The Lot is a mixed bag, and probably would have been much more fun to visit on a cooler day.
All but three of the food carts were closed when I visited (late afternoon / early evening on a Friday), which was frustrating, but the cart I visited was great (The Doghouse PDX). This may have been due to the weather being hot, but it is hard to say since it wasn't unbearably hot (early summer, and no heat wave advisories).
There were probably too many misters being operated for the outside areas. As I tried to squirt some ketchup into a takeaway cup from the food cart, a giant splash of water that had evidently been accumulating above the condiment area of the food cart dropped right into my cup and onto my head, which was very irritating. There are outdoor self-service water stations, and there was a steady drip of water down all of the "clean" plastic cups, so I opted not to get any water.
The literal sogginess of the outdoor area compelled me to dine inside of "Beanbear's Beers", whose floor to ceiling doors were open to the outside dining area. So, while it was physically separate from the misters, the high humidity and heat inside were almost unbearable. There were lots of flying insects buzzing around everywhere inside that seemed to love it, though.
If one visits on a cooler day, it would probably be much more enjoyable. With that said, though, parking is extremely challenging to find, and will likely result in a long walk to get to the establishment. read more
