I had a hair appointment for my curly hair on my 50th birthday. Amber was so great, she listened to what my hopes were and matched what I wanted. She educated and spent time showing me how and what to style my hair with. They say a new hairstyle can help you let go of the past, that's why so many people change their hair after a break up. I'd been eyeing TNP in Furgusons for years, and finally made it in to see Amber when it was my time for a new style. I specifically chose them because of Amber's message on the website about how hair effects mental health. I'd gone through a heartbreak and then a very traumatic life event right after. So going to see someone who understood how important it was to reinvent myself through hair was crucial. I also was a little intimidated to go to TNP in the past thinking that I maybe wasn't cool enough or young enough to rock the downtown hair cuts (even though I live downtown), but Amber put me at ease right away the second I walked in the door. I could tell it was a welcome space for all. The cut was amazing. Amber is a true artist and so knowledge about hair and head shapes. She was able to help me understand how to style it on my own and without hot tools! I was looking for a stylist that would cut my daughters hair, after endless research since it is so hard to find a good stylist that can cut a straight line; The Noise Project seemed to be it. I checked out their Yelp reviews and Amber's clean cuts caught my eye and I made my decision to go ahead and contact the shop. I sent her a text asking to schedule a cut for my daughter, and she replies asking how old my daughter was and what shape. I replied, and I got no text after. It's pretty evident that a lot of stylist do not want to cut children's hair which I can understand, do what makes you happy. However to ignore someone is wrong, I called the shop numerus of times and it would go straight to voicemail. I gave her three days to reply and I got nothing, so I reached out through their website and sent a message and long behold someone replied! She stated she had a "friend pass away" and that she wasn't taking new clients at the moment...okay, I don't want to be bias about her story but it just seemed like a cop out. Suddenly you're not taking any new clients, or is it highly because it's a toddler? I even replied that I was sorry for her lost but she did not mention that she wasn't taking new clients when I reached out the first time. My whole entire adult life I have always struggled to find a salon that has made me feel heard. As a thick wavy/curly haired girl, I've gone to many salons and upon walking in I've immediately felt out of place and like I didn't belong. The last stylist I ever went to left me in tears because the entire 6 hour service all she did was complain to me about my hair. She complained about how much hair I had and she didn't realize that it was going to be this much work and how she was going to have to charge me more because of it, even though I had been going to her for a while. I vowed to never go back to another salon again and I didn't for almost 2 years because of this. That was until I saw a good friend of mine post about this place. She had been going to Amber for a while and always came back with the coolest haircuts. I decided to take my chance and go for it. Needless to say I've found my forever home. Immediately upon walking in I felt accepted and actually wanted. I met both Amber and Thalia this visit, and genuinely they are both such incredibly sweet and positive people, they make you feel comfortable and at ease. Amber was my stylist and she really is amazing. She took the time to listen and make my hair goals a reality. She made me feel comfortable through out the whole process and made me feel really good about myself. It's crazy the difference in getting my haircut by someone who actually cares and listens vs the numerous times I've gone to a salon and unless I'm getting a crazy balayage, they just rush me out. So I did so much internet research for this cut because I was pretty nervous about choosing the wrong stylist for it and it getting totally botched. And thank god I did. Thalia is THE stylist for shags guys. She transformed my suuuuuuper grown out and long hair into a masterpiece. The best place ever. I don't say that just because my hair turned out better than I expected but rather the energy here will leave you feeling full. I had an appointment with Amber to do a sharp short blunt cut with a black color. When I arrived I had never visited the area but everyone was so kind. I saw Amber from across the hall and even with like 20 feet between us her energy was so warming. She had a few visitors while I was there which wasn't a bother at all, I literally met the nicest people that were just stopping in to say hello. I had great conversations with the visitors and the clients there. The whole process felt more like an experience than just a haircut. So cut to the good stuff, my hair as I mentioned turned out amazing! She first heard me out and we looked as a few lengths before making the final cut. The scalp massage was like heaven. There is no where else in the world I would rather go than here and having my hair done by Maddie! I had not been to a hairstylist in near 10 years. Box dying my blonde roots to black for 12. I finally built the courage for a change. After having 4 friends visit her regularly for years it gave me the confidence to make a move towards seeing if I wanted to commit to split hair color. I had a consultation with Her, and I could not have been more comfortable. The location is not only straight stunning, and the building quaint and unique, the people were lovely. Maddie was not only the kindest person ever, but she was EXTREMELY helpful walking me through what was and wasn't possible based off my hair history. Because my hair lifted well, and I had now fallen in love with the idea of the change, we decided to move forward. I had 0 idea how to explain what I wanted other than a picture, so Maddie explaining things so eloquently made me feel so confident that we would achieve my dream. She kept me in the loop as to where we were going to be by the end of the appointment . I absolutely know that any drastic hair change does not happen at a snap of the fingers. She still left me with hair I rocked for a month before going to this golden blonde, to allow my hair to rest. After today's appointment, I legit could not be happier with my gorgeous split hair color. I am so blessed that The noise Project opened, and Maddie took me on as a project.
