Yelled "why are you whispering" when I ordered despite me screaming over the band, and then left out a portion of my order after we had back and forth talked about what exactly I wanted (it was literally just a koozie that she decided the price on on the spot). After the interaction, two other customers that saw it mentioned their bad experiences with her that night. Then she proceeds to give a koozie for free to a guy. Also will straight up ignore you and not serve you if she decides she doesn't like you. Get a real job if you don't want to bartend as a manager at YOUR understaffed bar. read more

I try to visit the Milk Parlor whenever I happen to be in Blacksburg. It's a wonderful place to eat a sandwich and have a drink. They rotate the beers on tap, so it's usually something new when I can get there. Service is good, but I try to avoid when it's super busy. I enjoy trying the different White Russians they have, and The Paralyzer is my favorite. My favorite bar in the 'Burg by far. read more

This was my first time at The Milk Parlor and it did not disappoint! We came to scope out their hard milkshakes which have received rave reviews. We wanted to order a variety of milkshakes but today they were only offering the Fat Banana flavor. I'm a fan of The Milk Parlor. In terms of food and drinks, they're known for having an array of "gourmet grilled cheeses" and somewhat obscure drinks and shooters (i.e. White Russians, Picklebacks (pickle juice + whiskey), etc.). I tried the Fungus Among Us -- it was a little greasy, but that's to be expected with grilled cheese; overall, a tasty sandwich. I think where it really shines is the ambiance (note: I haven't been since February 2020, pre-COVID). The Milk Parlor has a really great casual, underground (literally) atmosphere, and they host lots of events during different nights of the week. They continued the tradition of Salsa Nights on Wednesdays that Sycamore Deli had, there are Comedy Nights every other week, and the occasional open mic. The events I've gone to have been really fun, and a cool way to meet and support others in the community. Would recommend if you want a chill environment, reasonably priced food/drinks, and good customer service. read more

First time coming here. It has a very dive bar vibe. They really need more than two people behind the bar. I sat at the bar for 30 minutes and never got served. It's not like they were super busy or anything, the place was half empty and there were about a dozen kids, so the bar wasn't swamped or anything. My friends at the other end of the bar (because there weren't 3 seats together at the time we arrived) got sandwiches and milkshakes - after being there for 35 minutes. Both were only ok. I had been really excited about trying one of their signature White Russians. But I didn't want to make my friends wait, so, I guess it wasn't meant to be. My friend recommended this place to me and the food didn't disappoint! The sandwiches were really good and didn't take too long to come to the table. The waiter was really nice and I loved hearing band music while we ate here. I hear they have live bands at night so make sure to come then! Drinks we really good and the bartenders were nice. The food took awhile to come out even though we were the only ones there but I think it's because they only had one cook. Overall we were happy with our food. It was good Mac and cheese. I got the spicy redneck and it didn't have any sauce. I wish the pork had some barbecue sauce on it. When we asked for ketchup, they didn't have any. Definitely more of a casual bar food vibe. Wouldn't say it was excellent. read more

I love this place! I have to visit anytime I'm lucky enough to be in Blacksburg for a bit. the atmosphere, the friendliness of the bartenders, and the drinks keep me coming back for more. The grilled cheese is a tasty treat to go along with your drink of choice. They always have an interesting selection of beers on tap, including some that are not common to the area. My favorite is the Paralyzer, a type of White Russian. Even though I'm not a regular, due to distance, I always feel welcome when I go to the Milk Parlor, and one can't ask for anything more than that! read more

I have never been to The Milk Parlor, but it's COVID-19 season and sometimes you need a break from the last boxed mac n cheese you found on the shelves at gucci Kroger. We ordered on ubereats and it came on time as planned. The food is delicious, the fries crisp and well-seasoned. Everything is fantastic, but the real reason I'm writing this review is because they sent us a roll of TOILET PAPER for free with our order. The Milk Parlor cares so much about its customers that they are also delivering a coveted and essential good with their orders. 10/10, am very impressed. Been coming here to see music for a while before covid. Always dug the vibe and the staff were fun and friendly. I decided to try their food for lunch today and I was really pleasantly surprised. Their gluten free bread is very edible and the toppings are tasty and creative. Great spot. read more

I called and was told that people between the ages of 18-21 could come before 10pm because we had one friend who was 20. When we got there the man at the door immediately shut us down saying that there were 50 people under 21 and that meant we could not get in. We asked if we could wait or doing anything and then he kept giving us a fake apology and telling us we had to leave right away. He then looked extremely heated and continued to give a fake apology and telling to leave. I would have a lot more respect if he would have told us no instead of being fake and unwilling to talk to us. Just be prepared to be greeted by a rude person (who was supposedly the manager) and possibly sent away. Sadly we didn't get to support our friends in their band. read more

I enjoyed the bar and night I spent at the milk parlor. However, I was shocked with how unprofessional the staff was and the rude greeting I received at the door. The bouncers exhibited unprofessional and abusive behavior towards paying customers. I should not be sworn at and intimidated by a bouncer when I was nothing but polite. read more
