The Nines is a bar that's kind of a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde for me. Dr. Jekyll is late at night on the weekends. It attracts a similar crowd like Stir Ups and Kittners, bros and annoying 21 year old girls. The bar is loud and with dumb pop music, and is filled with bouncers/security. On evening during the week it can be a pretty chill place. They do have a wide selection of martinis, and several craft beers on tap. I event played Trivia there on a Wednesday night and it was a lot of fun. When it's Mr. Hyde, it's a Saturday morning during the Farmers Market is going on. They open up early with a bloody mary bar. It's $10, but it comes with your bloody mary and a FULL PINT of beer. All the fixings you can add are from vendors of the Market. A great example of a local business supporting other businesses. In the far back they have beer garden with another bar and a bunch of tables. It's a great way to soak in the hot sun with a cold beverage on a summer morning. read more

Went there with a group of friends after a show at the Meyer. The youngest person in our group was in her mid 40's. Oldest person is in his upper 50's. I am in my early 50's. We were all carded. Have no idea what there philosophy behind that is, but our group was carded. I didn't have my ID. I didn't get in. Definitely wasn't flattering to get carded. read more

Went for drinks after the Saturday Farmers Market, and it was fabulous! Drinks are great and cheap. They have an awesome Bloody Mary bar if you like those. I am not sure if there is food since we were never given a menu and I really didn't see anyone eating. There is a super cool patio in the back with a bar and tables. Go to the patio. I would not have done well indoors at this place. The patio was unique for Green Bay, nice wood and rustic metal, twinkle lights in an alley - but a nice alleyway. Enjoyed a summer bachelorette party here, one of our middle stops if you consider a 5pm-2am. Luckily I ended up kind-of-knowing the bartender, by chance. It appears to get sloppy at night. Judging by other reviews, perhaps this helped our experience. We stuck with bottled beer and shots (mandatory for bach parties). Ran into a rugby team with similar amount of guys to our girls; this also may have improved our night. Prices were on par with other trendy-young-people-mid-range bars on Washington Street. This area has been seeking new bars since Sky went out of business (yes, I'm still grieving that loss...). Bouncers(?) or people who were standing casually were able to be convinced to get patio heaters and bring them over to our table, as it got quite cold as the night went on. Staff similar to other places in Green Bay - you don't know how nice they are until you leave. read more

After a bar tender gave my credit card away to someone I spoke with the manager. He assured me he would keep an eye out for my information and the last 4 digits of my card number to be swiped. After I left and was on the phone with Chase I was informed my card was swiped one more time, 1 minute ago. I was already out of the bar for 20minutes since I had to wait "exceptional long hold times exceeding 15mins". That means my card was swiped again AFTER the manager had my information. He also tried sliding me $20 after he new his staff screwed up, multiple times. Like that's going to fix it. So later he calls me explaining he cannot find the card in the bar. I tell him about the situation, and how I'm in from out of town, and now his staff has taken my means of payment for the next day packer game. All he can give me is an "I'm sorry" trying to act like I was being uncooperative and trying to "calm me down" even though I was not raising my voice, simply telling him, in a stern tone, how his staff needs to change their practice. They should not be asking for an "Andrew", a very common name, but ask for my last name. He told me they stopped serving at 2:05, yet we were speaking with him right at 2am. I have my phone records calling chase at 2:09am as soon as I got to my car. He lied to me, which they probably have video and time stamps of the conversation. He told me there was no way my card could have been charged again. I don't think the Chase rep would just make that up. Moral of the story. Train your staff properly! Does that mean someone could add drinks to my tab by just saying "Andrew"? Completely unprofessional. This is a huge burden on me. This is pathetic for an establishment that is suppose to be one of the better bars downtown. Hopefully someone with some kind of authority there can see this. I was in from out of town and didn't even make it in the door of this place when the bouncer confiscated my ID claiming it was fake. Update: I am a 26 year old barred and licensed attorney in my home state and the bouncer was extremely disrespectful and gruff in telling me that I had to call the police in order to get my ID back. I walked outside and called the police, and the officers immediately established that my ID was legitimate and returned it to me. Upon this revelation, the manager had an extreme change of heart - becoming nice before telling me that this "happens all the time." Well, maybe you should improve your ID scanning system which apparently is wrong "all the time" rather than subjecting your staff and guests to the embarrassment of falsely labeling your guests as underage and having the local police come to correct the situation? Just a thought. Screw this bar. read more

So as you can see I don't typically write reviews, but I went to get their number because we needed to get in touch with him about someone using our credit card. We went to close the tab and the bar tender gave us someone else's card, we let her know it wasn't ours, and after she made a few excuses we finally asked to speak with a manager after she continued to remind us that it might not have been her that gave the card to the wrong person she got a manager. We looked up the charges in the card and saw that they used it 2 more times at the bar, and while speaking with the manager we provided the name on the card (even with a description of it) and asked that they do not accept charges from that card this evening because clearly it was given to the wrong person and they started to buy drinks with it. We left and called chase to get the card cancelled and while we were on the phone they let us know that there was 1 more charge made at that bar before we were able to put a hold on it. Clearly unprofessional, and they only ask for our first name when you go to close your tab, likely when you order drinks on it as well, so if you have a common name I wouldn't recommend going there and starting a tab. read more

So all together the staff is quite poor and only really have the location bringing in any sorts of revenue . However after visiting there over 5 times , the bouncers are by far the worst . They let my group of 4 friends through the door only to let me know that they reached max capacity . Needless to say this bar didn't get any of my friends money because they all walked out. This was the best bar we went to off the block. We hit Kittners and Stirups too which are all side by side. Best visit down here so far.

Stopped in after the farmers market for a Bloody Mary. Wow!! Not only do you get a full pint of beer as a chaser but they have an awesome Bloody Mary bar full of items they get at the farmers market!! The 2 bartenders were very sociable. We don't find that too often. I think this will be a must stop each time we come to town for the farmers market. read more

Not a fan...weird crowd and the drinks are weak/expensive.

We met some friends at the new The Nines after dinner Saturday night and liked it. The doorman in suit and tie welcomed us warmly out front, and the service was friendly and efficient. Located two doors down from the Meyer Theater, The Nines trends towards upscale and is a refreshingly trendy addition to the downtown strip. The cozy atmosphere towards the back of the bar is complemented by the garage door opening to Washington street. If you like your wine in a unique goblet glass, The Nines is worth a stop on your night out in Green Bay. read more

Bartenders are very rude. Stood there for over 20 minutes this past Friday trying to get served, as the bartender clearly favored any and all male customers (serving them as soon as they walked up) over me. I get that you may get better tips from guys sometimes but it is completely disrespectful to ignore me (and my other girl friends) for that long. We're never going back here. read more

I made a Yelp specifically so I could rant about how unfair The Nines acted towards myself and friends a few weeks ago. I went out for my birthday (a Tuesday night, mind you, so bars weren't busy at all) and at one point, we decided to go to The Nines. We were standing between their establishment and Stirrups smoking a cigarette. I asked the bouncer from outside what their birthday specials are (free beer and free rail). Kindly thanked him and continued smoking. My friend and her boyfriend are diddling around on the boyfriend's longboard, we're talking, and smoking, nothing obnoxious was happening at all. We finished smoking and tried to enter The Nines, when the bouncer says, "the bartender says you're too drunk. We're not letting you in." I thought this was a joke because we had maybe three drinks TOPS and we had not drawn any attention to ourselves otherwise. Plus, with this being a Tuesday, the bar was almost empty. I was and am still mad about this! Sure, the bartender has the right to refuse service but we were outside, the bartender was inside, she could not have known what was going on outside. This place is known for being overly priced and stuck up. I will honestly never step foot near The Nines again. I am so disappointed by the way my friends and I were treated. read more
