Just too much crap to deal with that I kept putting off. The predatory pricing of my storage company (90% increase in 2 years!) angered me so much I started doing research for getting help with cleaning out my garage so I could move my storage items into it. Looking on the web, Kari Jane's Simply Organized was so highly rated, I felt confident that she could help. By wanting to pay a good service to help me rather than an out of control storage company month after month after month, I figured I had a good budget to work. Kari was very warm and professional and confident she could help me. After describing my situation and sending photos, she scheduled me promptly. She came over with 2 enthusiastic and hard working staffers and they got to work right away. Very diligent and organized and they made enormous progress. By the mid-day, the garage was completely cleared out. I thought it would take 2 or 3 days at least as I had a ton of crap. They diligently removed everything, sorted it out and categorized what could be tossed, or recycled or donated or would stay. And they diligently carried away several cars worth of donations at the end. The items I kept were put in nice transparent cases with clear labels, and there was a lot of room to move my storage in. It is such an enormous relief to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I highly recommend Kari Jane and her staff and services. Completely worth it! Thank you so much!

But, I caught Amelia at a point in her life where she was not equipped to take on my project. She often made mini rants about needing a new team and a new way to organize her work. I have empathy for that as a self-employed person too, but only to an extent. I was very open and vulnerable with Amelia about my life state. I'd just lost my mom and was approaching a big birthday & I explained to her how much it would mean to have this done before retuning from a birthday trip. For context, we worked together over several months, so it wasn't as if I sprung this deadline on her. Everything was going smoothly for the most part, aside from her being late most days. I went on my 3 week long birthday trip, before I left we had discussed her visiting the apartment several times to mostly finish the job, and leave me with some homework on items I would have to sort myself. My housesitter eventually communicated to me that she hadn't reached out to schedule anything yet even though there were only 4 or 5 days left on the trip. See screenshots. Long story short, she ended up lying, blaming him for not having an open schedule, which is essentially irrelevant because I was FULLY clear that she was allowed to work on the apartment without him there, and my concierge was even OK with letting her in if he wasn't there to do it, as she'd already done that several times. She only recached out to him after I confronted her about progress, with just four days left on my trip. Again, screenshots attached. So, I ended up having to take time out of my trip to leave her very thorough but understanding voice messages. I expressed my disappointment especially since this was already vulnerable for me having to going through m many of my mom's objects. I am writing this six months later and to this day, she has never responded to me. She simply sent me the invoice which is frankly just a brutal way to end an emotional process. I have sent her multiple text messages, called her plenty of times so essentially she left the project without ever doing a walk-through, without an explanation, an apology, no receipts to make returns of certain items that she bought without my approval that simply don't work for me. As if I'm not already dealing with mourning, I have to deal with these inconvenient items every day, and think about this frankly traumatic experience. Post-trip I am happy to honestly say that most of the work she did was impressive, I've never argued that. However if you're someone who has emotions tied up in the organizational process, I would not recommend working with her because even with her undeniable skills, this has caused more damage than I could ever expect working with an organizer. More than anything I'm disappointed in her dishonesty and unprofessionalism, and I would urge anyone who's protective of their personal space and energy to find someone else.

I reached out to Tidy LA/Meredith by recommendation of a trusted friend. Working with Meredith has had an enormous positive impact on my day-to-day life, and I notice new ways in which she's made my life easier every time I turn around. Before my first session with Meredith, I had anxiety about being judged, feeling overwhelmed, not feeling "ready" to start, and/or being compelled to buy numerous color-coded plastic containers. However, my mind was quickly placed at ease by Meredith's understanding, intuitive, and conscientious nature. She brings skill, talent, kindness, and integrity to the entire home organizing process. Meredith quickly absorbed what I needed (both in terms of my physical and mental space) and how to best achieve results while making the process productive, peaceful, and even fun. I was involved in a way that felt comfortable to me, but Meredith made everything work. Crowded furniture and box stacks and paper piles and drawers of ephemera were pulled from dust mote purgatory, exposed to air, examined and, when that inevitable midpoint "messier than when we started" state would arrive, the arc of activity in Meredith's hands would smoothly cascade toward order - reorchestrating objects and recomposing the space into something lovely, airy, and calm. As a world-class overthinker, I've covered the waterfront of on this decision. I could always come up with reasons not to get professional organizing help - all the while, the clutter remained, my home never felt livable, and the years went by. Now, walking through my house, I do double-takes in once-chaotic, depressing rooms that have been transformed into serene and functional spaces. My *only* regret around engaging Meredith's services is not having done so sooner!

As the years went on, she had increasing difficulty doing housework and she was a hoarder. If you are a Harry Potter fan, my mom's house had reached the condition of Bathilda Bagshot's in Godric's Hollow in the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. When Harry and Hermione entered Bathilda's house they observed, "Bathilda was tottering around the place lighting candle, but it was still very dark, not to mention extremely dirty. Thick dust crunched beneath their feet, and Harry's nose detected, underneath the dank and mildewed smell, something worse, like meat gone bad. He wondered when was the last time anyone had been inside Bathilda's house to check whether she was coping. She seemed to have forgotten that she could do magic too, for she lit the candles clumsily by hand, her trailing lace cuff in constant danger of catching fire." Here in the San Gabriel Valley, we can't "do magic too" to clean our homes, but luckily we have the real-life magic of Crystal!! I am so extremely, incredibly grateful for her nearly magical house cleaning skills. She went through the house, room by room, and cleaned the cat urine-soaked and cat barf-encrusted floors. She wiped down the walls and baseboards. She made the bathrooms and the kitchen sparkle. The kitchen sink was literally brown before from I have no idea what, and now it looks like brand-new bright white porcelain. Now the house is, and most importantly, smells super clean! Also, Crystal's prices are extremely reasonable and a great deal for all of the very heavy-duty work that she does. Thank you, Crystal, for helping me to conquer this extremely tough and overwhelming job! I am so grateful that you used your personal magical cleaning abilities to de-Bathilda-fy my mom's house.
