This store is quite a gem. I was visiting Madison and happened upon this store by chance. I was very impressed with the quality and variety of the merchandise offered for sale, and the prices were very reasonable given the nature of the quality. While they did not have what I was looking for at the moment, a small desk, I have since been back and there appears to be a good turnover of merchandise. This is one of those places worth visiting regularly. Also, we were warmly welcomed and it was a very comfortable and enjoyable shopping experience. Looking forward to returning soon and recommend to anyone looking for high quality pieces. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the poor service, lack of integrity, and apparent purposeful sabatoge of the malicious owner of the Madison stock exchange. When I walked into the Madison stock exchange to pick up the Annie Sloan paint, gifted to me by a family member, I was enthusiastic, and hopeful about my plans to refurbish my home, and various pieces of furniture. Sadly, my enthusiasm quickly turned to discomfort as the owner, Gary, began to subtly gaslight me, open my package without asking, and snidely wish me well, using the laquer. Despite this impolite treatment, I shrugged off Gary's behavior as the result of a bad day, and completed my errands for the day without giving the situation a second thought. The subsequent painting project went well, and after three days of mixing and painting, I had achieved the perfect Wedgewood blue, matte tone, that I had been striving for. Enter the laquer from hell. Firstly, the laquer was supposed to dry in a matte finish. It dried glossy, completely ruining the subtle, elegant, dusty blue tone, that I had worked so diligently to achieve. Secondly, the laquer completely changed the color from an elegant Wedgewood blue, to a garish, streaked aqua. Therefore after spending almost three days working to achieve perfection, my efforts were destroyed by the application of of a product the owner of the Madison Stock Exchange, most likely knew would be destructive. Hence the veiled sarcasm of our first encounter. Exhausted, and demoralized, I began the process of trying to salvage my work. However, because I was almost out of paint, this was not possible. On the fourth night, after working feverishly through the weekend, I slipped on a wet floor and hit my head. This will no doubt bring a smile to Gary's face, as I am quite certain that he maliciously sold me a destructive, inappropriate, product. Yesterday, confident that Gary would replace the paint, ruined by the destructive, glue-like laquer, I respectfully asked him to stand by his products, and replace the paint destroyed by the laquer, which resembled Elmer's glue. Sadly, Gary's attitude was defensive, accusatory, petty, and malicious. He refused to take accountability, refused to behave with integrity, honesty, decency, or kindness. He actually told me that he would not replace the paint because I pointed out the manipulative, dishonesty of his Spanish Inquisition-like approach. His refusal to stand by his products had nothing to do with the truth, and everything to do with his narcissistic ego needs being thwarted. Quite frankly, I think Gary is an unwell, misogynistic man. But I digress. The Madison Stock Exchange is not willing or able to do business with honesty, integrity, empathy, respect, or accountability. Keeping $240.00 is far more important to Gary, the owner, than customer satisfaction or trust. Don't spend money at this establishment that you are not willing to lose, because Gary will not stand behind his products. read more

OK, this is a great location. Wonderful store for buying. If you want to sell, you need to really find out what all the charges. After accepting merchandise, we found extra charges added that we were not aware of. When I inquired about items that I had not been paid for, found did not sell, so he donated to Goodwill. We have bought three pieces of furniture and two paintings from Madison stock exchange. The store is beautiful and everyone working there has been super helpful but not pushy. Gary, the owner, is wonderful and very knowledgeable. The prices are the most reasonable on the shoreline. Delivery is also reasonably priced and super punctual. I consigned about $4,000 worth of beautiful furniture to Gary at the The Madison Stock Exchange. He was very enthusiastic about receiving it. I rented a U-Haul van to transport the items to him. The following month I received a small check from him with $25.00 deducted for "cleaning." Funny, he never mentioned it when I met with him. I took the time to clean all of my furniture before I delivered it to Gary. Four months went by and I contacted him to retrieve my unsold items because I was having a moving sale. His response was that he donated all of my unsold items to Good Will. It would have taken a lot less effort and time for Gary to call or e-mail me about my unsold items. In fact, he provided me a list of all the unsold items and their price, which totaled $1,640.00. It took him more time to compile the list and keep it in his files than it would have taken him to simply call me or shoot me a quick e-mail. Read the fine print in any agreement. I have never been so happy after a furniture buying experience. Not only are the items absolutely beautiful (later found out that the owner himself does painting/refurnishing of a lot of his pieces), but everything is AMAZINGLY priced. To the point where I thought.. is this for real?! If you're like me and are sick of the Ikeas, the Homegoods, etc - this is the place to find authentic, well made, and even some antique furniture. My first stop with the Madison Stock Exchange was buying furniture.. and my next stop in will be to consign. I discussed the terms with the owner and they seem very fair. You agree on a price - and he is honest about it. He's not going to take your furniture and put it at a price (that maybe you think is right) if he knows it just won't sell. He advised that it doesn't' mean it's not technically worth that price, but informed that because of the demand, maybe, or just what his customer base is looking for, this is what he thinks it should be sold at. I can respect that honesty and would rather someone tell me up front - rather than other consignment stores who price it high, it never sells, and then your items 'disappear' and they are 'not responsible'. 5 stars all around - it's definitely worth at least stopping in.
