This is a modern hotel near Frodsham Golf Course. Definatly not the country house experience so…read moremany Best Western hotels are. This is ideal for conferencies and the business traveller looking for an anonimous hotel with a pool and gym; not that we ever use the gym but it makes us feel better having the option. My room was an upgrade from standard and was very nice with a jaccuzzi bath, I'm guessing the standard rooms are decorated the same with a normal bath. Most importantly the bed was comfortable. I had dinner in the leisure bar, starting with Veg. soup which was bland and the bread roll was served with half-fat spread NOT butter! The steak Baget came toasted but it was hard and biting in to it stabbed my gums, once again a bit on the bland side. I'm afaid Cafe Rough do it so much better. Breakfast was fairly standard and quite acceptable. During my stay the WiFi was playing up but they did say the high winds effect it. X = You've gotta be kidding me XX = trying but not reaching the standard expected or advertised XXX = achieving the standards expected/advertised however high that might be XXXX = they're doing something special here, above expected standards of service XXXXX = WOW! you gotta go here!

Not as good a pub as it used to be. Poor selection of ales (choice of John Smiths or Tetley…read morebitter), but to be fair what they do sell is a decent enough pint. Beer is expensive for what you're getting. Starting to look a little rough round the edges as well. They do food here, although I haven't sampled it. Main reason I go to this pub, is that it's a reasonable central walking point for a few friends - so purely for location. I wouldn't bother with it if it wasn't for that, as it really doesn't have anything outstanding to offer. Update (2009-11-25): They did cask ales for a short period of time, and they were awful. They've stopped again now. This has the look of a pub that is in trouble just now! I'd really like to give it a better review, but that would be unfair to anyone reading.
