We walked up and saw you could catch a big ol school bus to shuttle you up to the entrance for free, we hoped on and went in. I was very excited to see de Zwaan the famous Windmill imported from the Netherlands! The only one in the US, I think! It was SO beautiful! I got some great shots of the tulips and the windmill that I thought were just so pretty! Loved going up in the windmill and walking thru the tulip fields. Also don't miss walking thru the shops with authentic goods for sale including a whole cheese wall! With samples! You know some Dutch Gouda had to come home with me!

The windmill is identical to what is in the Netherlands. The only difference between this windmill and the ones in the Netherlands is that each level of this windmill has different types of jobs that were done that relied on windmill power such as clog carving and flour milling. I feel like the people in costume don't really want to chat or start a discussion around the park except for one woman at the very top of the windmill who was giving out stickers and one doing the pipe organ demonstration - everyone else in costume were either chatting with each other or kind of zoned out. Outside of the windmill, there's not much to do - we watched the short informative film and the pipe organ demonstration, but that's it for activities. We were told that the park had horses in the pasture but we walked the entire park and all the paddocks were empty. There is a carousel for kids and there is a gift shop selling the exact same stuff as all of the gift shops in Amsterdam. Even though we were in Holland, Michigan, everything just says "Holland" on it - I even saw the exact clog magnet I purchased in Amsterdam for sale here! Even the paper shopping bags for small items are identical to what is available in the gift shops in Amsterdam. (The cheese is local though.) One that that was pretty cool was looking at this big miniature town that they have on display from the 1930's. If you have never been to Windmill Island Gardens, then you'll have no idea of the significance of the miniature town in Nicole Kidman's basement in the film "Holland" that she starred in. It is set in Holland Michigan and features many shots of this particular windmill. My husband and I watched it after we stumbled upon it after our visit and having been here was kind of cool while watching. Overall, I'd say you can do absolutely everything in 2 hours here, including walking the entire loop around the fields. It was fine but I'd definitely like more of the employees doing talks discussing Dutch culture, crafts, architecture, whatever. Visited: August 2025

So, when my friends and I were in Saugatuck for a bachelorette party and decided to stop by New Holland Brewery, I was stoked and we were not disappointed. The vibes, service, and food were all great, and the menu has plenty of options to choose from. Even without a reservation, we were able to get a table upstairs that comfortably fit our large group, which was impressive given how busy the place was. Our waitress did an amazing job keeping up with such a big party and made sure everyone was taken care of. The menu offers a nice variety, including starters, pizzas, salads, soups, and sandwiches, all at very reasonable prices. Most entrees fall in the $15 to $20 range. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted because so many items sounded good, but I ultimately ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich for $15 with a side of cream of potato soup. Both were excellent. The chicken was huge, perfectly cooked, and well-seasoned with just the right amount of heat. The soup was creamy with a great balance of potatoes. Overall, I genuinely loved my meal and would absolutely return the next time I am in town. I also did not hear a single complaint from anyone in our group, which says a lot when dining with a large party.

The venue is lovely, and the big attraction for us was the freedom we had to bring in our own caterer, design the ceremony in our own style, and make the whole day feel like us! We couldn't believe how so many venues nickel and dime you for every little thing, and force you to use their list of pricy vendors. District 5 Schoolhouse gives you the freedom to do your own thing, which is certainly helpful when working with a budget. But they can definitely provide guidance and advice for first time wedding planners like us too - Sarah helped us figure some things out we hadn't even thought of. Another huge plus is their decor closet - table runners and signs and vases and stuff like that you're allowed to use that can save you hundreds of dollars! All I can say is that this beautiful location is a great value run by kind and thoughtful people who will work with you to have an event that fits your budget and needs. Highly recommended!

She was so easy to work with and made the whole process smooth. The chalkboards were so fun to decorate and really added to our decorations. The space was well cared for and maintained. The bell tower was a great spot to take pictures, but brace yourself for a climb! We especially appreciated the Pay it Forward decoration closet. There were so many decoration options and themes to choose from! It was a real help for us to have on hand so we could limit how many decorations we purchased/rented. We loved getting married here and would recommend it to anyone!

The food was amazing: we had plenty and even had a few meals to take home. The night of the wedding, Dimitri sought us out continually to make sure we were happy and to see if we needed anything. There are always so many things that can go wrong during a wedding but fortunately for us, it was a picture perfect night. I would highly recommend this venue and wish we had another wedding to plan so that we could return.

Upon ordering, I first requested a menu item, which would be a 10 oz. Steak Entre... I was promptly informed that they had no 10 oz. steaks left.... So... I changed my order to be an 8 oz. steak... about 5 minutes later, the waitress came back and told me "I'm sorry, we are all out of steaks... would you like something else?"... I asked the waitress if there was a possibility since they didnt have what I wanted (Steak)... Could I get a slight discount on the all you can eat meal which was crab and shrimp. The answer was "We cant do that"... Not "Let me get the manager" but..."We cant do that". So, as irritated as I was, I waited a bit, and I then ordered the SAME MEAL as the rest of my family, which was a hot beef sandwich with redskin mashed potatoes and a salad. About 5 minutes goes by, and the waitress comes out and tells me "I'm sorry, the mashed potatoes arent ready, would you like something else?".... Now... I understand restaurants can run out of stuff... but when the 3rd thing was not available, I had to ask for a manager... When the "manager" came out, she looked at me and said "Is there a problem over here?" to which I replied "Yes" and described the situation... She then replied "OK, Well, I dont appreciate you yelling at my waitress".... Now.. up until now, I hadnt yelled, I was irritated yes, but I hadnt yelled. I told the lady to get me her boss... because I do NOT like being told that I am doing something that I didnt do. Her boss came up *about 6ft 7in, 280lbs, build like an NFL Linebacker* and said "Is there a problem here?" in his deepest voice, to which I replied just as I had to the first manager. In the end, he attempted to make the issue right, even offered to give me a discount on the all you could eat lobster and shrimp deal as I had originally requested, however I was too afraid that my meal would have spit in it by this time, and could not accpept it. He did pick up the entire family's meals, but I ended up leaving without eating due to it... I will not be going back to this restaurant. I do believe that this gentleman was trying to be intimidating... Those that know me, know I am not a man that becomes intimidated easily. Therefore, I am writing this review to make sure that everyone knows what kind of an establishment this was. Arrick Moore.

We did two-on-two laser tags (all adults) and that was fun. It was $11 per person though and one of the laser guns didn't work, so probably wouldn't do it again. They did have a variety of arcade games as well and some prizes you could redeem tickets for. We did a VR game but my husbands head had to look straight up the whole time or it wouldn't work... At one point. We played a game that wasn't working and when I went to tell someone, he told me to "make sure no one else plays it" like I worked there? I was so confused. Thankfully they did refund the card for that one game (but none of our other issues). For kids birthdays, it may be a nice place to go, but I left feeling underwhelmed and frustrated by the lack of care that was clearly present.
