As soon as things officially ended, whatever the family said to them, made me appear like I had done the worst thing imaginable. I have glowing references, have never had an issue with a family before or since, but Ashley did not help me with finding a new position, nor gave me the opportunity to talk about the situation again. I felt powerless and especially having had uprooted my whole life for this family, did not expect to experience an agency that did not support the nanny on top of that. I should have gotten 2 weeks pay because there was no reason for the treatment I received. It has been a year and I have since tried to reach out for potential families, applying, but I either get no response or, just like last week, an almost immediate email saying "The family has gone with another candidate," only to see the post on the website and up on their emails and social media, still very much active and seeking. It's disappointing to write this, as I had hoped the agency would have handled the situation with more integrity, ensuring I was heard, understanding the full picture, and helping me secure another placement. Nannies deserve protection. If a family can no longer afford services, that's understandable, but the way this unfolded left me in an incredibly disempowering position.
