Not only is the store itself a complete mess but the owner is awful. she continued to follow me and my friend around the store saying how COVID is fake and to take of our masks (she wasn't wearing one) and also tried to force us into a religion. when i tried to ignore her she banged on her desk and yelled at me to pay attention. i was scared if i left without her being finished talking or if i ignored her, that she would get aggressive. i highly recommend that you stay far far away from this store. read more

Avoid this place! My friend, who is visually impaired, visited the store with friends about a week ago while on vacation, and the woman working there pressured her into buying an led-lighted branch arrangement. My friend didn't receive any of the paperwork or the box. The woman just put it in a bag, and it wasn't until my friend got it home to Ottawa that she realized the power supply was broken. She called the shop and explained the problem and asked if a replacement power supply could be mailed to her. The woman outright refused to do anything, and suggested that my friend come back to the store. That's not going to happen, first of all because of the distance, and also because this woman was very pushy and insisted on grabbing my friend's hands and making her pray to get her sight back. I won't even get into how inappropriate that was. Bottom line, my friend paid $50 for a broken light arrangement which she will now have to spend time and energy to make work. Steer clear! read more

I would like to express my feelings on a trip to the beautiful town of Westport. A friend and I wanted to visit as we heard that it was a beautiful area. We parked the car and walked by this store called The Northern Edge, decided to go in and investigate. I have never been through anything like this in my entire life, the owner met us at the door, with a friendly greeting, telling us how rich she was, how fortunate in life she was and then started following us. She wouldn't let me look at anything in the store just kept asking me questions and when asked what religion I was(which should have been a red flag) I innocently answered. Well, she informs me that I immediately have to remove the evil out of my body, she kept on and on even mentioned she knew who my minister/priest was, where my church was located and that it was evil. My friend, noticing what was going on kept trying to get me away from her. The owner then said to her "I know what you're trying to do". I walked over to my friend and whispered thank you, well she heard me and yelled "I heard that". From that moment on it was hell to get out of that store, my friend walked to the door but this lady would not let me go. She told my friend to leave that I was staying, she reached out to touch my arm, I stepped back, this weird feeling came over me, I was so upset, she kept saying she had to get the evil out of me, she could see it in my eyes, and wanted me to repeat this prayer. I refused to, she then said, when you go to bed tonight you must repeat this prayer. I'm trying to get closer to the door, my friend said "We have to go" the owner said you go, leave my store immediately, she's staying. There was a point in time that we almost called 911 for help. I have never been accosted like this in my life, when I left there I could hardly think straight and I was shaking. I was told that I was white as a ghost. We walked around then went to relax and recuperate at a local restaurant. I will go back to Westport again but I will definitely walk on the opposite side of the street of this store. My friend arrived early and engaged in a wonderful discussion about wildlife, and Toronto raccoons. She keeps a stuffed animal to guard her office. It sounds like a lovely cackling witch. I spent 5 minutes in this store while my sister and her boyfriend shopped. Ingrid, a lovely woman, showed me pictures of her successful businesses and many beautiful Catilacs. we had a lovely chat about health foods and she recommended my mother cut tomatoes and start supplementing with Cod Liver Oil for Arthritis. I may have been lucky in not belonging to a religion. From the moment I met Ingrid I was struck by her presence of being and intensity. For a woman going 49 on 76 she can sure keep the ball rolling. I feel blessed to have felt this incredible woman's energy and can only hope to be possessed of such when I am older. read more

My friend and I decided to visit Westport last Friday,. We dropped in The Northern Edge. What a horrible experience that was. The owner started talking as soon as we came into the store. She was talking about her religion. My friend got drilled about religion and how evil her eyes were. I was browsing at some of the things in the store but realized my friend was getting very uncomfortable and almost panicking. I went up to them and told my friend to come and see something that she might be interested in. My friend was happy to get away from her and thanked me for it. The owner heard that and really got into her. Again, I went back and told my friend that we really had to go right now, but the owner insisted that I leave but keep the friend there. We finally made it out of there, but by then my friend is shaking and really upset. I strongly recommend that nobody goes into that store. The owner is scary as hell. read more

Before I even write this review, I should mention that all the other reviews are the SAME, and everything they say is TRUE. I came here with family friends for a vacation. it started raining so we took shelter in this store. As we walked in, the owner immediately started talking to us, making little conversation, but it soon took a HORRIBLE turn and she began to push her religion on us. Which isn't really a religion because she claims to be Christian but was saying horrible things that normal Christians should never say! To keep it short, this lady thinks everyone is a sinner and should accept Jesus, that you go to hell if you aren't religious or if you don't say the prayer. she FORCED us to say a prayer before we left. The people I was with walked away as it was very VERY uncomfortable to hear her talk about her life, how she was rich but that it wasn't money that made her rich, but that god gave her all 7 business, and helps her to go to other countries and help feed children. She insisted we stay and pray with her and that if we didn't we would go to hell. She asked us about our jobs and what we do and that we were meant to be there to show other people the way to god. She seemed clinically insane. Once our friends left she told us that they were going to hell for not staying and praying!! So we finally got to leave and when we got to the door she stopped us again and told us about her experience with another man that came into her store talking about Trump. Nothing she said even made sense, she claimed to be a sergeant to god. Keep in mind this woman is the store OWNER. She is there everyday and you cannot escape her. Awful experience. I actually wanted to buy a few things but was so scared she was going to kidnap me and make me pray again, that I didn't even dare. read more

My husband and I just moved to Westport with our children and while our children were at school my husband and I decided to go explore the village we went from shop to shop greeted by amazing people then we went in to The Northern Edge and my husband and I regretted it right away. At first the owner seemed nice greeted us with a smile asked us where we were from and told us a little about herself a little bit of bragging about how her husband passed and she got all this money blah blah blah. We looked around the store I noticed that some the things were a little dusty and outdated but it was fine didn't bother us then we went to leave and she started going on about her religion which was okay everyone has their own beliefs but we draw the line when someone starts telling us that if we do not believe in god or follow his ways that we were going to hell and then went on about telling us that homosexuality was a sin and that anyone who was was going to hell and then she wanted us to do a sinners prayer with her and that is where my husband flat out told the lady that she was preaching to the wrong two people and we walked out my husband was extremely upset and said we would ever go in there again because that is not how you treat customers. I have lived here for over a month now and have not set foot in that place and will not let my family go in the that place but still recommend The village of Westport for shopping they have other stores that are amazing and the people that work in them are so welcoming and friendly . read more

A friend and myself decided to take a trip to Westport as neither of us had been there in a really long time. We decided to pop into The Northern Edge and I wish we had never done so. We walked in and were greeted quickly and promptly. The store wasn't dirty or dusty. We browsed around for a little while and the owner chatted to us about her business and the treasures she had collected. My friend and I didn't mind listening as we both love to support smaller businesses and those with unique backgrounds are fascinating to us. She showed us some photos of the other businesses she owned and we listened intently for about 15 minutes, then suddenly the conversation took a ridiculous turn. She spent then 45 minutes ranting and raving about religion and how we need to stop being sinners and tell the "Lord" to forgive us. She than finally paused, but only to try to have my friend and myself repeat the "Sinners prayer" with her in the middle of the store and that we would then be "saved" but had to avoid gay people and marry our boyfriends right away because we were dirty and would contract deadly diseases. We walked out right away after that. We felt attacked and extremely uncomfortable. We will definitely not be returning nor will we be recommending this place to ANYONE. read more
