If you haven't visited Swallow Stories Bookshop off Main Street in downtown Lisle, you are truly…read moremissing out on a local gem. From the moment you walk up, the storefront is one of the most inviting and beautifully curated spaces I've seen. Everything inside feels custom, intentional, aesthetic, and incredibly welcoming. This family friendly shop has books for all ages and offers so much more than just shelves of great reads. They host craft events, story time, journaling meetups, chess classes, author signings, and even a book club you'll want to join. Whether you love writing, reading, or simply being surrounded by creativity, this is your place. There's a kids' table to draw on, warm tea and coffee, and cozy seating perfect for being a "couch potato" while exploring the many genres they carry. My personal favorites? The local artist wares for sale and the mystery book boxes such a fun and thoughtful touch. I felt so privileged to spend time there on Saturday. I'll say it before and I'll say it again: shop local. Support small businesses. Keep bookstores thriving.

There are tables set up for Chess and shelves with other local artisans' work available for purchase. The electric fireplace makes it feel so cozy. I love the children's area. There's even what looks like a little stage and a table with paper to draw on. There's a touch of magic as well. Wait for it...wait for it ...a secret bookshelf door! (Insert collective Oooh and Aaaahhh here). Keeping in mind that it's a new independent bookstore, it's important to ask if you want something that may not be on the shelves...they will happily order it for you. Please support this bookstore... it's adorable and is a wonderful addition to downtown Lisle!

We were able to get two calendars for $6.73. Besides calendars, they also have puzzles, board games, etc. I recommend checking them out. Just a FYI, they do open later than some of the other stores. On Sundays, they opened at noon. Service was good. It's located close to the kiddie haircut place.

They had such a huge selection of puzzles and there were other toys as well but I didn't really care about them myself. I spent some time looking through most of the puzzles they had and found quite a few that I would love to have. While I was checking out the puzzles the gentleman working the store came up to tell me that the sale on the. puzzles didn't start till the next day but they had put all the signage out earlier that day. I found this kind of sad as there were quite a few people in the store clearly shopping the puzzles and looking to buy some for the buy one get one for 50% off. As I was trying to not buy anything for myself really this trip I may not make it back during the sale but this is one of the few stores in the mall that I could probably enjoy shopping at. The only downside was putting signage out early which is misleading to the customers and the gentleman himself was a bit gruff. Not really the type that I expect to find in a toy store.
