I seriously CANNOT say enough about how well this program is run. I honestly wish all the spaces in my life were this intuitive, communicative, and professional. Every teacher and sub we have been exposed to has been an A+. It also has been so helpful for my kids to interact with working musicians who are at various stages of touring and recording. It makes the pursuit all the more real for them. The Soundlife performances are a wonderful risk free way for the kids to discover who they are as performers. It's sort of amazing how they find ways of building community while also offering 1:1 classes. Soundlife couldn't be easier to recommend.

I am a total beginner, and I am fully comfortable with a bunch of kids outperforming me. (Takes the pressure off.) But I was looking for a school or instructor that would incorporate performance (eventually), as that seems like a healthy motivator. I'm glad that I picked SoundLife because I'm really enjoying my lessons and getting a lot out of them. My instructor, Blake, is very knowledgeable, patient, and talented, and he gives me direction in bite-sized, manageable steps that make me feel like I'm getting somewhere instead of feeling overwhelmed and hopeless. Plus he's great at picking up bass riffs from songs that I bring in and teaching them to me effortlessly. I'm a few months in, and I look forward to seeing how much better I'll be in a few months more. I highly recommend.

The one the play was in was the smaller of the two, a 40+ seat small venue. The other theatre was being prepared for another show, I presume as there were some men working on a stage and the seats there were covered with plastic. That appeared to be the main stage as there were more seats. The seats in the B Theatre were very comfortable, cushioned movie theatre style seats. The venue is so intimate there really didn't appear to be any seat that wouldn't be good. A woman was there when I entered and she marked me off the list. I bought my ticket online and it was a will call matter. She handed me a program and as with many theatres, that is your ticket. The house opened about 10 minutes before the play started. Across from where she was doing the ticketing was a small area with snacks and drinks. There are bathrooms down a hall. This is a perfect venue for staging small plays.

That and an invitation from one of the cast members. This venue is pretty intimate, in other words, small, but it allows those in the nose bleed seats to see and hear the action too, unlike other venues where you might need a pair of binoculars. Everything is definitely worn but it works and I'm sure it's how admission costs are affordable. I'm not of this world of entertainment so I can't comment on the acoustics or lighting except that everything seemed to work. Seats were ok. Not in the best condition but, I also wasn't sitting on springs or metal. As for parking - this theater is on Pico. Street parking is available - just have to find a space. Overall - the place is OK. Been to better. Been to worse.

That alone shifted my mindset. The room feels serious in a motivating way, not intimidating. You can tell people show up because they care about getting better. Graham is the real deal. He doesn't waste time, and he doesn't give vague notes. He tells you exactly what you're doing, what's underneath it, and how to adjust so your work actually lands. You walk out of class knowing what to practice instead of feeling confused or overwhelmed. As someone just starting out, I felt like I was finally in the right place. If you're unsure where to begin or who to trust in this industry, audit a class. Seeing it for yourself is enough. This studio made acting feel doable, and that's honestly the biggest gift for a beginner.

I think Graham is a wonderful teacher. I made it clear from the start that my only goal was to train with Graham, which requires an invitation. When I asked about ongoing classes, I was told his classes were full, but that I would be placed just below his level and moved up after I completed the four week course with a different teacher. After completing the intensive, my card was charged without my knowledge for an additional four weeks of classes, and NOT with Graham. When I raised this with the office, they pointed to a "subscription" clause in the contract that allowed them to automatically charge my card. This was never clearly explained to me. I only enrolled in the initial program based on the understanding that I would be invited to train with Graham upon completion. Instead, I was unknowingly charged for more classes, with a different teacher, without consent. When I requested a refund, especially since I wouldn't even be in town to attend (which I explained to them) they refused... "No refunds". They told me I could take the classes when I returned to town, presenting that as a generous accommodation. However, they still would not guarantee placement with the teacher I originally requested. This experience felt misleading and very exploitative. Many actors are investing limited resources into their training, and transparency matters. Charging for services I did not knowingly approve, and could not attend, is unacceptable. I ultimately disputed the charge. After months of back-and-forth, they ruled in favor of the school based on the fine print referencing a subscription. That may be technically enforceable, but it was not clearly communicated, and it's disappointing. Mind you I paid for the intensive, additional classes with a teacher I didn't want based on a promise that wasn't fulfilled, and even booked private sessions with Graham.. all within two months. This company could have earned far more from me long term if they had acted with transparency and integrity. They were greedy and shortsighted. Do better.
