I stumbled across this place on a Friday night on what they call Stetsons on the Moon. They open the doors at 8PM and offer free line dancing classes soon there after. They had a $10 cover, but that was ok because the place was jumping. They have a decent sized private parking lot and there a few additional parking spots across the street. They even had a guy out there blocking traffic as people crossed the street. The staff there was generally nice, especially for a bar. The place is huge. They have a snack bar with a decent sized dining area and a lounge like are off of the snack bar that was open air, so there was smoking going on in there. That is where they were hosting karaoke. The main part of the place has a huge dance floor and they had a stage area behind it with a mechanical bull going. There is a full bar on each end of the dance floor and seating with tables on an elevated area in the back. The place had a younger crowd, or maybe I am just getting older. Naw, it is definitely a younger crowd. They had drink specials and some hot country music booming until about 11PM. I do not know where the people learned theses dances from. But they wee all on point and were like they were choreographed. It was like I was in a scene from Footloose. I was impressed. Almost got me to look for line dancing lessons. After about 11, they turned up and starting playing hip-hop and dance music. That is when it got wild and that is when I had to leave. This place has an awesome light show, is very trendy and has a cool vibe. It is very spacious and I would love to have/or go to an event here. I really enjoyed my visit. It is definitely a place worth checking out and keeping tabs on what events they have going on. read more

Great venue, saw a great show, friendly staff and bartenders had a good time. Would def return. My only gripe is those stools without backs on them. Lot's of people were complaining. But those sections were the only options available when I purchased my tickets online. There was no description of exactly what I was purchasing. Had there been a description, I could have made an informed decision. That said... I will only purchase tickets for the dance floor tables area in the future, or pass on the show if none are available. All in all... Still a great venue. read more

A great concert venue in Tallahassee! The Moon has been THE spot in Tallahassee for bands touring through the city for decades and it still holds up! Sure, you may have to get over some beer bottles on the floor and a sticky seat or two, but would you really want, or expect, anything less from a rock concert? The Moon was everything I wanted in a good concert venue! The stage fit the band perfectly, without making them seem packed in, and the main floor left you with enough room that you weren't jammed up against the stage. Plus, if you don't feel like getting down with the crowd, there are a ton of private tables for VIPs. Parking at the venue is tight, so just head across the street and pack in the lot for by Olive Garden and the other shops. But be careful as you head back across the street, as the street there can be pretty busy. Overall, I loved the last show I saw there (Mayday Parade!) and look forward to many more! read more

The problem with The Moon is the garbage beer selection. It's the 21st century. There are several microbreweries in Tally. Why would you NOT want to take my hard earned money? I want to give you my money! I have cash in my wallet, I want to leave a lot of it with you. But...you DON'T want it! How do I know? Because some stubborn person wants to give me these choices: Buttwiper, Buttwiper Light, Miller Light. All garbage. Nobody likes these beers. We drink them when we were young because they were cheap. This is one of the best venues in North Florida hands down. Club LaVela only beats this place during Spring Break. Wednesday is College Night with DJ KWIK! Cover starts at $5, doors open at 10pm. (guys under 21 must have their college ID.) Expect a lot of recently turned 18 year olds and a large population of college students from FAMU. Warning: NO DRESS CODE Friday is Stestons Ladies 21+ are in FREE till Midnight, and for everyone else $5 cover. Look forward to being greeted by a large mechanical bull on stage and country music til about 12:30. Country line dancing throughout that time - if you can;t dance - no biggie - just smile and join in. Girls are drinking free til midnight (sometime til 1am) so throw a few back and fine a cute tall southern boy in a nice pair of jeans and follow his lead. (The tallest sexiest corn feed white boys come out to the Moon on Friday --I swear I didn't know Tally made white boys like this!) But if country music isn't your thing you'll be ok! Sometime near midnight/1am there is a Top 40's booty break and a Mardi Gras bead toss. You gotta see it for yourself. **Parking lot somethings gets real down south country with drunks cussing up a storm and then screaming out "You know I love you - hurry up and cum on" and like a falling star a couple has made up?!? Saturday is Grown Folks Night (21+ ONLY) with DJ Bo Weezy! Ladies in FREE till midnight.(most nights) No Tennis Shoes/Sneakers, No Hats/Skullies, No T-Shirts ---It's a shame you have to tell "grown people" how to dress. The music is mostly southern rap, r&b, and old school throw backs. But the nights have gotten LESS grown with mostly current chart toppers being played all night (0with plenty of twerk music). Every so often you'll get some Spanish/Caribbean music. Drink specials are pretty weak - 2-4-1 on Long Islands til midnight. Listen to 102.3 FM before heading out to know what type of vibe to expect! ***Parking lot can get crowded and out of control at times but there are plenty of police officers making sure everyone is safe. And for the most part you will have an easy going time no matter what night you go. In addition the Moon is always hosting special events for the area like Tallahassee Nights Live and large concerts. Parking can get tight so be sure to try the lot across the street. Online ticket purchasing was convenient before the show, printed and showed ticket at door. Then got a wrist band and was directed to the correct areas. One option only had tall stools and that didn't seem like it would be comfortable for a whole concert so I'm glad they had seats setup in the floor space for this event, this was a much better option. They were selling two types of food options - cheese board snack basket for $10 and dessert basket for $9. A neighbor seemed to enjoyed the dessert basket. The atmosphere is a unique blend of retro and dated, some areas of the venue definitely show their age. Overall the sound quality and performance was very good. read more

The Moon itself is an A-okay venue but what makes it totally awesome is Friday nights Stetsons on the Moon! This is the most awesome line dancing ever! if you are over 21 and get in before midnight, cover is free! the music is great, there is free pizza at 11! If you are new to line dancing, go at 8PM to get some lessons because some of the dances are VERY challenging! read more

Fantastic venue for a concert. There's tons of seating and plenty of room to stand if you desire. Multiple bars means never having to wait in a long line for drinks. Acoustics are amazing. There's plenty of restaurants nearby if you want to grab food before or after a show. read more

This is a good concert venue! There was a lot of room for dancing and plenty of seating. I was here for an Elle King concert in April 2019 and had a good experience. I had a cocktail and a beer that were both pretty reasonably priced. I love that they have a bar on either side of the lower level and at least one more on the upper level--plenty of opportunities to get a drink! At one point, the audio engineer seemed to be having some issues with Elle's in-ears, but it was worked out in a couple of minutes. I'm not sure if that was an issue with the sound system at the venue or not. I will be following this venue to see if any of my other favorites are playing! read more

This has become my new favorite going out spot in Tallahassee, I cannot believe it took me this long to figure it out. I first came on a Friday, forgetting all about stetson's, and still had a blast. I'm not big on the country music but it's easy to pick up on some of the line dances and they always have music breaks in between if you feel like getting down and dirty or whatever. The crowd was interesting, but what really struck me was how large and still relatively clean this place was. The bar was good, not a long wait considering how many people there are at this place and the bartenders are really nice. I appreciate all of the security and likewise, it's nice to know that the bouncers here actually do what they are supposed to be doing. I went back recently for a concert and it was awesome, not just because I was a fan of the band, but really because everyone and the Moon completely changed and it fit so well. This is a versatile space and they really take advantage of that. I will be coming back again and again on different nights to see what the music scene is like. read more

July 7, 2018: The Moon held a benefit concert for the Bradfordville Blues Club which was demolished by a large oak tree that fell on it. Tickets were $10 for general admission which is what I purchased. I haven't been to the Moon since the early 1990's. I actually attended a Foghat concert at the Moon once in the late 1980's LOL. It has not changed at all. The layout continues to be state of the art with full liquor bars scattered throughout, a large main stage that is 100% viewable from any seat, multi-level mezzanine's, reserved individual seating and/or reserved tables too, and limited parking. You can find parking on the other side of Lafayette street behind the strip mall there. Even though the venue itself hasn't changed, it really doesn't need to. To me the Moon has endured throughout the years and stands out as an class-act in the intermediate sized theatre venue category. I have always arrived as I left, pleased to be entertained and relatively comfortable while doing it. The carpet should be replaced as it was very sticky around the upstairs bar causing many flip-flops to be ripped from the feet of unsuspecting concert goers LOL. read more

Such a cool venue. Small enough for an intimate experience with artists and their performance, yet large enough to escape the crowd into raised seating. Two bar areas on either side of the venue make it easier to access drinks. Bathrooms are clean and easy to access even when the crowd is packed. read more

Being that I'm from the tristate I'm used to the best of the best clubbing(ie. New York City) so I will try not to be biased. With that being said, I was here on a Saturday night and at 12:30 it was moderately empty. The drinks were 2 for 1($7) and the staff was nice. There was a sign that said no re-entry although I got a wristband. The DJ tonight was ok, it began with old school then slowly got into more recent hip hop. The place is huge and that is perhaps why it felt so empty. Parking was $10 to Park right in front otherwise you could sacrifice and park across the street. For my first time I'll give this place a 3 and come back to see if anything changes. By the way Saturday is grown up night but I'm gonna call it grown and sexy because I was there. read more

Staff is cool, venue is nice. Just the owner is an *sshole. Went to a show where the place was littered with signs asking not to smoke tobacco, everyone did as told by the signs except the owner, was smoking his cigar and blowing it in peoples faces just to be a stubborn old man. I would not recommend this place to anyone based on principle that the customers are keeping you in business so you should respect them and your artist for that matter. read more

It's an intimate venue but do not buy VIP seats as they are a rip off! You get a chair in the back of the club! Wouldn't you rather stand up next to the stage? And VIP tickets cost twice as much for a view you can't make out without binoculars!.also, this venue has no food. :-( read more
