But the photos was something I really cared about, so I did do a bit of shopping there. I looked at a number of photographer sites, and there was a wide range, from high end fine art to those that I would not hire for a kid's birthday party. Mick's sample photographs were more in the middle, straight forward documentary shots, with some fine art mixed in but nothing too crazy. I think he would go there with the right couple, but you would have to talk to him about what you wanted. We booked a "Day in the Life" package, which was perfect. A lot cheaper then a number of other photographer quotes, with transportation thrown in to the various venues. We were cruising to the island and off again, so time was important to us, even if we started the day already running late. Mick was a great help, and our very small wedding party made it to the Synagogue on St. Thomas for the ceremony. From there, we went to Blackbeard's Castle for some more shots, then off to a beautiful island overlook, to another historic property, then to an unspoiled beach. Mick had a driver and very comfortable transport for us, and the last few destinations were exceptionally beautiful. At the historic site we took what I call my Town and Country photos, literally ready for a glossy magazine spring wedding issue. After the big day, Mick was able to post the proofs on line just 2 days later, and then he emailed a few select shots so I could report them on Facebook and forward them to friends and family, letting the folks back home see the images before I even returned. With the proofs already posted and the day completed smoothly, I know that the final package will be amazing, with a series of prints, a photo book, and some hand tinted images all included in the package price. If you are off to Paradise for your wedding, or anniversary, or other big event, I could not recommend Mick any more heartily.

I did a quick search on a local Facebook Group for the Virgin Islands looking for maternity…read morephotographers or potentially even mini sessions with a photographer. To my surprise, Sara was the only result so I decided to check her IG & FB out before reaching out to her for both legitimacy and quality. I did also look at comparable photographers on island and none really focused on maternity or offered mini sessions, they all seemed extremely wrapped up in the wedding business which I'm sure I could have reached out and inquired on what I was seeking but the lack of any work suggested otherwise. I was so pleasantly surprised I had hit the jackpot with Sara, I reached out right away and made arrangements. She was very professional and responsive. I explained this was an on a whim idea to take our family maternity photos while vacationing there in a week and I wasn't even prepared with clothing options. I ended up borrowing a gorgeous dress, found appropriate clothing for my daughter and husband and was ready to make it happen. Her booking process was effortless and she proved a bit about our comfort level with photography and visions. We discussed beach options and ended up at one she recommended and couldn't be happier with the results. She was so quick to turn around a sneak peek and the work itself. I can't believe how easy it is to work with beautiful sunset and natural lighting and she absolutely knew how to be advantageous. I also loved that she showed us photos of the poses to help us understand how to get in place and use our time the best way possible. I'm so happy we had that 30 minutes with Sara we have some gorgeous photos to represent this time and I highly suggest any family that's looking to capture some fun moments to contact her and make it happen. I want to start by saying that Nick is undoubtedly talented. During our wedding day and our boat…read moreday, he was absolutely great to work with. He has a way of making everyone feel so comfortable, almost like he was just another member of the family celebrating with us. We were happy with most of the wedding photos and the work he did on the boat day was wonderful. However, the professional experience following the wedding was incredibly stressful. We got married in August, and despite his website advertising a 30-45 day turnaround for wedding imagery, we did not receive all of our photos/video until the end of March. The most frustrating part was the total lack of communication. For months, we reached out at least two or three times every month via emails, calls, and messages, most of which went completely unanswered. It reached a point where Nick actually blocked me on both Instagram and Facebook while he still owed us our wedding footage. I only finally received a response after I commented on a public photo he posted. Ironically, that response came on the same day he was meeting with our wedding planner for a different event, which did not feel like a coincidence. Beyond the delay, there are pieces of our day we will never get back. We have no video footage of our first dance or any of the speeches made. Because we hired a professional videographer, we specifically asked our guests not to record those moments, so those memories are now unfortunately lost to us. Additionally, the two canvas prints included in the package we paid for were never delivered. I take responsibility for not realizing there was no specific timeline written into our contract, but I completely understand that creative projects can take longer than expected. However, the lack of updates and the decision to block a paying client is deeply unprofessional. I have since learned that I am not the first bride to have this experience with him, and I am sharing this so that no one else has to deal with this kind of unnecessary stress surrounding their wedding memories.
