He also takes piano there, and they teach drums as well. Great place!

Till this day I still look forward to my weekly lesson, working with Nate I've exceeded my expectations by far, not just learning to play guitar but actually learning to become a musician. Recently I joined the adult Jam session group that is taught by Eric and again I couldn't be happier with this new experience. Learning to play with a band is something I did not think I would be able to do with in the 2 years I have been playing.

We cannot say enough in support of Chet as a music instructor and the summer Music Program! Our…read moreson, now a college student, began guitar lessons with Chet when he was 12. Chet has the ability to quench the thirst for musical knowledge for both a 12 year old as well as a college student on both acoustic as well as electric guitar. Participating in the Summer Music Program, experiencing the recording studio and the weekly performance allowed for personal challenge, social interaction and growth. Our son is a better musician and a happier person because of Chet and the Summer Music Program! Naturally, we highly recommend it!

I took two courses at PFW and they were well worth it. I didn't know anything about woodworking…read moreexcept for what I learned in shop class in 7th grade, basic stuff. Here, they show you how to use each tool, with safety in mind. You are explained the details about wood grain and how it warps, and you get thorough answers to questions you may have. If you are a woman considering taking a course here, you will not get that 'I don't belong here' feeling, you know what I'm talking about ladies. The two instructors are pleasant and professional. The only thing I felt a little iffy about was walking to my car in that neighborhood after class, because you have to park in the street or take public transit, I'm not familiar with the area and it seems a little shady at first glance. I'm from a different ghetto, maybe if I knew this neighborhood better it wouldn't be so bad. Look it up on street view, it's in a residential area, no restaurants in short walking distance to get lunch so bring your own, but the instructors usually have lunch for the students. Unless you're vegetarian, definitely bring your own or you'll be taking a chance. They also have a pot of coffee and a snack to munch on at breakfast.

After a series of evening courses, I'm now much more confident in using tools, thinking about setting up a small home woodshop, and I have a new, beautiful bookcase in my house. The class had a mix of younger and older people, men and women, folks with all sorts of backgrounds, income levels, city v. suburbs. The instructors, Mario and Alan, give a good balance between keeping the class going overall and individual attention while working on each phase of the project. I can attest that they are both very patient and personable. Both Alan and Mario love woodworking and you learn as much from talking through tools or a particular project you might be thinking about for your house as you do from the more formal elements of the course. If you're thinking about woodworking as a hobby or want to see how furniture really comes together, I highly recommend this course.

YouTube videos are great but nothing beats in-person instruction. I will schedule private instruction if I hit another stumbling block in the future but until then I will definitely be taking some classes!

There were different workshops you could choose from, and since we had zero-zilch-nada glassmaking experience, we went for the super-beginner "Design a pendant workshop." For the four of us, Jim blocked out two hours for us, which was the perfect amount of time to get comfortable with the basics and complete our projects. We started off by Jim giving us safety tips, he explained the materials and tools, and then he created a pendant first and walked us through the process while we all watched. And then, one by one, each of us made our own! I cannot express to you how freakin' rad it is to work with a 3000-degree flame and creating something unique. There's also a very peaceful, zen-like quality to it... when you're working with the glass, that's the only thing you're thinking about. You're not dicking with your phone, you're not thinking about your electric bill; you're just present and in the moment... it's a beautiful thing. Anyway, as if all of these other 5-star reviews aren't enough to convince you, take my word for it: Jim and his classes are AMAZING, and this makes the perfect gift. Whether you're flying solo, you want to get Mom a cool treat, you wanna do something different for date night... Jim Loewer Glass is the way to go. We definitely got the glassmaking bug and can't wait to take other classes! PS: The building he works in is really cool, too. It's a cute section of town.
