I discovered them online and marveled at their selection of rather rare toys at really excellent prices (not to mention I love their selection of gently used toys, too- I hate seeing perfectly good toys thrown out when other children can be enjoying them). Since I live on the other end of the country, I had some questions before purchasing. The staff were SO kind and knowledgeable, got back to me very quickly (over and over again- sorry, guys!) and went out of their way to help. I cannot recommend Toy Heaven enough, I will certainly buy more from them in the future. On behalf of me and my 4-year-old daughter- THANK YOU!!

Arlie's is a place I always check out when I'm in the Westport-Perth-Smith Falls area, just off the main drag in Smiths Falls. It has a terrific selection of books in a wide variety of genres - westerns, mysteries, sci-fi/fantasy, biographies, just about everything - and of course a special section on local/Ontario history. Remarkably, the store has expanded since I first visited, nearly doubling in size. I do wish that the opening hours were a little longer, but I make an effort to get there whenever I'm in the area.

I had tried one…read moreof their soft, chewy, tasty toffees at a Yelp event (Thanks Amanda!!) and fell in love with this sample of tastiness. I'm sold! It was busy in here when I walked into the shop on a beautiful Saturday afternoon! There was a hub in the centre displaying packages of several different flavours of their toffee products, and i easily found the flavour I was looking for: salted caramel. There are several toffees in the package, and this one sells for $14.00. There was a pretzel toffee that was slightly more expensive. None of the toffees are sold individually, so you can't try before you buy. However, they also offered a maple flavour. I stopped looking any further for now... ... But seriously, this might be a place to shop every couple of months or so (I dare not go more often!), to try out the variety. I might be in serious trouble here!! I will DEFINITELY be back!!

One room is set up with a sample of a family entertainment centre, complete with easy-boy chairs, and looks just like what you'd want the movies to be - so comfortable. They do sell stereo equipment, but I think their TV selection is their big movers and shakers. Very impressive! I bought a gift certificate there. Very convenient!

Had to run 4 speaker wires from controller in unfinished basement to the kitchen, which was being renovated and installer told he could cut holes anywhere as needed. Young inexperienced wire puller could not tell me best locations for speakers and ran into issues, so called in Supervisor, who I nearly kicked out of my home for being so rude as I messed up his schedule and he was told the ceiling was open. So we go things wired and when ceiling was repaired 2 gents came in to install the gear. They left a couple of greasy thumb prints on my new ceiling, and didn't have the proper tool to full cut out one speaker hole, which which my contractor completed. I don't begrudge folks making money, but for the few hours of installation effort, I paid just under $1,000 for a simple, non-complex job. And SAV does not take a cut of that I'm told, so contractors are being paid crazy amounts. Should have negotiated this on a per hour basis, perhaps you can.....

New Oak Tree (Carleton Place, Ontario)…read more Given the sexy TV commercials, my wife and I were excited to make our first visit to the 'New Oak Tree' store located in Carleton Place. We drove all the way from Ottawa hoping to buy a new set of dining room furniture. Although the store wasn't busy, sales staff initially avoided greeting us. Two male staff in a different part of the store stared strangely at me and my wife, like they were sizing us up. Eventually, a salesman came over, but he only aggressively demanded to know where exactly in their lot I had parked my car. After telling him, he suggested I "check over" the furniture and then abruptly walked away. While my wife and I were shopping, I just happened to look out the window and noticed their salesman checking out my car in the parking lot. When another salesman approached me, he was all business and very high pressure; hoping no doubt to make a quick sale, like I was ordering lunch at a fast-food restaurant. I did notice that some furniture on display was badly damaged and seemed to be poorly made. Looking at a hutch the door wouldn't open, the latch was broken and not properly lined-up. Also, a different salesman or possibly a supervisor took a phone call during our visit. I couldn't help but overhear and was shocked at how loud, rude and aggressive this employee was with an upset customer who had phoned the store. Given my unpleasant experience, I will never go back to the New Oak Tree and can't recommend this business to anyone. I would have given a rating with no stars, but this isn't possible when submitting a review.
