I did some research before I went to the showroom because I was thinking of investing in a good quality massage chair. I looked at a bunch of different brands and Inada stood out for me. They've been around for 50 years, they only make massage chairs and looking at their list of innovations, pretty much invented most of the functions that modern massage chairs use today. I also liked the fact that they only have three models on the market, I'm all about quality over quantity.
I called up TheMassageChair.com and they told me they had all three Inada models in their Queens, New York showroom. It's close to the subway and I found it pretty easily. Their collection is small but features a good selection of some of the main brands. It was helpful to see the real thing, I mean, the Inada chairs just looked better. You could literally see the difference in quality.
I tried out a couple of different chairs first so that I had something to compare the Inada models with, some of them felt great, in fact I was leaning towards an Osaki model that gave a nice strong massage. But I pretty much fell in love when I tried Inada's DreamWave Sogno massage chair (HCP-10001A). It is by far the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in (who knows how many businesses could benefit by installing a few of these in their offices!). Of all the massage chairs I tried, it delivered the most subtle and comfortable massage. I also liked the flexibility of the functions, you can adjust the intensity of the massage, what they call a 3-D massage. This was important because whereas I like a strong massage, my mom's in her seventies and I really wanted a chair that she could use as well.
In the end, it was totally the right decision to purchase the DreamWave Sogno because I can't get my mom off it now! I always make sure the rollers are in their lowest setting and she's good to go. The remote is easy to use so after a few gos she had no trouble working it herself. On the other hand, if I feel like a really strong massage I just flip the headrest over so that my back is in full contact with the rollers.
The auto-programs are a blast. The "Dreamwave" program is this incredible pelvis and hip massage, my mom says it's like dancing! My favorite is the "Stretch" program, I pretty much sit in front of a computer all day at work and it's good to come back home and get pulled back into shape, my posture's improved a lot since I've started using the chair. The shoulder massage is also a huge plus, you get pressure pushing down on your shoulders which feels great. The chair also has a heating function which is useful during the winter. All in all, the chair gave the most sophisticated and the most comfortable full-body massage.
Another thing that really sold me the chair was its warranty, with other brands I checked the warranty is limited to a one year in-home service, Inada has a full 3 Year in-home warranty that covers parts and labor for 3 years. This gave me some peace-of-mind when purchasing the chair. I've been using it for a few months now and have absolutely no regrets about the purchase, both my wife and I are less stressed and seem to have more and more energy, we've even started to exercise, which is a big deal in our lazy family! I also want to say thanks to the folks at TheMassageChair.com, you guys were really friendly and helpful, and made the whole process painless. read more
