We were in the Mac store on Wednesday August 18,2021. Brought in our 90 year old grandmothers IPad in! Being unfamiliar with Apple and ICloud, we were explicitly told it would be like new!! And it was a waste of $41.15! The IPad is now completely useless unless we can find the original receipt from 11 months ago! They factory reset it, but it was iCloud is disabled! Should have been explained before I spent that the money to factory reset it! We were in there for 1.5 hours, plenty of time to give us that information with them being the specialist! read more

I have an iMac, under warranty. The mouse failed. Apple told me to take it to a service center for get a new one. I went to the Mac Guys. While holding the mouse in her hand and seeing the mouse would not even power on, with a room full of Macs she could use to test the mouse and a problem I could easily demonstrate, the woman I spoke to told me they could not replace the mouse under warranty until/unless I brought the entire computer in for diagnostics. I questioned her on whether she could contact Apple to confirm this. She told me the guy in the back said they wouldn't do anything without the computer. She was really trying to make it sound reasonable but it simply wasn't. Minutes later... In the parking lot just a few feet from the front door of The Mac Guys store, I called Apple. I gave them the serial number from my iMac and explained the problem. They are shipping a mouse via FedEx. This is the third time I've sought warranty repair service on an Apple product from this place where I've been treated to this same sort of silly run-around with the same sort of attitude. Their non-warranty service/repair prices are ridiculously high as well. It doesn't matter if you buy the computer from them or not. They charge full list price with the promise of excellent service which they do not deliver. My advice for Apple lovers from La Crosse. You can save hundreds of dollars buying your Apple hardware elsewhere (Amazon, BestBuy, wherever...). Use the money you save to purchase an AppleCare extended warranty. You'll get better support directly from Apple over the phone. Be sure to save your box so you can ship the computer to Apple if it requires repair rather than wasting time taking it to this place. If your experience is like mine, you'll have your repaired computer back from Apple long before this place even has the parts. No common sense. No customer service. No reason to go to The Mac Guys. read more

I will never go to the Mac Guys for anything in the future. I took my iMac to them to see what was wrong with it. They l left a message on my cell phone stating they thought they knew what was wrong with it but did not have a definite answer. When I went to pick it up they said no that is not what was said. I then asked for my computer and I received it back in two different pieces. I did not authorize this to take place. I asked how long this would take to fix and they told me that I would have to leave it with them again as it would take some time. I said no that is not going to be and I picked up the two pieces and I left. I was never so disappointed in a place of business as I was when I left them. If I could give them no stars that is what I would give them. Do not take anything to them as they do not ask for permission and you get your apple product back in pieces. read more

I am very impressed with the service I get from The Mac Guys. I don't pretend to be an expert and when I have questions, I ask. Every time I come here I am greeted very well and am made to feel I'm the only customer in the store. Jeremiah and the crew have knowledge. They have any answer to any question I have ever asked and a solution ready(even if it isn't their store or product). That is class act. Now they sell an amazing brand in my mind, but they aren't over zealous or arrogant about their ability. Good people. Great service and support. I would spend local money at a local store waaaay before a chain store and the Mac Guys are the place to go. Period! read more

I'm very glad I went to the Mac Guys. My laptop broke and I was very worried about the cost for fixing it. They looked into the warranty for my MacBook and found the repairs were covered!!! I would have never known otherwise and would have been out of pocket quite a large sum. I'm glad they did the research. Do not use The Mac guys. Poor customer service and communications on repair status. The contract between the Mac Guys and the customer was misleading. The data was completley washed off a computer without appropriate permission. Offered no solution or apology, only covered their own butt by bringing up the misleading agreement. read more

If I could rate a zero, I would. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with the quality of service I received. This store claims to be knowledgeable in Apple products but they are clearly not. I brought in my laptop because the screen wasn't displaying anything. It was powering up but no display. When I brought it in, I was told that it was the logic board and it would cost about $400 to fix. They offered me $25 to trade in my Macbook, I declined. I brought it somewhere else and was informed it was the hard drive, which was a $50 fix. If this business knew anything about computers, they would have known the hard drive wasn't good, and it wasn't the logic board. Do yourself a favor and buy your products from a store that actually knows a thing or two about Apple products or that doesn't prey on customers who have no other options in the La Crosse area. read more

Our hard drive failed and was a recall from Apple. We used the Mac Guys for help replacing the drive. They wanted to send the drive to Apple, which would then be destroyed and we did not want the drive destroyed. So, we asked for our computer back and they literally refused to give our hard drive back. This was a very unusual situation. We had to contact Apple ourselves to have this resolved. They did replace the drive successfully and with help from Apple Customer Service we were able to keep our old hard drive. Our biggest complaint is that the Mac Guys Customer Service was poor. The gentlemen was rude on the phone and even made us feel like we would not be able to get our hard drive back and was unwilling to help us through this. We have since switched to another group to service our Macs. read more

It's a wonder they're still in business! Brought in a broken Xmas top-of-the line iPad-under warranty-cost $40 PLUS SHIPPING for them to intervene, verify it was defective, and send it back! Next time, I deal directly with Apple or go to a reputable box store. These guys are dicks and act like it actually came out of their personal pocketbooks to replace. Very difficult to deal with. I will never give them another dime, even if it means driving to Madison for decent service! read more

I have been a mac owner for many years and usually don't have any issues with Apple's products. However, I recently purchased a Macbook Air and a few months after purchasing, one of my keys did not work (it stayed depressed, would not pop back up after pressing). Since the computer was under warranty and I had apple care, I thought I would provide a little business to a local store, and I went to The Mac Guys. Of course I signed a drop-off slip that also included their policy that if the repair was not hardware related, they would charge $75. I asked if they thought it was hardware, and they said "probably"...which technically it was. However, after a few days they called and left a message that my Macbook Air was ready and there had just been something lodged underneath the key preventing it from popping back up. So I went to pick up the computer and they said, "that'll be $79." Knowing that I needed my computer back, I paid the fee, went to my car, and immediately called Apple. I explained the situation and the repair that The Mac Guys did, and I asked Apple if they would charge for such a service. Apple said no, especially since the computer was so new, and is under Apple Care. So I went back to The Mac Guys (I forgot to get a receipt), and I said I spoke with Apple and told them that Apple said they would consider the repair to be hardware and would not have charged. The Mac Guys said "sorry," but unless we replace a part, Apple doesn't pay us and it is not considered hardware, and then we charge $75 plus tax. So I said, I guess in the future I will just have to work directly with Apple instead of coming here. Again, they said "sorry about that," and that was it. I left with $75 less in my pocket on an under-warranty computer getting a repair that I could have done myself, or Apple would have done for free. My advice, unless you are absolutely sure you need a part replaced and your computer is still under warranty, DO NOT take it do The Mac Guys. It's a rip-off. read more
