Will definitely be back to stay again! It was beautiful older rustic type scene that was up to date clean and beautiful! Everything is kept neatly and you feel at home.. Anton had fruits, pastries, cake and juices ready to snack on while we waited on our freshly cooked breakfast! (Which was fabulous) I would recommend this place to everyone!! It's a nice quiet place to get away and enjoy a beautiful town! I can not say enough great things about this place!!!

Our bedroom with its own large bathroom was beautifully decorated and so very plush-even had plush robes hanging in the closet for our use! Mini refrigerator was stocked with sodas that we mentioned we liked. We arrived around 3 and went to our room. About an hour later our picnic basket was ready. The sandwiches and cupcakes were DELICIOUS! The next morning our breakfast included a croissant with some kind of blueberry compote and cheese filling with crisp bacon. OMG! The homemade food at Charred Oakes is worth the stay. What a lovely time in a beautiful BnB with very gracious hosts.

From the moment they opened the front door to the morning of our departure, they were very welcoming. Their knowledge of the history of the area, recommendations for restaurants and local businesses, and afternoon picnic baskets were incredible. The room was very cozy and warm. Pamela's homemade breakfasts were amazing (and this is an understatement). I would highly recommend staying at this lovely Inn!!!

Why 5 stars? Because I felt right at home…read more --- --- --- I like staying at bed and breakfasts more because it's a shakeup from the standard and boring hotel. I actually don't even ever take advantage of the breakfast, because I usually have a spot picked out ahead of time on Yelp. I appreciated the owner of Swann's Nest because he waited up for me, through my flight delay, and impromptu dinner in Cincinnati. Then, he put up with an idiot from the south who has absolutely no idea how to drive in the snow. I ended up driving into the garden because it all just looked like a pile of white to me. My room was very nice, and the heater in the bathroom was incredibly clutch. I think I would have been happy just sitting in the hot shower for two days with how disgusting it was outside. I was the only person staying here, and the first since some pipes had burst in the basement. I really enjoyed it, and would definitely recommend it... especially for people coming into town for Keeneland.

We had just started the bourbon tour and were amazed at how few quality places there are to select from in Lexington. We think it would be easier to find a choice of horse lodging than people! We wanted to be in a quiet location and this place scored 10/10. Our king bed was comfortable and the suggestion of dinner places were spot on. Midway is a wonderful small village where the railroad goes right down the middle of the street! The B & B has relaxed feel to it and many extras are included in the price with a self service style that doesn't involve formality. Breakfast is a simple affair, and so much better than the overdose of sugar enthused french toast that some places call breakfast. My only suggestion might be that the bread and English muffin selection whilst large has few non mass market choices. I would hope there are some good local bakers in Lexington? Jason an implant and horse lover from the frozen north of the US, was a delight to chat with, as he had opinions and was happy to express them, which we found very refreshing. We also agreed with his observations and thus a meeting of minds was accomplished. Go visit and listen to their advice, and don't taste too much bourbon and drive!

Just book it--- you will NOT be disappointed…read more My wife and I stayed here for three days and nights, as a home base while exploring various Kentucky highlights. We chose it based on Yelp reviews and location, as she has family in Wilmore. Just needed a place to hang our hats for a few days...well, we found a lot more than that! Having stayed at a few B&Bs around the US, we didn't have the highest expectations for the breakfast fare, and would have been ok with something between typical hotel Continental breakfast and Denny's- level traditional. Be prepared for a major upgrade! Every day Suzanne wowed us, not just with the delicious, creative breakfast, but with the "treat of the day", which was, for us, in order, (homemade) salted chocolate chip cookies, (homemade) rhubarb pie, and (homemade) blueberry buckle. For breakfast on the morning we left, she made Bourbon French Toast with Chocolate Bourbon sauce. We're now spoiled. Not just the quality of the food, but the level of service, too, was far above what we've come to expect at B&Bs. The little touches made the difference---a common sitting room with available DVDs for no additional cost, the free daily bottles of water, tea & coffee always available, the aforementioned treat of the day, fluffy robes in the closet of your room, a bathroom stocked with quality toiletries...and just Suzanne's graciousness as a hostess made this a place my wife and I wholeheartedly recommend, and hope to return to someday. If you're looking for Southern hospitality and charm, you found it.

Our last night there, we ate at the restaurant and had the most delicious beef tartar, crab ravioli and Lamb chops.
