I have lived here for three months and I really love the Meyden! Especially their whole team(service team, leasing team, Manager MT, and New resident manager. ) Manager MT and anyone who working in the front door leasing office are super friendly and helpful. They are always ready to help you and solve your problem. I can feel they really care about your problems and want to make your stay comfortable and happy. I had a package showed delivered but actually the mail man did not delivered to my door or in the locker. Manager MT helped me, we looked every possible corner. Although we failed to find it, he suggests me to send him the proof of delivery and he will help me asking the mailman where the package is. I really appreciate his help for me, which makes me feel much better from the frustrations of finding a missing mail. Besides, their building is concrete so that it is always quiet. They have air conditioning and they have great places for BBQ, game, party. And they have a gym. I like their decorations in the lobby and hallways. They have a lot of lightning in the room so you may not need to buy several floor lamps. I love their kitchen island, which save me buying a dining table. There are 7-11 and CVS next to the Meyden; and a 5 mins walk to Safeway. So it is convenient! Also, the downtown park are great for walker, jogger, dogs; the beach park has a stunning view all season, and super fun water sport time in the summer. The Bellevue square could be a great shopping place. And the Bellevue art museum is about 10 mins walking. I love living here and I recommend to live at the Meyden. read more

We won the trial but unfortunately we didn't get our money back, only part of security deposit. Scheduling the trial took 1.5 years. During that time the charge was sent to the collection agency and they started spoiling our credit score. We decided to pay it off to save the credit rating. Judge said that you couldn't return your money back from the collection agency in this case. If you don't need these kinds of problems do not move in to this place. read more

Love living here! Super dog friendly, all the office staff and maintenance workers love our Koda. Great location, allows for me to take Koda on runs every morning to either downtown park or the beach. I often joke that we have a storage unit downstairs, aka the CVS. The Meyden is a great complex. It was a very mature community and respectful. I never had noise complaints of my neighbors except for a few dogs. The upkeep was very consistent and top notch. It always felt clean and well maintained. All the staff were super friendly and helpful down to the cleaning and maintenance crews . The front office was a welcoming group and it was easy to address any issue big or small. They were diligent and timely. I liked the mail and package system. I always felt safe and felt everything was secure. There was great access to wonderful nearby parks and the Meyden is located in a very walkable area. Most of what you need is in walking distance or very short drive. I moved to live in a different part of Seattle but miss the Meyden. read more

I moved to the Meyden Apartments a month ago and my experience so far has been phenomenal! I want to give the credit to Bree Cardenas who has been extremely supportive and helpful right from the very beginning - giving me a virtual tour, helping me sign the lease, assisting me with all the random questions and with move-in and even now she goes above and beyond to help the residents. Kudos to the maintenance team too who are very quick in responding. The apartment is top-notch with appliances in perfect condition. I am lucky to a fantastic view and privacy too! We have lived here for 3 years so far and have loved every minute! The building is beautiful and well kept and the staff are always so friendly and accommodating. From the front office to the maintenance team I know our needs will be met quickly and with a smile. I love the efforts that are made to make our apartment living feel like a community with the many resident events. Even with the Covid restrictions we have had fun virtual events that allow us to interact with our neighbors, which we greatly appreciate. It is city-living with a sense of community. Finally, an update. The issue at hand was escalated to upper management. Not sure what it looked like on their end, but they revoked the fees from the collection agency and soon thereafter I was notified that they were reviewing my remaining balance again. It took about a week or two for them to get back to me. I followed-up with them once via email (property manager left me a v/m to let me know that charges were pending), to ask about the status and reminded them of the wooden floor invoice. They kindly responded that they were still reviewing the charges. I got a voicemail from the property manager late last week, and she informed me that my new balance went down to $409.59. I was apparently waived some of the floor repairs and cleaning fee. The new balance included partial floor repair costs and utilities. In my account prior to this chaos, I had $117 credit (over-payed for something the month before) and $600 security deposit. That means I was charged $1,126.59 total for partial floor repairs and utilities (you get separate utility bills separate from electricity, which includes water, sewer, garbage and admin fees). To date, I have not seen the invoice for the floor work yet. Following the escalation, I think property management was pretty prompt- which I greatly appreciated because it stressed me out everyday that there was a balance at collections. They were also kind. It's just a bummer that I never got to see the invoice. The cost of the repair will still remain a mystery. Because of this, I don't know which charges I'm arguing against. Anyways, I've decided to put this to rest because it's been tiring. read more

I was a tenant at The Meyden earlier this year. Due to the purchase of a home, I had break the lease. They gave me an option to just pay 2 months or continue paying rent until they re-rented the unit. After discussing with the leasing agents, I was confident the would re-lease the unit in less than 2 months so went with the second option. I take full responsibility for making this decision which was a huge mistake. After 3 months of paying rent, I started to do some digging and found out that my unit was being marketed 12% over what I was paying, and it was one of the most expensive one bedroom units in Bellevue. I also found out that The Meyden had staged the unit as the model. When I was carrying the financial burden for the unit, The Meyden was trying to rent it at a premium. Upon notifying management at the Meyden of this, I was treated very rudely and was initially informed that I could pay 2 additional months in order to walk away from the lease. This would have meant that I would have paid a total of 5 months to break a lease. After agreeing upon a number to break the lease (and the unit becoming The Meyden's financial responsibility), they dropped the price of the unit 4 times within a month. It will rent below what we were paying for it. They insist on there being some algorithm to figure out the rent price, but that is hard to believe since the unit sat at a premium for 3 months and only dropped once they had to carry the financial burden for it. Additionally, they "accidentally" sent to collections me plus a few other tenants who had moved out. I had paid my rent on time every month, including when I was no longer living there. The only thing they ever apologized for with that situation was for the glitch in their system that caused it. Their leasing agents are great but cannot do anything about managing the breaking of a lease. It was the property manager who is disrespectful, inflexible and difficult to work with. The only reason why any solutions were reached for the rent or the collections issue is because I had to hound management. I am not a disgruntled former resident with a vendetta. These are all facts and I think worth sharing so the same thing doesn't happen to somebody else. I have given The Meyden & Pillar Properties many opportunities to correct this situation but they say there is nothing they can do. I am not trying to get out of this for free, just fair. My advice would be think twice about leasing here, especially if you might need to amend your living situation before your lease is up. read more

I haven't moved in yet so I will update after I have lived here a bit, but the leasing process was wonderfully smooth. I emailed for an appointment on a Saturday and got one within 45 mins, which surprised me since Saturday is a big looking at apartments day. Getting in was a little odd, you can't walk into the lobby or leasing office without a key or being buzzed in. This is great for residents but was a little weird for a prospective resident. Cherisse was great, she talked to me about space and price and took me to see two apartments. I fell in love with the HUGE terrace off of one of them, even though the apartment itself is smaller than what I was looking for. I told her I wanted to sleep on it and she was very gracious and didn't push like some leasing agents I've worked with before. Needless to say I was still sure the next morning and I emailed Cherisse right away. I went back down to pay my deposit and get some measurements. Again she answered every question I had and took time helping me get measurements. I think our email chain is now up to 26 messages as I keep asking questions and she keeps getting me the answers! Everything can be done online, which is what I would expect but it's nice to see. These apartments hit every single one of my 'must haves' except for 'more square footage' and a whole lot of my 'would be nice's' for a new apartment. The security is excellent, I met two maintenance people who were super friendly when I went back for better measurements (my fault, I took poor notes) this past weekend. In case anyone is wondering, my 'must haves' were: No carpet except in bedrooms, outside space, 'good' internet (Wave G), AC, near the Bellevue Park and more square feet. The 'nice to have's' that they hit were: individually metered utilities, full size washer and dryer, ice maker, freezer on the bottom of the refrigerator, kitchen storage space, and decent lighting. They also have light fixtures in the bedroom which was also new to me. So far I am super excited about this new apartment! read more

Think carefully before you move in to this place, as your move-out inspection charges can give you a big surprise after you move out. You should consider it as a big risk and include it as part of your effective monthly rent. I've lived in the unit for about 6.5 years without any major repair or maintenance, and the move-out inspection repair cost came out to be over $8,000, charging everything from carpet, full paint, window blinds, entire countertop replacement (for water stains and chips), etc. Once you move out, they don't respond and most likely will just send the charges for collection. Again, after 6.5 years of living in the same unit without any major repairs and maintenance and many of them that would be considered normal wear-and-tear in other property managements. They even charged for water damage in the cabinets, which was due to a pipe leakage that the maintenance personnel came to fix but didn't fully address except for the leaking issue. I am currently working with a lawyer to file a claim, which is my very first time after renting apartment in the last 20 years. read more

I've been living at The Meyden since 06/07/2017 I had to relocate immediately for work and originally contacted The Meyden on 06/01/2017 and after explaining the urgency I was called immediately by Cherisse who would then follow-through with me via email and phone per my request. I did have Cherisse send me additional pictures which she took on the spot for me! Also, they even accommodated my awkward friend who decided he'd just show up to The Meyden after I told him I might be moving there without telling me. Cherisse took him on a mock walk-through while he set up a video chat with me. It was completely unexpected and I'm amazed they were kind enough to oblige him. Due to the extreme abruptness I expected some hang ups but the entire staff at The Meyden made everything exceptionally efficient. Unfortunately my expedited flight in came on a day Cherisse would be OOO, so I first met with Sanya who took me on a tour of the complex as well as the first inspection of my apartment. Everything was more than adequate, clean, and ready to move. Sanya then walked me back to the lobby to go over my lease and Michael provided some additional insight as well. Everything was transparent, accurate, and concise. I signed and was given my key and recommendations in regards to food, shopping, leisure activities, and more within the area. After moving in I received emails with details to create and access online accounts for payment as well as the community. Signup was easy and it's been an invaluable resource as well as being up to date with who, what, where, and why. I've been greeted warmly departing, arriving, getting the mail, etc. without any nuisance. Just genuine warmth and concern for my day to day or any assistance I may need. The amenities are nice and the gym has a Squat Rack which is pretty important for me. I'm surprised to see one in an apartment complex and exclaimed to Cherisse how happy it makes me to which she shared the same excitement. I haven't used the Terrace(s) much because I've admittedly been busy with work, but I did watch the NBA Finals and some movies in the theatre room which was excellent. There's also an Arcade room with a plethora of games, pool table, and a poker table that some tenants play card games at. Other than that it's in a prime location that is safe, quiet, and close to everything you could probably need. I can't find anything negative to say about the venue or my experiences with the staff thus far. I want to re-iterate how truly special the staff at The Meyden has been. Cherisse, Sanya, Michael, Janeé in the leasing offices and Milton, Roger, Joel who you'll generally see around the complex handling maintenance. This was the main reason I chose The Meyden over other prospects. I had very specific requirements and while all were met, truthfully some properties offering more amenities/luxuries/cheaper rent, I chose The Meyden due to their consistent line of communication and attention to detail in providing the best for me. It's easy in Bellevue to find such baroque venues, but it's not easy to find something with as much balance in passion and service with those ideals which was what ultimately solidified my decision to choose The Meyden. read more

Saturday spent touring apartment homes in Bellevue! Stumbled across new construction at the Meyden and was not disappointed! During the tour the quality of construction was event in the building's ability to drown out any construction noise! A major plus in any apartment home! Floor plans were thoughtful and finishes were on point for new construction! Security was start of the art and two parking options! I am finding that my experience with The Meyden is pretty similar to what everyone is saying. Living here is fine - it's in a safe area and centrally located. I moved here because I work in downtown Bellevue and thought I could save money by walking to work. Living here ended up being more expensive than I expected, so I moved north. Additionally, the back elevators would go out every once in while and there were fire alarms every few months. All of that being said, I probably would have given this place a decent review, but the move-out experience is a nightmare and according to other reviews on here, my experience is not an isolated event. I just moved out this past week and I received an email from management stating that they were going to have to replace the carpet in the bedroom (approximately $500-$600), which seems expensive for how small the room is, but I said that was fine since my pet had a couple accidents and I can understand the need to replace it. Then the email stated that I would have to pay for them to replace all of the hardwood due to "water damage" ($3,000.00). They attached photos, which showed no damage and when I asked management about this, they stated pictures wouldn't show any damage but I should come by to see it in person. I sent my own pictures, which showed no damage. I also sent them a video, which I will try to upload. But then management insisted that I call their maintenance manager so he could explain why they would charge me this much. I stated that even if there was water damage in some places (although no photos or videos show this), I didn't understand why ALL of the flooring needed to be replaced. Management then told me that the floors were brand new when I moved in, so they needed to make them that way for the next tenant. (Having rented in the Seattle area since moving here for college a decade ago, it is my understanding that "No portion of any deposit shall be withheld on account of wear resulting from ordinary use of the premises."RCW 59.18.280(a), so it never even crossed my mind that I would be financially responsible for ensuring the next tenant gets brand new floors.) I haven't received a final invoice yet, so I will update this review once I've seen it. I am not just a disgruntled former tenant - I have all of the emails, video, photos, etc., to show these interactions took place. For anybody deciding to move into this place: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING at move in and move out. Take videos, pictures, etc., because they might try to do this to you. (One of the attached photos is from the day I moved in, another is from the day before I moved out and the third is from the picture management sent me to show the alleged damage to the flooring. As you can see, the floors haven't changed much.) Update: I received an e-mail from the maintenance manager and he stated that there are two areas of damage caused by my pet, but because the replacement flooring doesn't match the original flooring, They have to replace the whole floor and I'm responsible for the whole floor replacement. read more

I've lived at The Meyden for almost three years and the experience I had this morning was unbelievable, in the best way possible! The maintenance team (Sergio, Chris, and Javier) are INCREDIBLE. I did something very embarrassing... while cleaning over the weekend, I accidently threw away a pair of very special earrings... down the trash chute and into the compactor. Sergio spent his morning going through the trash bin and helping me locate my trash bag, he was incredibly patient with me... and, what appeared to be a mission impossible, because we were looking for a needle in a haystack, turned into us locating my trash bag from the night before and me finding my earrings. I am so grateful for Sergio's dedication and for being positive about going through the trash one more time, when I was on the verge of giving up. Thanks to him (Chris and Javier who joined us half-away through), I found my pair of earrings! Best maintenance crew ever! read more

Located in Downtown Bellevue, The Meyden is within walking distance to a number of restaurants, offices, and the beautiful downtown park. The apartment interiors are beautiful, with high ceilings that create commodious units. For the price you may be able to find other places in the area that can provide similar amenities, but you would be hard pressed to find more excellent staff. I just moved in three and a half weeks ago. I was a little worried about moving during this tumultuous time, but shout-out to Bree who has proven to be an exemplary Residential Manager. On the day of the move-in I was running hours late, but Bree checked in and took the initiative to secure me the moving elevator right before I got there when someone else cancelled. She also offered dollies and parking assistance when I came in with the UHaul, which was something I was nervous about. Upon moving in, she has been readily available to answer any questions I may have about the building, and has unobtrusively checked in to make sure I knew about various amenities offered (such as the bike storage and mailing system). She is a shining example of how excellent staff can make moving in as painless as possible. If her colleagues are modeled after her, then The Meyden can boast an excellent staff modeling amicability and professionalism. It's also worth mentioning the steps that I've seen being taken for residents during this pandemic. Everyone is required to wear a mask in common areas, the common areas themselves (like stairwells and the lobby) are deeply cleaned frequently, hand sanitizer dispensers are dispersed throughout the building, and packages are either placed in a no-contact Amazon Hub locker under the building or delivered straight to your door. read more

I am one of the first tenants to live here and have nothing but great things to say about the building, amenities and staff. The front office is always welcoming, kind and always looking to help if I need anything. The maintenance staff is great as well with fixing any issues I a may have within the day it is issued. If I were you, I would go out and seek out for the other apartments where they use WA state utility department. Nice Staff, and newly built, but this apartment adopted 3rd party utility company " YES Energy Management" and they are quite notorious for overcharging people. Look it up and there are so many complaint against this unethical billing company at BBB . The fact that is they will charge you $50 for sewer/drainage regardless of how much water you use and no matter how much water you save monthly, your water bill as high as $100. They charge you 4 gallons of water for filling up one little tiny mug cup and 14 gallons for the each time you flushing the toilet. No, there is no water leak or anything. the utility company charges you based off nothing and their paper bill is worthless as it doesn't tell you much, or consistent. The paper bills says your water consumption went down, but you will see your next bill somehow elusively go up for no good reason. In other words, your water bill does not look like it is based off your actual water usage. read more

The Meyden has the best management group and maintenance team I have ever lived/worked with. Just a few days ago, the apartment above me flooded (due to a negligent tenant, not the building) and water came down through my light fixture into my bathroom. The flooding caused water damage on the ceiling and needed to be fixed. The maintenance team (Joel and Greg) responded to my call at 7:00 am and were at my apartment by 9:00 am on Memorial Day assessing the issue. By the next day, they had already brought in an work crew to determine next steps. Throughout this process, Joel and his team were extremely professional and courteous of my personal space, and overall very accommodating to me. I have two large dogs and one is aggressive with strangers. I need to go to work but I can't leave them in the apartment and have people walking in when I am not there. I can't take my other dog to a kennel because he has kidney disease and can no longer be vaccinated. My life is kind of a hot mess and I'm dependent on my apartment being a safe-haven for them. Management teams in the previous places I've lived just tell you "too bad" we need to get in there to work on the damage but the team here is super flexible (within reason, you need to meet them halfway which is more than fair). The communication is consistently solid. They called me to check on times when they could come in and followed through on next steps. I am so impressed. This type of professional communication is normally lacking or nonexistent in other places but The Meyden is nailing it. This really helped to stave off the stress that comes with living alone with large, moody dogs. In addition to this, the new property manager, April, is phenomenal. I think she's been with The Meyden for a month now and her interactions and communication style reflect a manager that has been running this place for years. Though the flooding wasn't my fault, I am still responsible for my dogs, not The Meyden. I asked if she had another place I could keep my dogs while I am at work, since the repairs were most likely going to take another week. I honestly didn't think they would help me since it's not their responsibility and my contract specifically states they they are allowed to enter my apartment in emergency situations, but I asked anyway. April saw that I was feeling very stressed about this. Instead of saying "no, we can't do that", she checked with her boss and got sign-off to set me up in an empty unit so I could leave my dogs there while I go to work. She even called me that same day from her cell phone while she was working at the other apartment she manages to let me know. She didn't have to do any of this! She was going above and beyond the base expectations of her job and I couldn't be more grateful. So here's the takeaway - Most places treat your apartment likes it's a office space/business, where they can walk in and out and change things regardless of whether you like it or not - you are expendable to them. The Meyden treats your apartment like it's YOUR HOME. Though they are still a business, they show great respect for your personal space and they covet responsible and respectful long-term renters. I chose to pay over $6000 to get out of my lease early so that I no longer had to live at The Meyden. Let me explain in more detail. For personal reasons, I needed more living space as I had a 1 bedroom, which is very small at The Meyden. I had a choice to make. I could upgrade to a two bedroom and pay very few fees and stick with the remainder of my lease which was 7 months OR I could pay thousands in fees and concessions to break the lease and move elsewhere. I chose the latter and don't regret it for a second. Members of their management team were very rude (albeit not all of them were) and at times seemed to be scatter-brained. We reserved the media room and other another room for my daughter's 13th birthday party, but management didn't bother to place any reserved signs up as they were supposed to, so we kept getting interrupted during the party. I ordered a new laptop that I needed for work and had it delivered next day air. I went to pick it up after work, but the Meyden employees stated that it did not arrive. I asked him to check again, but to no avail. He asked his colleague and his response was very smug. They both made me feel like I was misinformed and none of the days' boxes could have been a laptop. They blamed it on USPS. I needed it that day for work, hence the next-day air shipping method. At this point, I was frustrated but always remained respectful. For brevity, what ended up happening was that I spent the next week on the phone with the Site's customer care, USPS fraud dep't, and the Bellevue police dep't where I had to file a police report (being a $1500 laptop and all). After spending 10+ hours on this, I went the next step and asked management to pull up the video from that day. They pulled the video and stated that it was too hard to tell what the packages were. Then moments later an email came in stating that THE ENTIRE TIME, it was in their mail room (SMH). They just wrote down the apartment number incorrectly. Unbelievable! This mail room is tiny. The lack of effort and incompetence of the staff at The Meyden amazes me. I know mistakes happen, but the fact they put in so little effort to help me is frustrating. I think what bothers me more than the time spent and all of the hassle was how smug they were when I first went down to ask them about my package. Anyways, there's a bunch of other small stuff, but I think you get the gist of my experience. I'm just happy that it's behind me now. Oh, forgot to mention that on my last bill they tried charging me for the non-refundable deposit after I had already paid it upon moving in. They stated it was a mistake, of course. What a lovely place to live in ! Signing in with the lease, you will get that disturbing fire alarm as a house warming gift. Mind you they will kick it off those so called happy hours sometime around 3:00 in the morning. I've lived here for 6 months now and I couldn't be happier with my choice of apartments. This brand new apartment complex (~1yr old as of this review) hasn't had any of the usual "new complex" growing pains - everything was fresh, ready to go, working well, and exactly what I wanted out of the gate. The community/amenities/etc: Pros - Incredible staff. These folks are always more than helpful with any questions or concerns and are very genuine people. Sure, the complex is owned by a larger corporate company, but the local staff brings a very personal feel to it. Corporate representatives also occasionally come to social events so that's cool. I've stayed in a bunch of "large company owned" apartments, and the Meyden's staff is hands down the best I've ever worked with. - Lease signing and moving in was a breeze. Staff was always there to answer questions, and everything (including actual lease signing and rent payment) can be done entirely online, which is convenient. - Social events are hosted multiple time a year by the Meyden team where you get to socialize with other apartment tenants over free food and drinks. They're always a good time. - Security is great - lots of multi-lock steps (lock on the main door, one on elevator, etc), gated garage (with assigned spots), etc - They handle package delivery so you don't have to worry about being at home to receive them. - It's in a prime location within walking distance of all the downtown Bellevue restaurants and smack in the middle of Old Bellevue. - The gym is open 24 hours a day. Could be better - There's a ~$50 "base sewage fee" that gets tacked onto every water bill by the water company, so that's unfortunate. But, this looks like it's standard at every complex served by the water company and I definitely don't hold it against the Meyden. The room itself: Pros - Phenomenal internet (symmetric gigabit with WaveG who has excellent customer service and is cheap at $80/mo no contracts) - Hardwood laminate in the living area - Carpeted bedroom - In-unit washer/dryer - Nice floor plan (open/spacious rather than awkward rectangles) - High quality appliances (stainless steel) - A/C (not that you'd need it in Bellevue very often) Could be better - Electric stove (would much prefer gas, but I think apartments with electric in WA is the standard - this is just a personal preference anyway) - Freezer space is a bit tight, but the fridge space is huge. It's probably only tight because I shop at Costco... - ... that's it. All nitpicks and nowhere near dealbreakers. Overall, while the cost of renting may be a bit pricy, it's entirely reflected in the quality of customer satisfaction, rooms, and location and definitely worth. read more

After a year at Meyden, I can reaffirm that if you are looking for a great apartment complex with a fantastic management and maintenance team, excellent amenities, and a great location - you will be very happy with your choice to call the Meyden your home. read more

I had a uniquely horrible experience at "The Meyden". The apartments are nice (though overpriced) but the management may be worse than any management in the city of Bellevue. I initially applied to rent an apartment and duly paid my application fee. Management seemed to indicate that everything was fine but rejected me due to their CLAIM that I had a "civil review" on my credit. I have good credit and contacted credit agencies in an attempt to find the so-called "civil review" and none could produce any trace of it. THEN, in a cruel twist, management contacted me and explicitly told me that I had everything I needed to move in so long as I brought in my social security card and chose a new apartment. I returned with my social security card, chose a new apartment (for 300$ more) and sat down to sign the lease. At the last second, they claimed they were having problems with their system and that they couldn't let me rent the new apartment without reapplying. They told me that I was still accepted, they just had to work out the glitch in their computer system which they had put in a tech support ticket for. The next day, they called me to reject me AGAIN for the same non-existent civil review they were stuck on initially. Why tell me I had everything I needed to move in and make me take the day off from work to go visit and choose a new apartment? What a joke these people are. Uniquely terrible management. read more
