Mistakes happen, so I was fine waiting for a remake. Unfortunately, after another 20-minute wait, I took it to go. Being from New York, I've really missed a good chopped cheese and have been craving one for quite some time. The sandwich came with a choice of side, and I chose the French fries. While it was a decent sandwich, it just wasn't an authentic New York chopped cheese. The lettuce wasn't chopped but simply placed on top, and it was missing the chopped tomatoes and onions that help make the sandwich so special. It was served on a hoagie roll, but the it wasn't smashed together the way I'm used to seeing in New York. My husband ordered the Brisket Dipper, which also came with a choice of side. He selected the soup of the day, a beef and rice soup. The sandwich was served with an au jus dipping sauce and was good, but not memorable. In fact, we both agreed the brisket at our local Ovation Bistro & Bar is much more flavorful. The soup arrived as essentially a cup of shredded beef in broth, and the rice had accidentally been left out. The server quickly brought it over afterwards. When I spotted bread pudding on the dessert menu, I couldn't resist ordering one of my all-time favorite desserts. Unfortunately, it was another disappointment. The bread pudding was very dense, covered with large dollops of whipped topping, and didn't taste particularly fresh. Overall, while the service was friendly and attentive, the food simply didn't live up to the recommendation we had received. With more than a dozen restaurants nearby offering excellent dining options, this isn't one we'd return to.
