Made the drive cute little Almonte to have a date night at Heirloom Cafe and Bistro to discover the place is no longer...However, a friendly stranger shared the fact that their chef is now at The Monte.
We strolled over to The Monte which is actually a waterfront inn, lounge, and retreat. So grateful we went as the lounge has patio seating in front of the Mississippi River.
The drinks were lovely and delicious but nothing compared to the food.
We had the Arancini, Salad, and Seared Yellowfin Tuna. The Arancini is a popular dish from Heirloom Cafe and Bistro that the waitress said was a hit so we tried it. It is deep fried tennis ball sized balls that were mouthwatering good. We devoured them before getting a photo.
The salad was super yummy and the pickled beet slices were everything I didn't know I needed. Main course was Ahi tuna and the flavours were delicious...the red curry with the mango apricot chutney and was incredible.
If you're looking for a quaint little spot for a getaway, I definitely recommend The Monte and will absolutely be back to dine (and hopefully sleep). read more
