John, Stuart, and Bruno put their feelings on film...as well as their visions! After the films, was a Q & A session - downstairs, where the elite meet and eat. An assortment of brownie bits, cookies, cheese and cracker platters, lots of roasted almonds, and even a surprise Birthday Cake were available to feast on! And along with a tended bar of wines, waters and sodas. A wonderful jazz trio played in the background, and, above head height, there were cartoons being projected on the wall. Saw people we knew, and met friends we didn't know, until we met them. And it was nice to be out and about, (it's been a while) The staff was great, going the extra mile to get a chair for a senior holding a cane. We'll be back!

My favorite workshops are the ones run by Brendan Constantine; he's a genius and outstanding teacher. I would say that one of the employees recently had a bit of an arrogant attitude and talked down to me when I was in the bookstore after one of Brendan's recent workshops. She may want to work on that, particularly when she's talking about the poetry of my close friends and former classmates from my MFA program. You never know who someone may know. That aside, I highly recommend Beyond Baroque as I have been coming here for decades and it truly is a wonderful place for creative writers.

It tells potential students to reach out to the instructor before taking a class. The purpose of a website / marketing is to make it easier for the consumer to do business with you. No other studios do this. I just showed up for the first class and luckily saw another student who showed me where the entrance is. I've seen others do the same. Coco is warm and welcoming. Mark is off-putting and rude to most newcomers. It also lacks all basic information and policies you expect to see on a dance studio website - there is no bathroom, dressing rooms etc. There are no class policies, payment information, prices, anti-harassment policies, processes for how to report incidents. Customers are treated differently - I've seen some told to use the owner's bathroom in her home while others told to go across the street to the park. Communications are poor and myself and other students have driven a long way to attend class only to find out class was cancelled. Be prepared for mixed messages. I had been going there 4-5 times a week for a year and received nothing but positive feedback. I always felt welcome there. Out of the blue I received the nastiest, rudest, most threatening email from the owner I've ever received. For months she wouldn't give me a reason and refused to have a conversation about it like any reasonable person / business owner would have done in her position. It was insulting, rude and unnecessary. Not to mention completely passive aggressive. If there were a problem, wouldn't you pull them aside after class to chat or set-up time for a discussion? No, straight to threats. Please note: Coco is one of the best teachers I've ever studied with and this review/rating no way reflects on her. She is professional, communicates well, is patient and creates a true no judgement environment to learn in. She is also one of the best sources of information on tap. She truly wants to see her students grow. And she offers a true intro to tap class for adults which is difficult to find in any style of dance. I have not had the opportunity to study with Joseph or Lynn but have heard only good things.

I had seen Keano working security and bar-backing. He wasn't allowed to take food or drink orders, and when I asked why, he said he wasn't "qualified". He seemed to be the only person running food back and forth and other things constantly. The server I didn't even get her name but it was one time the tall blonde girl, and another time was the short light skinned girl. They both didn't seem to want to be working at all. Every time I went there, the servers were just bad. The girl Mya was amazing and friendly. The other 2 both times were very dismissive and rude. Both girls got my order wrong. One time the blonde just didn't bring my food and when confronted she had an attitude towards me like it was my mistake. Luckily Keano came and apologized for their mistakes. It's unfortunate that this place has 1 guy who seems to be doing more work than the rest, but is considered "unqualified" to take orders. The amount of time I've seen both servers waste just standing there or being on their phone while watching others working hard, is the exact example of what the lecture was about. Never knew this was here all these years in Venice! Now we know. Something a lil different than the abbot Kinney tourist fare, or oceanfront dive bar variety. May return shortly and try the Saturday brunch bc why not? Right. We Always enjoy food with live music and the beach nearby. It really doesn't get any better than that, esp in this LA Heatwave. It's the first horror to appear at the theater. Due yo the graphic nature and adult content it's 18+. I been communicating with Evelyn vis email snd have been working with George. Both of them so fantastic!!! Our play is part of the benefit series for their "save the main stage" campaign. The actors are phenomenal and been practicing for s month to bring madness with this play,right before Halloween!!! There is a pay parking facility across the street and meter parking up front. Very proud to be part of a little history on the theater world and glad its at the SM Playhouse.

The magician said he works in Disney cruises he was mostly keeping it PG. While exiting some of us were told if we wanted to see more magic to go another room. We of course were curious and went with . The room was much smaller. This time I was a bit closer to see the magic tricks that I gasp. The illusion on how we were being tricked was amusing. Not knowing what to expect my friend and I decided to stay for the evening event which was as a burlesque show. Adding the show was only 15 dollars . The ladies had an amazing performance along a live band which was quite entertaining. The hostess was extremely funny she was the best part of the burlesque show. Drinks were good only I was a little bit confused at first since the bartender showed me menu when I asked for the cocktails then when I asked for one she told me she wasn't making them but could put them in for me pointed at a guy next to her. I assumed she was putting them in since she said she could but no big deal we're waiting during intermission to add our drinks until the guy made them. One thing to add you can drink inside during both show. The difference was that during the burlesque performance there was someone inside ready to take drink orders and bring them to the seat . During the magic show you have to wait until intermission to get a drink .

We planned a private event with a host of, use of a lounge for food and guests and a show . We arrived and had a wonderful time at the pre show gathering and during the show . . Unfortunately after the show while the kids were playing in the lounge area the owner started yelling and scaring children. At one point he decided to yell and scream at two mothers and a grandmother and that was enough. The owner was asked to stop and remove himself from the situation and asked to communicate through his staff . His aggressive attitude sealing certainly garnered a response from one of the fathers . The owner then decided to then end the function and ordered everyone to leave. To the owner. If you don't want children at your location then don't book children's gatherings or shows. It will never be acceptable to yell at anyone

This is a not for profit and it has professional actors, kids and armatures. It is small and there is not a bad seat in the house. Most of the staff are volunteers so be nice. You can order from their website. It has a great selection of plays, from kids plays (called the YES program) to musicals and some very serious plays. We have been so many times and have never seen a bad play and if you have a kid, it is a must you take them there. The prices are so fair and they a little snack bar inside. There is nothing not to like about this theater. It has nice places to eat nearby and it is a great area.

So, some people who are reviewing the programming or staff are actually reviewing SMC, not BroadStage or vice versa. I have never attended an SMC performance so I can't speak to their programming or staffing, but BroadStage has very interesting programming & very kind staff. Since BroadStage programming is so eclectic, though, some of it just isn't of interest to me. Different strokes....
