My name's Yee Gan and I'm a Strictly Come Dancing fan. So, I was very happy to receive tickets to…read moreMidnight Tango for Christmas from my friend who I go dancing with Midnight Tango is the dance show headlined by 2 of Strictly's stars, Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace. Set in a dusky South American bar, the production showcases this couple's signature Argentinian tango though there were interesting variations set to samba, waltz, rumba and cha cha cha rhythms Supported by an able dance troupe, there were several great ensemble numbers but the best dances came with Vincent and Flavia's couple spots, epitomised by the grand Argentine tango finale and their rumba-esque love dance in the second half. Their years together as a dance partnership is evident from the chemistry and some of the intricate intertwining legwork was amazing At the heart of the story was a touching love story between the grouchy barman and his long-suffering wife who both finally overcame their years of 'familiarity breeds contempt' marriage to re-discover their love through dance. They also shared the show's best comic moments and as we're constantly reminded in Strictly, a good dance should tell a story and the entire story of the show is conveyed without any dialogue What made the show were the rhythms and tunes produced by the live band. Cleverly introduced at the start of the show by adding the instruments one by one, the audience could appreciate the increasing layers of complexity as the violin was joined successively by the accordion, piano, double bass and percussion. Toe tappingly good music aided by the vocal soloist This show will continue on its UK show next week

Opening night of "Measure for Measure" was ultimately a success. Warning, they have chosen to…read morealienate more than half of Americans with their opening video montage and insinuations. I almost walked out before the play started. However, I wanted to give the actors a chance to overcome the distasteful display of hate and assumptions. When they have Prince Andrew and Mendelson to target, they target the President of the United States. Not every play goer is hateful and against Our President. That said, there are the typical opening night issues. Long pauses that indicated lines were forgotten or missed. The sound was also a bit off. About who showed anger or severe emotional pain by screaming, were hard to understand and sounds muffled and lost. Either the actors were not annunciating or the sound was too high on they're mics. There seemed to be a few missed cues, as well. So if that said, this okay was fantastic and the kinks will be worked out in time. I wasn't sure about the minimalistic staging and lack of scenery, but I couldn't have been more impressed with the way the actors worked the bare stage making my imagination take over and seeing an entirely different experience in my mind. The acting was superb! Luccio came in a little rough, but he really stole the show by the end of the post. Well done! I would recommend the theater, as it is a bucket list for many thespians and okay goers! What an incredible production. Unfortunately, I allowed the RSC website to pick my seats. I ended up in a straight high back chair where my legs dangled and I couldn't see the entire state and videos in the background. It probably helped me be distracted by the disrespect they were insinuating. I would never buy tickets with these seats again. Almost intolerable, so the acting and entire production overshadowed what I didn't care for. Next time, if I'm lucky enough to be back in Stratford Upon Avon, I would return. Tolerance and giving things a chance worked out for me. I also live Shakespeare and am a thespian at heart.

Several levels of seating. Upper seating has railing in front which obstructs view. Need to lean…read moreforward for clear view. The two performances I have been to have been entertaining. Most of cast do a good job. Ushers helpful. Need to open bags for security check. Recommend online ticket purchase.

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre - Went to the rooftop bar for drinks. Very nice. It was a little cold outside but view looked very amazing. Drinks were relatively expensive.

OK, this is a delayed review as I went to see a play in this Open Air Theater in the summer. We…read morewere watching "The Merchant of Venice" and it was amazing. The actors (most of them rather young) were fully involved in the play and the stage set was designed ingeniously. I was amazed to see how so few props and such small crew of actors made up a play with so many different characters. Outstanding. Sadly last years summer was one of the wettest ever and many of the shows had to be cancelled and the open air theater as a whole did not attract enough business. They are now lacking the means to produce shows for this year. So far no plays have been announced. Very sad ... very sad indeed.

We don't just want to leave those books on the shelf though, we take them down, hand them around, share them out and bring them to life. All over Oxford we find unusual spaces - these stories aren't set in theatres so we don't put them there. Castles, antique mirror tents, college gardens, bookshops and factories... we'll go wherever the stories take us, and so far we've taken over 500,000 people with us. Our shows are eccentric, unexpected, fun, lively, quirky, fast and definitely not like any version you've seen before. From the thousands of children who've told classic stories in new ways through our education programme, to our professional actors and directors, you're always most likely to find us lost in a good book. 18 years, 54 shows, half a million audience members aged 5-95...we are Oxford's own Creation Theatre Company.
