The perfect lunch time meal. The food is hot and portions generous. Unlike some places The Five Bells serve cod - not halibut nor haddock. The fish is fresh and is paired with plenty of chips. Not something that can be felt by load of marketing people or branding junkies. The food is very nicely done ny a person that evidently knows how to cook. It is not fusion craziness and trendy, just good proper and smart food. The staff working here are people that know more about the restaurant trade and are not the untrained students that would get a chain. The decor fits in with the beautiful Tiny Village that Burpham is. If you'd like to see real English countryside at its best in a proper village, this is the place to go. Just driving to the restaurant along the small road to the village will give you a great feel and the restaurant lives up to it. As somebody who comes to the area or not, I like to come here and it remains what I have always liked about it. While the food is quite upscale, as are the people, but the prices remain good for what it is. One of my favourite places in the area.
