I came here recently to see a band that I love and wasn't really sure what it was going to be like. Overall, for a smaller concert venue that is general admission, I thought it was pretty good. Plus, ticket prices were more than reasonable, it has a full bar, and the drinks were a lot cheaper than I was expecting. The place also has a lot of character. We watched all of the opening bands from the bar area, which was pretty large and never had much of a wait for drinks. From there, the acoustics were generally good. We were with a VIP guest and watched the headlining band from behind stage (awesome experience!), so I can't really speak to the acoustics on the main floor. However, from behind the scenes, it looked like the crowd was really enjoying themselves. I know I had a great time. Parking wasn't difficult, the bathrooms weren't horrible, all the staff were friendly, and the bartenders knew what they were doing. Went here for a show tonight. Nowhere did it indicate any minimum age for attendance. Even if there was, I'm 21 so it doesn't matter to me. When security checked my ID (my state issued very real ID that I've never had any issue with) I was told it was fake and without a second form of ID I would be removed. The friend I was with, while above 18 was under 21 and was let in without issue, which made it feel like it was something against me personally. I avoid confrontation at all costs but this was ridiculous to me so I pushed back and calmly asked him what made him think it was fake. He refused to explain only telling me that he's seen a lot of fakes that night and mine was fake. I showed him my student ID because if I was using a fake ID why would I use my real name in the first place, and he told me that wasn't enough. When I told him I didn't have my passport but pictures of it he yelled at me to show him. When I did and I asked him to explain it to me what made him think it's a fake, he once again only reiterated that he's seen a lot of fakes that night and it was one. I restated the question and asked if there was any features he could specifically point to would indicate it's a fake because if there was a problem with my ID I wanted to know. He told me if I kept arguing with him I would be removed, even as I was walking away. If this was just for drinks I wouldn't have cared, but the fact that it seemed to be for entry into the venue, even when there was no minimum age indicated, and if there was, would someone under 18 really have a fake Id, a student id somehow, and be hanging out with college kids? In addition to the fact that he couldn't answer the question of which parts of my ID looked fake? It seemed extremely personal. Or maybe this place just needs a scanner or to train their security better. It was an insulting, embarrassing, and frustrating experience. read more

I was here in April 2018 for the Turnover show. Acoustics were great and the band sounded amazing, and it wasn't hard to get up front -- people weren't too aggressive and the overall energy of the crowd and the venue itself was laid back enough. It is certainly divey, though, I wouldn't have great expectations for service or drinks. Plus if you're a smoker make sure you do so before you go in. They won't let you back in if you step out for a smoke! Weird rule, but at least they tell you upfront. I wish they'd book more indie acts here, would definitely go again if the band was worth it! read more

I saw some of the best shows of my life here. There used to be a promoter named Dick here, he was an older guy but young at heart. He booked all sorts of punk rock shows for us Reagan era youth that we never would have had a chance to have seen otherwise. Highlights: Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Flipper, The Exploited and one of my absolute favorite shows ever: Iggy Pop! Glad to see they're still open! read more

I went here to see one of my favorite artists. I still enjoyed seeing them live, but I was disappointed in this venue. Here are some of the issues that stood out to me: 1. I tried calling the venue three or four times before the concert to ask if they served food, but they didn't answer. I ended up just going to the venue regardless and hoping that they would serve food, and it was only after I had been admitted into the event that I found out they do not. They do not have that information on their website (the FAQ page is empty), and they didn't answer my phone calls, so there wasn't really any way for me to find out ahead of time. Obviously they don't have to serve food if they don't want to, but it would have been helpful to me if they had made that info more easily available so I could have known to get something to eat elsewhere first. (It might be worth mentioning that I was traveling through Syracuse without a rental car, so it wasn't super easy to get around). They didn't allow re-entry either, so once I entered I wasn't able to dash out and get something to eat close by. I ended up being kind of hungry for most of the concert. 2. There was a pretty egregious microphone problem during the opening song of the headlining act. One of several main vocal mics was apparently not plugged in - a sound technician had to go onstage and plug it in during the middle of the song. Granted, this might not have been the venue's fault though. 3. It's just not the nicest looking venue. In particular, the ceiling is low and unattractive, like the ceiling of a school classroom. read more

This is a cool divey venue with a bar where I got served quickly (there's an earlier review about female bartenders being slow to tend to female customers--I didn't have this experience at all). There were some cool booths where people could sit and listen to the music, and while the floor area was smaller, that's what you expect going into this place. The staff was all very friendly to me, the tickets were cheap and the band was awesome, so I'm very pleased. I will say the drinks could've been a little stronger, but they weren't as expensive as most venue bars either. All in all, I definitely recommend this place if there's a band coming that you like. read more

This place is probably one of the worst concert venues I've ever been to. The bar is pretty nice. It's big and has two sides so it's easily accessible even with a crowd. The merch area is pretty large and flows well. That about all I can say that's complimentary. The stage area is horrible. The floor is too small, the ceilings are way too low, and the way it's partitioned and separated by stairs, there's almost no room. Also, because of the low ceilings and a few other factors, the sound here is probably the worst I've heard in all my 29 years. It just bounces around and gets so muddled. I drove here from Buffalo for a show, but regardless of the band, I won't make the drive to this place again. read more

Small Venue. Seems like the female bartenders only like to tend to male customers, probably because they expect a better tip? I noticed multiple female customers getting irritated because they kept getting skipped over, including myself multiple times. This was my first time at this venue, as i'm from Buffalo. And I don't think I'd make another trip just to see a band at this place. Parking was also limited so being from out of town, I had a hard time figuring out where was safe to park without getting towed. I had to park in an "Asian center" parking lot and take the risk. But seems like many people parked there. Not sure if one business is cool with another business using their lot but whatever. Overall this place didn't impress me. I'll stick to Buffalo and Toronto for shows. read more

I've been here a few times over the last 5 years and it used to be a solid 4 stars but things have changed a little and not for the better. I'll start off with the positives, they get some pretty good bands here and they have a good sound system. They also have a decent beer selection, they had bottles of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale for $4.50, which is fair. Now, onto the negatives. It takes forever to get served at the bar. One of the bartenders actually skipped over me a few times and served new people who came up next to me. At that point I decided to order 2 beers at once. Sure, they'll get warm, but it's less annoying than the long wait for beer. Parking here sucks. Someone mentioned that the parking is fine but they're wrong, the venue holds about 400 people, but the parking lot itself has maybe 30 spots, so you're forced to go park at other local businesses with the thread of being towed. They also wouldn't let me bring my camera in without a press pass. The biggest bummer to me was that they don't allow re-entry anymore, regardless of how old you are. It gets really hot inside and there's no fans or AC. There's a spot you can wander outside in but it's a designated smoking area, so good luck if you're at the venue and you want some fresh air. If they keep getting good bands then I'll most likely go back, it's an easy spot to get to off the highway, but it's not the most enjoyable venue. If you buy tickets online there's still a $6.50 fee per ticket (but that may be more of an issue with Ticket Fly), and also if it gets too crowded then it's pretty hard to get a good view of the band. read more

Last night was the first time I was here. Went to see Red Sun Rising. This band is awesome(IMO). This small dive type bar was a cool setting to see a national band. The sound in this place was actually good, I was expecting to be deaf today. I'm not real familiar with the area but it was easy on then back on the interstate. Beers were about on par with everything else in New York, pricey. $4.50 for a Corona. I wasn't drinking so it wasn't an issue for me. This place books a lot of well known talent of all types. I believe I would return if there was another venue I liked. The only reason I didn't give a better rating is because the bouncer, or whoever he was at the front door. This guy is a douche to say the least. He gave everyone a hard time coming into this place. Other than this fat load at the door, it's seemed to be a cool place. They really have no parking which kinda sucks. You might come out to no car if park in the wrong neighbors lot. They do advice of places to park at neighboring businesses. read more

Disgusting, dirty place. Overwhelming stench of urine. Beer tasted like it was 3 years old. Bartender called last call at 11! Got a drink, paid, bouncers pushed us out before we could even drink it, asked if we could at least finish the drink we just bought, and they started screaming insults at us and made us leave. Never. I went to this venue for the first and last time this past weekend. I just cannot understand how someone would try to run a venue which hosts 300-400 people however they have no parking options. Not limited, absolutely none. They have a parking lot of about 10 spaces of which half of were staff and artists (I would recommend showing up 2-3 hours early to try to park here, not even joking). All lots on the street have signs saying not to park there so this is clearly a weekly issue. This venue does not offer any legal parking areas, nor will the staff help you out if you ask them where to park. They simply shook their heads, laughed at us and said "Good luck". read more
