So amazing to find an alternative to the over priced rentals. We just bought a refurbished violin for our son, and Luis was great.

My husband got a cord and liked the place a lot. I didn't go but he had good things to say after his visit so I wanted to share.

Anyway, we had planned a weekend trip to Carlsbad and searched for used bookstores in the area and Farenheit came up. So glad we stopped in and were able to walk out with a few books. Many vintage finds for all you collectors. Look closely and carefully as there are so many nooks and crannies in the shop where hidden gems can be found. You can find art books to cookbooks to history books. Please note that the shop's lease for this location is up soon. If you and anyone know of a space in Carlsbad Village, please contact the store owner Philip. He and this community deserve to have a bookstore. We are never too old or too young to learn. Grab a book and enjoy a good read! Lookout for the bargain books! And I loved the music played during our shopping experience, French jazz, which set the mood for our lunch in a local French cafe. This is a small shop but they've probably got something that will catch your interest. I bought a fat history book (no, not a book about the history of fatties, come on, now) for 1/3rd the normal price. And it is in perfect condition. I also appreciated the notes throughout the store encouraging the reading of banned books. Seems an appropriate message given the name of the bookshop. Plenty of free street parking in the area.

Old school, but old and new music is available and if you are looking for something, they may hold it or order it for you. For those of us who grew up in the 80's and 90's, we saw vinyl die and come alive again. It is still my preference for music at home and it is an extra plus if the lp also had the downloadable device option. Every year I attempt to head out to Record Store Day (RSD). My goal is to pick up unique items that have never been released, but more than anything, those 80's and 90's albums that were only made on CD. After a three hour wait in line this year, with only 380 different releases and only 3000 stores in the country with offerings, I came home with everything on my list, but one item out of stock. A total win. Five stars for variety and good set up outside to make shopping effiient. My only suggestion is to get a couple food trucks and dj or live music in the parking lot, playing something chill. #SpinRecords #Carlsbad #RSD #FortheWin

Hubs found another "happy place" in SD County!…read more Knowhere G&C is located in an industrial area of San Marcos, near an antique mall, several home furnishings stores and next to San Marcos Deli. This seems an ideal location, with plenty of free parking and, judging by the flow of pedestrian traffic in and out of this shop on a "Comic Book Wednesday" many customers agree. Hubs declared a large selection of comics, games and collectibles. He proudly emerged over an hour after parking with a smile on his cute nerdy face and a bag filled with reading materials in his hand. He was very surprised and happy that his purchase amount ~$80TL awarded him with a cool graphic novel. Happiness shortly turned to a bit of confusion when he took a moment to peruse his receipt and discovered he had been charged about 4x the amount he should have been for a comic. He checked online to make sure he didn't grab a ltd edition, or special release, and determined he hadn't. I waited while he returned inside. About 10 minutes he reemerged - HAPPY AGAIN! Seems the clerk, Daniel (guessing from the receipt ), didn't catch it and agreed it had been incorrectly priced. He further apologized saying he usually catches the comics over $20 and confirms the customer is aware when they are purchasing a more expensive issue. So Daniel was sorry he missed that completely. Hubs confirmed that he was still ok receiving the free graphic novel and was assured, yes, his purchase amount still qualified for the free novel. The over charge was returned to Hubs and he was happy with the store, Daniel and his customer service. Knowhere G&C has been bookmarked for our future SD road trips. Cheers! "CC"

They also still have a cozy Starbucks inside with the OG 90s/2000s decor. Okay, onto the whole reason I'm writing this review. TDLR I was gypped into joining their rewards program. I go to check out and am asked if I am a B&N member. I say that I am not and the cashier proceeds to inform me of this "special offer" they're offering to non-members today only. All he asks is my name and email. In hindsight, this was a red flag and was most certainly a gig to get me to sign up without explicitly saying so. Low and behold, I get handed a rewards card and the receipt reflects my new membership. I immediately phone into their support line (there's no option to do this yourself online) to deactivate my account. Hey, I get it. As an employee you have to always ask people to join. However, please just do the honorable thing and be straightforward and respectful if they decline. I can deal with persistence. What I do not appreciate is deceit. Slimy experience. I will not be back.

Whether I'm browsing for books, looking at gifts, or just wandering around, it's one of my favorite places to spend an hour or two. The employees have always been friendly and helpful, and there's plenty of parking in the shopping center. It can get pretty busy, especially on weekends, and the checkout line can move a little slowly at times, but that's really my only complaint. I also love the café. Grabbing a Starbucks drink and a snack while I browse is part of the experience for me. It's a fun place to spend time by yourself or even go on a casual date. One thing to keep in mind is that the café does not accept Starbucks gift cards, which was a surprise to me. Other than that, I highly recommend this location.
