I'll start by stating "I love the mango lassi". Its a good innovation. Never had it before. A must try. A very needed Indian Restaurant in Medicine Hat since I was not a fan of the one we had before this. Great food. The chefs are doing a really good job. My favourite is the Kadahi Chicken and The Mixed Grill. They ask you the spice level for your food to make sure that you don't burn off your taste buds and have to chug 4L milk. Just like I mentioned earlier, mango lassi is very good. Sweet lassi and salty lassi are also worth trying. They also offer Indian beer which is not offered by most Indian Restaurants in Alberta (the ones I know of). The staff is very friendly. Great service. Being said that, more visits to the table are suggested. People who complain about the longer times for the food to come, really should know that it takes time to prepare Indian food. And its a good sign that food was not pre-made and then just heated up. The ambiance is nice. Similar to the restaurant which was in this property before these guys but they have added a lots of paintings and other stuff related to India to make it look traditional, which is good. Very clean. Served old food for regular price. Food: The food was clearly old and hard to chew. Garlic naan's were very sticky, again very old. Price: They charged us full price for the old, inedible food. Overall: Never been there during the day but won't recommend anyone to get food in the night as it might be old. Never going back to them because of this bad experience. read more

We were waiting for a long time for our food to come like 20 minutes or more! There were two girls before us but they got their food even after us which is sad. The food is above average. However, since I came from Vancouver there are much better Indian food there. For average joe this is not a bad place at all and I think most people would consider this is a good Indian restaurant. I am eating vegetarian diet for a month so I cannot try their meat dish. I like the way they make chickpea curry here and other curry are fine for me. Sadly that they couldn't make any meat dish without dairy here. They were willing to make the dishes gluten free but when it comes to dairy then they aren't not willing to make the meat dishes without cream or yogurt. FOOD: Pretty good, and the portions were generous. Presentation was also eye-catching, and the prices are reasonable. Not the best Indian food I've had, but definitely above average. SERVICE: Terrible-- my husband and I waited a very long time for everything (water, the server to take our orders, our food, the check). And our server was a woman who was clearly not at all excited to be there, and really the only thing she did was sort of grunt and nod when asked questions. She also got our orders wrong and completely forgot our appetizer-- but charged us for it anyway. At checkout, the woman at the counter did graciously take the appetizer off our bill for us, but still. Our waters remained empty for the majority of the meal, and I never got silverware at all. AMBIENCE: Very cute decor, would definitely bring a date. Clean, wide-open spaces. Tables are large with ample room. BATHROOMS: VERY beautifully clean. No complaints. This was one of my stops while traveling to Calgary. From the outside, the place looks very simple. But once you walk in, it is super fancy. My partner and I ordered the Mango Chicken Takki and Butter Chicken with naan and a side order of Mango Lassi. First of all - the mango lassi was amazing! So refreshing! I actually preferred the butter chicken over the mango chicken takki. I guess it just struck me as being more flavorful. The naan was so good too when you eat it with the butter chicken. Overall, the service was pretty good - there wasn't a lot of people when I went (weekday around 5pm). I'd definitely make another trip here if I'm passing through Medicine Hat. read more

I stayed down the hallway in the Baymont Hotel, and out of convenience, or what I thought was convenient. Round 1) I got notification the food was ready, I walk down the hallway and see a bag of food that looks like the amount I ordered. The ignorant girl behind the kiosk proceeded to tell me it wasn't mine. She juggled 2 phone calls and rambled for 5 minutes as I waited, she said my order will be ready in 15 minutes. So I go back to the hotel room, walk down 15 minutes later. No ones there, the same bag of food that's now been moved to a table, which has been mine the WHOLE TIME. I walk into the restaurant with no one around, read the receipt to confirm the order, and walk out the door with my food unnoticed. Round 2) I order the mango chicken with garlic Naan, walk down the hallway, am handed a huge paper bag. Walk back to my room, and it's a plastic container of mango chicken, NO naan, no utensils to eat it with as I told her I'm down the hall staying at the Baymont. Now I'm currently on the toilet pissing out my ass from likely undercooked chicken or lack of sanitary procedures, considering how round 3 might go. read more

I was born and grew up in south India. I'm a foodie and an avid cook , I've been Cooking for a long time and I know how east Indian food should taste like. I ordered chicken briyani and all I got was rice mixed with some chicken and tomatoe sauce. I was really very hungry but I wasn't able to get through half of it. Briyani is always served with raitha and I didn't get any, the food was dry and very hard to swallow had to flush it down with water . My wife ordered their thali with Chicken Curry with was full of ginger and very sweet. The waitress had Zero knowledge of the food being served. read more

While we've never eaten AT the Mango Tree in Medicine Hat, we've definitely ordered delivery multiple times, and each time we have really enjoyed our meals. I've been told Mango Tree is a chain, but regardless, it offers delicious Indian food at relatively good prices. I'm vegetarian, so we've ordered it multiple paneer dishes and loved them all--finding the mango paneer to be the best among the batch. Our only caution is that the food is actually quite mild for Indian food in our experience. Ordering it mild means it will be QUITE mild, so remember that when you check it out. read more

My favorite is butter chicken or coconut chicken and now I also enjoy another amazing chicken dish (can't remember the name- Khadi ?) along with both rice and naan bread. Their naan bread is totally amazing and makes me always want to take another order home with us. Wow, what a hidden gem in the 'Hat! Outside it didn't look very impressive, but inside the decor and ambiance was really nice. Natural wood tables and nice lighting at our booth. Service was terrific, and the FOOD. Oh, the food had my wife and I going on and on... we had the butter chicken, mango chicken, and garlic naan bread. Placed an order on the phone and the woman initially told us it was halal after we confirmed a few times, This was great to hear because it is difficult to find halal food in Medicine Hat. However, upon placing the actual order, she said it wasn't halal in an extremely aggressive way, so we had to cancel the order. OMG!!! (In my Janice from Friends voice) .. Crazy... Had to come to Medicine Hat for the best Indian meal ever! My boyfriend and I both agreed on this. We ate every bit of our take-out and if I there was more, we would have kept eating.. The flavour was amazing. He had the Tandoori chicken and I had the Mango Tikka Chicken. The mango tikka was perfectly moist, tender and yummy!!! A balance of tang, sweet and slight delicious char - perfection... It was on a delicious bed of basmati rice. The butter naan bread that came with our meal is already haunting me. Truth be told, we will be going again tomorrow before we leave Medicine Hat. It will be sad to leave! It's about time Medicine Hat had good Indian food! The food here is amazing and comes in huge portions, so you won't leave hungry. The atmosphere is really nice and cozy and the prices are great. The people here are exceptionally nice too, which puts the cherry on an already great cake! read more

Phenomenal food. Did the three course. Great options. Nice and quiet. My only comment would be some minor changes to the seating.

The food here is amazing! Despite service that's a bit slow, I am giving it 5 stars. The food outshines everything else. Top of our list is coconut chicken and the naan bread. We also like the aloo ghobi, butter chicken, and beef biryani. We really haven't had a dish that we didn't like. We like to have it family style so that everyone gets to try a bit of everything. Bland, flavorless and when confronted about the fact that this was not how the food should taste even in comparison to its sister location in brooks. We were lied too and told we did not know what we were talking about and refund or remake of order was not going to happen.
