My favorite part of the store was in the back where they had high value books for sale. I'm not sure if this shop is connected to the book, or is even as old as the book, but I decided to check it out to see if they happen to sell roleplaying games. Well, sadly, it turns out that they don't. Not because they aren't that type of shop, but rather people people don't come here to buy roleplaying games.

Lots of very good quality chess sets - I have friends who collect unusual chess boards, and came in here looking for a gift for them. It is probably best as a place for gifts, as I'm not sure you'd buy much for yourself, but it's worth looking around just to see the craftmanship that's gone into some of the items. I like the Alice in Wonderland chess set. The games and pieces aren't cheap, but they are good value and much more pleasant to play with than colourful plastic pieces. That said, it's probably more for adult games than for children. They do some great old-fashioned games like bagatelle and shove ha'penny - great for charity events or gifts for grandparents, and cater for the more adventurous with juggling bits, including fire poi. It's also the best place in Oxford to buy a croquet set. It can be difficult to find things, so it's well worth asking if you're not sure. The staff are really helpful.

It stocks a range of games and gaming equipment, from simple children's board games to more esoteric items for role-playing or adult games. It also has a range of books for D&D and RPG. The range of games varies from time to time, so you can't always find something you've seen before, but ordering is usually possible. The shop is spacious and while items are not stacked in the most user-friendly way - a knack for reading sideways comes in handy - it means that a lot can be fitted in without making the shop feel cramped. Highly recommended whether you're a serious gamer or just looking for something to pass the time at a family get-together or children's party.
