how tasty that combination of classic, battery corn fritters with smoked chicken made us so happy that all three of us basically licked our plates clean. Also good was: the coffee, the stocking of Henry's ginger beer (aka My NW Crack Juice), the cheerful service, the cool fitout, the wall scribblings, that mural! The only negative was the lack of an all-day breakfast menu but heck, even the lunch menu looked like I could bury my face in it quite contentedly. I can't begin to detract stars for that singular reason, especially as I'm still thinking 'bout dem fritters weeks later. Take me back to the north west coast! Heck, take me back to ULVERSTONE! Laneway Cafe was brought to my attention back during my work for the Ten Days on the Island…read morefestival in March. Each of the ten "festival towns" had a "supper club", a festival takeover of a local venue, and in Devonport the supper club was at Laneway Cafe. Laneway is in a laneway (legit name, tick) off Steele St in the centre of town, just down from an adorably-curated vintage store called Mr Wolf. I'm still full from breakfast in Burnie (it's only half an hour down the road) so I perch at the window bench and have a coffee and a delicious fresh juice. Laneway is brimming with patrons of all ages, enjoying a Saturday lunch out with friends and family. So nice. The space itself is gorgeous, and as well as a cafe this place also markets itself as a delicatessen, and I make eyes at the cheese fridge before reminding myself there's still around four hours of driving ahead of me. Definitely heading back here again next time I'm up north. I need to give that food menu a good run for its money!
