Their Valentine's Day special.
Marilu F.

At least three of my friends have gone to The Melting Pot in recent times. Each time I read or hear about their experience, well, it's always fabulous and it makes me question why it's taken me years to return to this chain. Then I go back and remember, but I'll get to that eventually. It was Valentine's Day week and I knew I would be up in Tallahassee. I tried to coordinate a mini reunion and failed, so it just wound up being us two. I made the reservation a week or so in advance, even changing the reservation from one night to another no problem. When we went on a Sunday night, it was pretty busy. A lot of people were there to celebrate Valentine's Day, even though it had landed earlier that week. I mean, I can't blame them - we went and did the same. The fact that they kept advertising their packages only aided matters, although we are simple folk and just went for the food and company. We opted for the four-course meal, consisting of cheese fondue, salad, our entrees, and chocolate fondue. For the cheese fondue, I believe it was the Swiss alpine we chose, but I don't exactly remember. They brought us dippers and lots of bread and vegetables. Well, and apples. My companion found the apples weird, but apples and cheese made me grin. The ratio of fruits and vegetables to bread was in favor of the bread. More bread than anything else honestly. I had to quit eating this to have room for everything else because I knew lots more would come. Lots more came indeed in the form of salad, which surprisingly is the one thing you can order different from your companion as you're not sharing a pot. He had a Caesar salad I think minus some bacon bits, while I went for the California salad which had a sweet raspberry vinaigrette. From there, we chose a package for our entrees. I believe it was called Big Night Out and it brought chicken, filet mignon, teriyaki steak, shrimp, salmon, and mushroom ravioli. We then debated our cooking style for the pot. I immediately vetoed coq au vin as despite being a Francophile, I'm not a fan of this flavor. Last time I had it, well, I would have rather drunk the wine than eaten it. He bargained that I'd get to choose the chocolate fondue, so I agreed to bourguignon. I hesitate in saying he made a good choice because I may never hear the end of it if it gets back to him. That said, because my companion is a notorious seafood hater, I had to cook my shrimp last. I didn't bother with the salmon as I wanted room for dessert. That and I partook in practically everything else sans the mushroom ravioli. I left that for him. Finally we get to dessert and I chose the S'mores one. They set it aflame right in front of us and it was beautiful. Then, the platter with strawberries, bananas, Rice Krispies, and the like - wow! Except me having a craving I added macarons and I inhaled those, along with the strawberries. I wanted to have a marshmallow, but alas - it simply was too much, which is pretty much why I take breaks years in between these experiences. I love this chain to bits, but it's too much food for little ol' me and expensive for what it is to boot. My companion and I could've done this at home, but well, he indulged me and took me to The Melting Pot because sometimes you have to take one for the team. Anyhow, I'm glad he did because it made for a lovely evening.

My husband and I went for my birthday this year! The online reservation process was very simple! The environment is dim, perfect for a romantic date. Our waitress, Kate was so sweet! She was happy to take our pictures upon request. The food was delicious! There's so many options! The menu is very organized, it was easy to order. It's self serve/ cook. Kate gave as the suggested duration for cooking. Then there's desert.. 4-5 course meal had our bellies happy and full. The only downfall about this is that we left smelling like smoke.

Some friends and I went to melting pot for a dessert night and we were not disappointed!! We ordered the s'mores and milk chocolate fondue, both of which were absolutely delicious. We got dippings (pound cake, brownies, brookies, strawberries, bananas, marshmallows, Rice Krispies) and ordered a couple add-ons (cream puffs and cheesecake for $3 each). We highly recommend getting the cream puffs because they paired perfectly with the chocolate. However, what really made the experience (or more like who) was our server Bailey! He was one of the most cheerful, accommodating, and kind servers. He made sure we had everything we needed and absolutely elevated the good mood with his own upbeat and fun vibes! The only thing to keep in mind is that this is all a bit pricey. I paid about $21 for everything (tip included) and this was after splitting the cost with one other person. One dessert fondue serves two people and is $22, plus the add-ons for $6, plus tip. It's reasonable if you're going with a group of 2 or more.

Went here for my birthday and it was a truly different experience. Cooking your own food and trying the different sauces was fun. My family and friends enjoyed ourselves.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVVVEE! This is such a unique experience. I went with my sister and mom for a little family "date" night, and it was so much fun. We did the original deal (which is intended for a date night meal for two people) and our waitress let us order it for just us, without adding on the price of another person. It was still plenty of food. We left stuffed and happy. For those who haven't been there, you start off with a fondue of your choice and you get some dippers (bread, apples, vegetables, etc) and that alone is very filling. Then you get salads (if you're doing the meal combo, which I recommend). Next you cook your food in a hot pot style. Finally, the chocolate!! It is perfect. It allows for great conversation, too. We ended up being there for 2 hours, when we would normally be in and out of a restaurant in less than an house. Highly recommend!

My son celebrated his birthday here with his girlfriend. I surprised them and called and picked up the tab for their gift. Jerod was their waiter who helped me with making this night special. Quinn is the manager who was awesome in helping with this process too! Thanks Melting Pot for being awesome!

Absolutely amazing experience with Jarrod and Kate last Wednesday night. My best friend and i wanted to do a last minute date night and actually had a reservation elsewhere.... we were sat there and waited 25 minutes and nobody came to help us, even after we told the host nobody had been by. It was unreal the lack of care and customer service.... and i work at another restaurant in town. I was shocked. We ended up finding Melting Pot and saw the Wednesday BFFF deal. Neither of us had been before so we figured it was meant to be and they had a deal. Both Jarrod and Kate were extremely helpful in explaining the menu to two people who had absolutely no idea how it worked. The food was amazing all around. drinks were great, and service was exceptional. We will definitely be back and thank you for saving our night!!!!!

California salad, Wisconsin Wedge salad, fiesta cheddar dip and spread

This was my second time here and my fiancés first time. We were celebrating my birthday and oh em gee! Was it special!? We had the 4course meal for two. We started with the fiesta cheese dip which was accompanied with the traditional bread, broccoli, cauliflower and apples. Then came our salads I had the California salad and my fiancé ate the Wisconsin wedge salad. Both salad plates were cleaned! Our entree came out with the mojo cooking style (recommended by my sister). My fiancé was super confused at first because he didn't understand that we would be cooking our own food (I kinda snuck that in at the last minute) but eventually got the hang of it and enjoyed the experience. Our final course was dessert and it came with a happy birthday plate and a candle on top of a piece of cake. Super special super fun I definitely recommend. Oh wait and their drinks AMAZING!

Standard dippers are unlimited! What?!?

I know it's a chain restaurant BUT I love this location. The service is always wonderful and attentive. This was my first time with a child in tow. I've spent many date nights here in the past but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the Melting Pot has a kids menu! That being said, my 5 year old wanted nothing to do with fondue but he loved the anti pasto appetizer. Kind of wish they offered a grilled cheese sandwich at least but hey it's a start. You have to do cheese and chocolate here. We opted to share an entree and I believe that was a wise decision. That way we had more opportunity for cheesy deliciousness and chocolate dipped everything. The coqu a vin broth option was wonderful. I know Tallahassee has so many wonderful dinner options, especially for a special night out however this Melting Pot location never disappoints!

Bacon and Gorgonzola!

So The Melting Pot has been on my list of places to go for a long time now, but I've never had anyone to go with until recently. I've also never been to a fondue place, so I was excited to try it for my first time. I went on a Friday evening with a group of friends, and we all got the full course. I got the house salad, which was quite good. Simple, but good. For our cheese, we got the Bacon and Gorgonzola. I was not disappointed. Very very good with the breads, fruits, and vegetables that they give you. It was thick and creamy, and had slightly tang to it, and stuck to the dipping items quite nicely. The only reason I'm giving this place a 4 instead of 5 is because the main course wasn't as great as I was hoping it'd be. It's good, but not great for the price. I ordered the classic, so it came with a variety of things like sirloin and shrimp. I also ordered a side of salmon to go with it. In my opinion, the salmon was the best thing there. Very tender, and it maintained a very fresh taste and feel. Dipping that in the various sauces was close to perfect. Side note, when cooking your things with a group of people, go about 30 seconds to a minute longer than they tell you in the pot or else it could still be raw in the middle. For dessert, we got the flaming turtle. Excellent. The flaming part was also pretty cool at the beginning. The chocolate fondue mixture did not disappoint. It was easily my favorite part of the meal. I also ordered a side cheesecake slice. It had a chocolate crust with chocolate raspberry filling. Also delicious. I was only able to get decently full after ordering the extra stuff that I did, so I was a little surprised at the portion sizes. However I can eat a lot, so I guess in reality it's normal. As everyone knows, this place is pretty pricey. I paid $61 before tipping, and I only ordered 2 extra side items. Definitely a special occasion location only. The staff was pretty great though. Very involved with the table and personal, which we all appreciated. I'll definitely try to go back, but it'll be awhile.

Although no one was at the front when I first arrived, the owner quickly came out, seated me, and checked in throughout my meal to make sure everything was going well. His hospitality set a great tone for the visit. My server, Romeo, was outstanding--friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. He took the time to explain how hot pot works, helped set up my table, and offered excellent broth and food recommendations. The broth temperature was perfect, and everything cooked just right. The restaurant itself felt a bit dated, but the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Even though it was quiet and I was dining alone, the attentive service and conversation made the experience enjoyable. While the location is somewhat hidden in a storefront area, this spot has strong potential and could be a big hit in a college town like Tallahassee with FSU, TCC, and FAMU nearby. Overall, it was well worth the visit, and I would definitely recommend Volcano Hot Pot.
