I recently purchased a used Bogner Goldfinger from The Music Den in Randolph, NJ. When I got the amp home, I had a chance to properly play it but after 20 minutes, the front panel shut down and the preamps went silent. I contacted Bogner in Hollywood and they diagnosed the problem as an overheating 5 volt regulator. Having no experience with amp design, I took the amplifier to Andy Fuchs of Fuchs Amplification in Clifton, who diagnosed the same issue. Andy fixed the amp and even though they did not preauthorize the work, The Music Den did not hesitate in immediately covering the $250 repair. Chris and the whole crew at The Music Den were amazing throughout and a pleasure to deal with. I recommend The Music Den for their professionalism and courteous handling. And the inventory in their store is amazing..... Taylor, Boogie, Martin, to name a few. Spectacular inventory and a welcome experience. It's great to see a high end guitar store still competing and standing up to Reverb, GC and Sweetwater. In a world where local stores are disappearing to big box stores it is a pleasure to have shopped at Music Den. Even at over an hour from my home in Monmouth County, I will happily be back for future purchases. Great store worth the trip. If you play guitar, you should check them out. If you're looking for a guitar, go to the Music Den. The guys there are very knowledgeable, they will direct you to the right guitars for your playing style, size, preferences. This can take a while! They are patient and welcome all players regardless of skill level. If you're lonely or just want to get out of the house, go upstairs and make yourself comfortable on the couch and try out some cool guitars. Like a home away from home. I went to get a guitar repaired, they changed their quoted price 3 times and when I denied them and went to receive my instrument back, it was more damaged than before and the entire bridge had come up. The owner then threatened me and told me to call the cops- then stating he'd sue me if I did. Yelled at me and got in my face- borderline physical. Does not care about customers and even made fun of me for not wanting to spend 150$ on the repair when the repair anywhere else is only 75$. Really bad person, great business, but the owner is terrible human with a massive Napoleon complex. Literally cowered in fear and got choked up when I came back into the store after he yelled at me on the phone. What an absolute man child loser. read more

Not very customer focused. You can't touch anything unless you have a sales professional with you. All the tags on the guitars are placed in such a way that you can't see them so you need someone to help. They have 18 people in a group photo but in the store one sales professional helping one customer. Another customer asked if I worked there since he was looking to buy something. I walked out. I think this store just wants to display their items so you can look. It seems they don't really need to sell anything. not going back. Store has average stuff at regular prices so I do not need to spend my money there. They don't need it. read more

I brought my Epiphone Sheraton II Pro there for a simple setup. However, when I went to pick it up the frets were buzzing from the 12th fret and up on almost every string. I spoke to the guy I had dropped off the guitar with and specifically told him that I wanted the action low but with NO fret buzz. When I spoke with the so-called Technician about this, he apparently was not given this info from the person I had left the guitar with. No communication resulted in an overcharged guitar setup that was lousy. The tech said he would correct the problem as I watched him in his back room. All he did was raise the action by turning 2 bridge screws and not touching the neck adjustment or performing the intonation. When I questioned this and the fact that the strings were not correctly wound, he told me he has been doing this kind of work for over 30 years and knew what he was doing. This guy didn't even look 30 years old so who was he kidding! Being a Professional musician for over 50 years I know how guitars should be set up. I thought I'd give the Den a shot, but big mistake, lesson learned. This guitar was so bad that I had to sell it because it never played right again. This place is not the place to go for any real musician. These guys are all show and nothing else, no professional experience. Go to Guitar Center or a Professional Luthier if you can find one. Just don't go to the Music Den. read more

Staff is friendly. I usually know what I'm looking for - so I can't comment on their helpfulness. This is a solid place for the quick accessory purchase. But I wouldn't shop here for a big purchase...the selection is mediocre. Prices are about what you'd expect. I found a used effects rack unit here. It was overpriced, but maybe that was justified by the convenience. Be prepared for a LOT of Stagg equipment, which basically seems like cheap space filler. Oh, and the new building is really nice...spacious, clean, tons of natural light. read more

This store has helpful employees, average prices and a mediocre selection. I like the fact that they occasionally host concerts. I think live music in an intimate venue that isn't a bar appeals to many people. read more

To Owner Music Den Randolph NJ I wanted to again express my appreciation to all members of your team, they all go out of their way to satisfy me and from what I have observed while in your store, they treat all customers that same way. I am writing today because of an issue I was having with a Boss Micro Recorder. It was a technical issue, so just know that I had tried calling Roland/Boss technical support and spoke to several technicians 3 separate times with no results. This morning I decided to take it to The Music Den and spoke with Jesse Z. Within 30 seconds he diagnosed the problem and presented an easy inexpensive solution. He saved me a great deal of time, expense and anxiety. Jesse really "knows his stuff" as do all the members of your team. The Music Den is the epitome of a great independent music store. Found them through D'Angelico's website in pursuit of a model that none of the major chains or other independents in NJ seemed to stock. Spoke with Sean, who clarified that what I wanted was in-stock and put the guitar aside for me. The experience was truly worth the approximate 50-mile trip for me. Went up to the very comfortable acoustics room with multiple amps to try the guitar out. Sean went over all the features, answered all my questions, and gave me a great price. Better yet, after a thorough evaluation, he gave me a very fair price on an older guitar I traded in. As a Taylor player, I was also very impressed with their selection of high-end acoustics. Not sure if I saw any other dealer with an inventory like that. read more

I purchased a defective instrument at the music den. When I returned the instrument they tried to charge me a restocking fee. No apology was offered to me. The defective instrument was supposed to have been set up by their technician. read more
