According to the train schedule, waits for trains are usually 7-8 minutes for most of the day. Chinatown is a neighborhood that is split into two parts, as one part contains Chinatown Square, while the other part contains the main Chinatown neighborhood. The station is located in an eastern location between these two areas that is equidistant to both. The elevated train platform also has a nice view of the Chinatown area including the neighborhood library and the Chinatown gate. On the street, the station entrance is close to the Nine Dragon Wall, which is a nice piece of Chinese art. I recommend this station if you are trying to get to Chinatown as trains are frequent and because it operates at all times of the day. There is no need to take a car if you are a tourist unless you are buying some heavy relic or coming from out of town.

Post-Renovation Review:…read more Berwyn station was closed when I moved to Chicago. Recently, the renovated station opened, and looking at old photos, the CTA made excellent choices! It seems like the old Berwyn resembled the current Thorndale - too narrow and cramped. The new Berwyn is clean (for now), wide, has more than ample, clear signage, and is fully accessible. While not the work of art some of Sweden's T-Bana are, the lobby has splashes of color, and the platform is sleek, modern, and offers protection from the elements. My biggest criticism is to do with the benches. The angled, metal benches that require sustained effort to not slide off are more discomfort than they're worth. So much so I chose to stand rather than sit for 10-ish minutes. I get it, the CTA wants to discourage loitering, but it seems they've done so almost *too* well.

As a rule, I never give less than three stars to a transit stop simply because they do what I need them to do... get me from somewhere to somewhere else. I really enjoy the Berwyn stop. For a station pretty far out of the loop, it is generally clean and feels safe at all hours of the day. With the recent construction on the Argyle stop, I have had the choice between walking to the Lawrence stop or Berwyn for my Red Line needs... and though Lawrence is a bit closer I go to Berwyn more often than not because it is a more pleasant experience. Now I understand that this stop will be going through some maintenance. Hopefully this will only make one of my favorite stops better.

At Division Street is a pretty good CTA station, helped by being in a pretty safe area. It has some…read moregood drinking and eating choices around here. Kind of busy all the time. Lots of hipsters and wannabes going about with the nightlife. There's convenient access to bus routes. It has a pretty good location where Division Street meets with Ashland and Milwaukee Avenues. It serves the Blue Line. This is between the Chicago Avenue and Damen stations. Inside there's kind of a fart odor as others have mentioned. The station is mostly okay besides this. Of course there's a few sketchy people but that's typical stuff around. There's a few bus stops that are located conveniently close by here. Good area. It has lots of hip ass cool bars and restaurants. It seems like it's mostly safe.

Even you're lucky to get upstairs, the platform is very narrow, so you should be really careful there. I cannot imagine how people with disabilities should behave there. Even though there's not as much going on, there's some things worth checking out if you're around here. There's some nice bars and restaurants. About the best thing to say about it is that it's a classic. It serves the Brown Line. The station has a hell ton of stairs. It's a bitch to climb. Of course at the top of it you have some good views. It's one of the best ways to get to Ravenswood. There's a few bars and restaurants close to it that don't have the crowds like the Blue Line station. Also check out the suitcase furniture. There's nothing like sitting on a wooden suitcase, that's for sure. Besides the nearly endless stairs, this station is a favorite. It maintains history while slightly modernizing. The only thing is there's often some kind of track issue so it can take awhile waiting for trains.

Much safer now than decades ago. The climb seems steeper than before but of course it's me that's changed. As with elsewhere, CTA employees are unfriendly and disinterested at best, hostile and loathing more typically.

We had a little hiccup at the very beginning with a malfunctioning bus door, but Winnie and our driver handled it with grace and humor and soon we were on our way. The tour covers a lot of ground and I heard a lot of out-of-town visitors happily exclaiming about the cool Chicago facts and sights they were learning about. I had a renewed appreciation for the city I've come to love as our driver expertly shuttled us all around town. On such a hot day I think everyone appreciated not having to leave the bus, and having a guide in costume and in character really makes it more fun. I used to take this tour with all of my out-of-town visitors years ago when it was two guys and a school bus painted black, and I've taken it periodically since they expanded. I'm happy to say it's still as great as ever, and I'll definitely keep this tour in mind when people come visit me this summer.
