I went here because I bought a group-on for the meats at their butcher counter. It was a great decision because everything I've had from them has been delicious so far. The maple bourbon steak tips are the bomb. BUY THEM. The flavor was so amazing and I don't know how they get the steak so tender and delicious. I can definitely see me going back for more with an undying craving. They also sent me home with some free steak tip samples in their signature rub. I ate them later that night . . . .Yummy, great tenderness, cool that they gave us samples, but . . . maple bourbon all the way. They also have an impressive andoullie sausage. (I also have some lamb burgers and steaks that I have yet to try - I'm sure they'll be delicious.) As for the store, they keep plenty of help on staff. They are attentive to customers and willing to help, which I liked. They did hold the door for us on our way out, which is nice, but made me feel slightly silly. However, the store and staff create a very good atmosphere together. I will definitely use the meat house for some good summer bbqs. read more

This a over priced upscale butcher shop. Goto the Meat guys down on old county road for a much better selection and reasonably priced meats. And fyi to everyone, buy a good meat tenderizer and any cut of meat can be tender and delicously mariated in your own home. Instead of paying 10-12 bucks a pound for marinated meats. read more

We have a Meat House in Charlotte, so I told my grandma to pick up meat from here since it's right near her house. Upon walking in, we walked around, and then were greeted by a gentleman who gave us a free sample of a steak tip (very good), and a tour of the store. Not only that, but he explained everything to my grandmother, and answered all of her questions with a smile. When asked if he could cut a steak in half because it was so big, he said yes and sliced it in half. Very gracious. Everybody had a smile in the store. We wanted to get a baguette, and there are no bread bags, so essentially you walk out with naked bread or put in a produce bag. Odd. After grilling, here's a breakdown of what we got and how it was: The Kobe Steak was mine, and was delicious. No two ways around it. Delicious. Soft, juicy, seasoned already and fantastic. So good. The Steak Tips were good, I think the quality depends tip to tip, but they're very good overall. The Cowboy (steak that he sliced in half--like a ribeye) was ingested by my grandfather, and the porterhouse was swallowed by my uncle. The steaks all went over very well--everyone was very happy with them. The potatoes were okay, and cole slaw was good. I think my grandma will head back, and we will continue to go to our location in Charlotte. read more

I'm not a person who can drive by a place named the "Meat House" without doing a quick u turn to check it out. The store is new, remarkably clean and the staff very helpful which is highly unusual for the north shore of Long Island. I picked up some italian sausage and asked the guy behind the counter to cut me a 2.5-3 pound porterhouse steak. He showed me the piece to be cut and asked me if it "had enough marble". A I walked around the store, another gentleman asked if I wanted to sample a tri-tip. Of course, I accepted. When I checked out they not only held the door for me, they walked me to the car. While I thought in was very kind, in the back of my mind I was wondering if my 60 year old body was starting to look like an old man. I grilled the porterhouse over charcoal to get a great sear on both sides and browned some imported butter as is common in NY steak houses. The steak was exceptional! I intentionally did not purchase the aged meat as I wanted to see what the quality was on the basic meat. Honestly, the value ($13.99 per pound) and quality sparkled. Yesterday, I returned and the young man behind the counter remembered who I was and what I bought last time. I asked him to compare the cowboy steak or the porterhouse and he immediately recommended a beautiful cowboy. Again, it was spectacular. I also asked him about the hot dog (I forget the name) but I had never seen them before and asked what was so special. He honestly told me he neverhad one and wrapped one to go at no charge. It had snap to the tooth and was not as salty as a typical commercial store bought dog. Everything purchased was great in value and price for this area. There are probably 10 stores to purchase meat that are closer to me but I will continue to go the the Meat House for quality of food and service. If you just want to buy their precut steaks and whatnot I'm sure this place is wonderful, but after they offered to do any cut I wanted I asked for a few chuck eye steaks. What I received wasn't even close to being a chuck eye steak, and they had decided to hammer the meat. The young clerk/"butcher" taking care of my order was earnest and friendly so I didn't have the heart to tell him that he wasn't even close, even though there was a poster of the cuts right next to him showing all the different cuts. At least they had reasonably priced seasonings and the precut steaks did look pretty good. Ended up grinding the chuck myself for burgers since the very tough chuck cuts weren't good for steaks. I guess I should have known better, since every "butcher" in this place looked like a college student on a summer job. read more

I had to do the I told you so update. I was the first to review this place just over two years ago. It was very good but I warned you that you had two years at best and then it would close. Well the quality and selections diminished over time and just like I told ya they are now closed. What a shame. read more

Not a single review since Nov 2012. Wonder why? I had some great steaks in the past. Recently steaks were terrible. Tasted like they were frozen and thawed. Reported tough, bad tasting steaks to staff, they ignored my concerns. Not sure I will go back. read more

Clearly one of the most well trained and courteous staff I have ever encountered on Long Island. They go above and beyond in order to ensure you are well taken care of. Just went here last night for the first time to get tips which are pretty hard to find at a regular butcher that are already prepared. I got the Maple bourbon tips and house marinated tips. We loved the maple bourbon ones!! Extremely tender and delicious flavor. The house tips had a bit of a gamey taste which I didn't really love. I will definitely be going back to try other flavors and different cuts of meat. read more

I first found out about the Meat House by purchasing a groupon. The staff at the Meat House was terrific. Everyone was very helpful and the counter person answered all my questions and helped me pick a couple cuts of meat. The filet was one of the best ive ever had. I find this shop to be so strange. Always a gentleman to greet you at the door and lots of people working.....yet noone is ever available to assist you when you need the help. In one instance, I placed my order with the deli clerk and then watched him as he not only took a phone order while I was standing there waiting....but then proceeded to fill it...after being ignored for a good while, I eventually left. On another occasion, I had returned for a specific item, (Boar Sausage) that they had previously had. After the man at the door gave me the usual greeting, everyone seemed to disappear. When I asked the deli counter clerk if they had it, he pointed to where it would be. He then came over watching me look, dug around, said "huh" and walked away. Nothing more. No "we must be out of it" or "hold on, let me check or ask someone"....just a grunt. There are plenty of other quality butchers in the area who are happy to provide service along with quality prices. It's also located in a difficult location to get in and out of.... not worth the effort. read more
