I received beautiful color from Brooke and really enjoyed my time in her chair, however the hair cut was not really a cut as much as a trim and a light removal of some weight. I had submitted reference pictures when I booked the appointment so my expectation for a haircut was clear. Anyway, I went home a little uneasy with the lack of attention to the cut but decided to wait and wash it and see how it goes. As expected it just puffed up in a giant frizz ball and looked sloppy. For the first time in my life I called a salon saying I wasn't satisfied with the hair cut I received and asked if I could come and actually get a proper hair cut. The office manager responded quickly saying I come back for a *dry cut*. What I really needed was a haircut and told her that. She then went on to tell me that dry cuts are "actually better". This did not sit well with me. I have never received a dry cut alone, but have as part of a complete haircut. I felt as though my issue was not being taken care of properly so I cancelled my upcoming appointments and will not be returning. I felt as though they were unwilling to make things right. I had paid $380 (without tip) and now I'm going to a different salon to get a haircut to actually make the three hours of color I sat through make sense. For that price tag I honestly feel like I should look and feel amazing not half done. Again, Brooke did a wonderful job with the color and I really liked her, but I think she ran out of time. If she would have cut first I probably wouldn't have spent so much time or money on the color. And the office manager was unable to accommodate my request to come and receive the haircut that I had submitted to them before my appointment. read more

I messaged them on Instagram asking if they we're familiar with cutting Asian hair after scrolling thru their entire Instagram feed and not seeing a single non-white hair client. I also asked what their stance on social and racial justice is as I try to support small businesses with community-based values. On Valentines today I decided to love myself with a trip to The Noble Bear Hair Salon and, boy,do I know how to treat me right! It was an awesome experience, great haircut and color and I can say that I found my new salon! I was a little anxious when I arrived (even though my previous interactions with the owner via FB messenger and the receptionist over the phone were both examples of their excellent customer service) because: new salon jitters. Furthermore, I was the only person there all night! Didn't seem to bother anyone though and throughout my visit the entire staff - especially Brooke, my stylist, was completely attentive and I enjoyed chatting with them and hanging out in the AWESOME space! The Noble Bear has a great vibe - it's modern without being pretentious and also serene. OH I also got to snack on some complimentary chocolate covered strawberries and sip a lovely tea! What about the hair?! Everything I didn't even know I needed! I really had no idea what to do as far as color goes other than I wanted partial highlights and Brooke took the time to consult with me; my color is fabulous and natural looking! I showed her a picture of a style I wanted and again, she took the time to ask me what, specifically, I liked about the cut and how we could make it work for me. Totally precise cut and a great blow-out! She made sure to tell me that if I found something I didn't like, I could come back and have it fixed, though thankfully that never happened! You wanna know what it costs? Look at their pricing. And then be glad that you don't have to wonder what range of the typical $55 - 85 range YOUR haircut is going to fall into because they don't mess around like that, everything is flat-fee, which I really appreciate. I noticed a really cool purple neon sign in the salon that reads "Grounded in Gratitude." It's a healthy attitude that I try to live by as well. Trust that it's not just lip-service at TNBS; they salon sent me a h a n d w r i t t e n thank-you note after my visit. I was really happy with the total experience and will return! read more

I have known Katie (owner) for many years now and was so happy to see she finally opened her own salon. Ambler is the perfect spot to plant her roots down with her cozy yet chic salon. Katie and her staff are so attentive to every detail (offered and assortment of drinks/pour over coffee throughout and someone even went out to feed my meter!) you will not be disappointed. Having received cuts and colors all over Philadelphia and Washington DC I can attest that the prices here are more than reasonable - my cut and partial highlights was around $135....runs me well over $250 in other salons I have been to and have never been so happy with results. I have natural red hair so Katie is always careful to ensure my coloring still lets my red shine through. read more

Just had my first experience with Noble Bear and loved it so much! Everything was so clean. The decor is so trendy and cute. Steph did an AMAZING job with my cut. I really appreciated that masks were optional also!! If you want to wear them, wear them! If not, don't! It's a wonderful welcoming positive atmosphere here, which I feel like is hard to find in a salon. Will definitely be coming back! read more

I have been a long time client but I am really disappointed to see they are taking away masks. I have overheard stylists discussing their personal stance on masks and being vaccinated. This stylist will not be getting vaccinated and neither will her family. Her husband works in health care and wont be vaccinated. How on earth is responsible to then say yes please come in and dont wear a mask? How can I do that knowing that there is a person in there that is for sure not vaccinated and not wearing a mask. As much as I Have loved my time there I wont return because I am not prepared to risk how far we have come based on a selfish and ignorant stylist and the owner that is turning a blind eye. Everyone reading this should also think twice about visiting them. read more

Words can't explain what I just experienced again. They delete 1 star reviews so I had to repost mine from 3 weeks ago again like 5 th time. Called in to make an appointment for my haircut. Before I was told that my hairdresser Stephanie is booked until July. Today she was booked until May and I still couldn't get the appointment in May. Even though I told them I can wait and will take the one in May. Receptionist I believe her name was Nicole told me that she has to call me back because all of the sudden she got 10 people in front of her. I said that I'm the same client as those people and she should take my appointment first since I called before they showed up. She put me on hold for 15 min. Then she answered and said that the owner Katie who is so nasty will be calling me with the appointment. I asked why? She said if you don't like it that way we can't have you as the client. I lost it at that moment.... Like what in the world happening at that shady place???? I was following my hairdresser Stephanie for 12 yrs. In my opinion salon is racist and I have never seen any clients there besides white people. Ambler is very diverse town and they refuse to give service if you not White American. So sad! What to talk about first? The gorgeous space - or the kind staff - or most importantly, the fabulous, but fairly priced haircut? I guess I'll start with that! Katie, the owner of The Noble Bear Salon, listened to my concerns and wants during the consultation and her skill behind the chair showed when I ended up with a haircut that fit all my needs (most days I am not styling my hair and need it to still look okay), but still addressed my "problem areas" (it hangs too heavy in the back, but adding too many layers would make my hair look weird when I air dry it). I left the salon feeling like the best version of myself! Now, onto the rest of the team - I was greeted so warmly and offered amazing coffee made just for me from a local shop - it is SO good!! Now, onto the space. The Noble Bear Salon belongs in interior design magazines!! The space is open and clean, yet still filled with unique pieces and personality. I wanted to walk around and take it all in - it is such a special space - and Katie and her team are happy to let you enjoy the space - no rushing you in and out here!! I can tell that Katie put so much thought into each and every little element of the salon when creating it- for example, when you get your hair washed - this is the first salon where my neck doesnt feel uncomfortable right on the lip of the sink. In fact, the hair wash chairs have foot stools - it was SO comfortable and made the experience that much more enjoyable. This is just one example of the attention to detail that will go into your visit from start to finish. TL;DL - Walk, dont run to The Noble Bear Salon. Five star experience at The Noble Bear Salon. The beauty of the space is alone worth a visit.
