My mom has a beautiful room of her own with a full bath, and has access to several beautiful common areas. The food is wonderful, and residents can make special menu requests (e.g. my mom loves cantaloupe - so they'll bring some in for her if it's not on the menu). They have activities - but no pressure to join, and outings like shopping and concerts. They offer a private pay spend down to medicare and automated billing. There's only about 20 residents there which is not as overwhelming as some places. Pets can visit (but not live there), and residents can head out with family or friends anytime they like. It's in a beautiful country atmosphere but 10 minutes from Essex/Tafts corners, and 15 from Burlington. We've struggled with mom's expensive care for years and feel we've made the right choice with Sterling House for so many reasons.

My mother was at Sterling House for a little over three years. As any of you know who have needed…read moreto put a parent into assisted living, it's a tough thing to find a good place. I searched all over Vermont for a good fit, and I finally found it at Sterling House. The management was wonderful to work with and really made the process easier. Once my mother moved in, management and the staff were always just a phone call away to answer questions. My mother loved it there. She considered the staff her friends and was always talking about them. I never once doubted that my mother was getting amazing care in a great environment. The Sterling House is like a real home - it's small and cozy. The dining room feels like one we would have in our own home. Their rooms are quite large and have nice windows to let the sun shine in. It is the small touches that meant a lot to my mom - them making her favorite meal on her birthday, getting a Christmas stocking, things like that. For my brother and I, it was the immediate access to staff and management. If we ever had a question or concern, no matter how small, they were always great about responding. The review by Martha C is really sad to me. I have NEVER seen anyone scolded, and if she had been, my mother certainly would have told me. I also take issue with the staff not interacting with the residents, as that is not my experience at all. My brother and I visited my mother all the time. There is always staff around interacting, playing games, listening to stories, etc. The staff are very involved. My mother's room was also always clean. They do a great job coming in and helping them. In fact, my mother's room was far neater and cleaner than it ever was at home! Overall, I really can't recommend Sterling House enough. Putting a parent into assisted living was one of the hardest things I have ever done. They helped me through the whole process, and were kind and understanding. They were always there while she was a resident to answer questions. And when my mother passed, they were a shoulder to cry on and incredibly supportive. The management and staff are just wonderful. The care is great. The staff really care about the residents, which makes all the difference.

First up is the atmosphere: this is not your run of the mill fit club largely due to its bright environs (the floor to ceiling windows make up much of the wall space here); It's stylish, has decor, live plants which make it all seem very inviting. It is uber clean inside, no off aromas like some 24 hour place I know that brags about not being judgmental, but I wish they judged the cleanliness and aromas in their gyms. Anyway, there is a swimming pool (kept at a really comforting temperature) that also serves for aquatic exercise class, and some physical therapy sessions. The land type offerings include state-of-the-art, brand new and well maintained (think cleanliness here) equipment (there seems to be something for everyone with respect to equipment). Finally the people who work here are stellar in my estimation. They are kind, relaxed, professional, and the list could go on and on. It's just really un empty place. I'm so glad that I found it. The only downside if there could be one would be the hours that they are opened because it's basically 7 AM to 6 PM which can be somewhat limited for from some people's perspective. No biggie for me. I just love the place and highly recommend it!

I am unsure why this medical office received such bad reviews. I was seen almost immediately…read more Everyone greeted me warmly from Stacy to Paulette to Tina. Ashley who guided me to the patient exam room and did my triage/pre-assessment was very kind and patient, and also had some pretty stylish boots. For a medical office, I must say they were a stylish bunch and I let them know it, but I did go on their Casual Friday as they told me it was. The office was also very clean, smelled nice, and even was decorated for Christmas. It seems that they are quite booked because the physicals they had available to book were few which is a good sign. It's just a little bit challenging if you are a new patient (which I was/am). Overall, I just wished to say that the staff was very nice. Dr. Sarah (who is an ARNP, but i still call nurse practitioners and PA's doctors anyways lol) was pleasant and went through my health questionnaire and also addressed my cold/swollen lymph nodes concern. I also like that there is a pharmacy located behind the office as well. A nice added touch was the Christmas tree in the corner that had knit mittens on it that you could either take a pair from or donate a pair to. There is also a bulletin board that communicates things such as vaccine schedules, therapy help, and other things like a wellness drumming session which i did not know existed. I had to schedule my physical exam a few months out, but I appreciated the promptness of my appt. and the candor in which the staff demonstrated towards me. I hope this review helps start a positive review trend.
