Impressive looking inn in the pretty village of Clapham. We visited as patrons of the pub but I noticed it also has rooms and it would be an ideal place to stay for walkers attempting nearby Ingleborough or the three peaks challenge. The decor inside was a bit of a surprise, I expected an old-fashioned characterful country inn however it was very modern with smart and very light coloured furnishing. Fortunately, our walk had been on a dry day so our boots weren't muddy or wet but I think I may have been a bit concerned if they had been. Now, I know that Peroni is notoriously expensive in pubs but I'd just completed a nine mile walk and a Peroni is what I wanted! :-) My pint came in at a whopping £4.90 though which certainly had the ouch factor in my book. I would put that at the very top end of pricing for Peroni in the north. In contrast, the food menu wasn't especially expensive for the area with mains averaging £12. Mains included Fish & Chips, Burgers, Risotto, Tagine, Hotpot and more and there were also sandwiches and sharing platters. We didn't dine so I can't comment on the quality of the food. The landlord was pleasant enough though somewhat distracted at the time of our visit and we had a pleasant sit outside in the beer garden to congratulate ourselves on our nine mile trek, toasted with my very expensive Peroni! read more
